I have a craving for the english pub style curry they used to do at a pub I used to go to as a teen. It was curry based but I presume used cream and stock, not coconut milk based like the thai ones. I've googled but I can only find ones that contain apple and chutney *blergh*.
Just putting it out there on here to see if anyone has a decent recipe before I resort to trying to make it up myself. TIA

I'd suggest using Keen's curry powder with onion and some stock. Stir in a little cream just before serving.

Would it be sort of like a white sauce based curry?
We call it Mum's curry in this house. Essentially it's just a white sauce with onion, curry powder etc.
It's similar to the curry sauce for chips that they serve in takeaways in Scotland.

I'm not sure if I know what you mean, but I do a curried salmon rice slice by making a white sauce using half flour half curry powder. Then when the white sauce is made, remove from heat and add some mayo and lemon juice. It's a lovely flavour, not too sweet like the chutney and apple style curries but a touch of sweetness and a touch of tang iykwim.
