Hello

Tobias and Indigo are turning 1.. in just under 2 weeks. We have planned their party...for after their morning sleep...so they aren't tired.

Anyways.. Since the party is 1.30pm...everyone...I assume would have had lunch already. So not sure what type of food to serve.

We will be at a park.. So will only have a BBQ to heat stuff up.

Any ideas... For kids and adults. And stuff that can be made a day or two before original.gif

Thanks

I had DS's 1st birthday recently, from 11-1, so I treated it as a morning tea and not a lunch thing. I was trying to keep it super-simple for myself and didn't even do different food and drink for adults and children.

Fairy bread
Honey Joys
Sausage rolls
Ham, and cheese & tomato sandwiches
Birthday cake

Drink - 300ml bottled water, and juice cartons.

That's it! Almost but not quite all the food was eaten, I saw all the adults nibble away, and if anyone was unhappy they didn't tell me about it!!

You could do savoury mini muffins instead of sausage rolls - so then everything can be eaten cold. Fairy bread I made fresh on the day. Honey joys can be made several days ahead and stored in air-tight container. Mum brought the plate of sandwiches. Savoury mini-muffins (or sausage rolls) can be made weeks in advance and frozen, thaw on the day and serve. Birthday cake I made weeks beforer, froze, and then decorated the night before.

Hope that helps

being at a park means you obviously cant heat up a lot, but if there is a bbq, you could do sausages on bread for the adults, but sandwich fingers for the kids eg vegemite etc...
Mini muffins are great and the best thign is young kids who drop food all over the place are only feeding thebirds...lol
You could have cut up fruit for everyone as a fresh healthy alternative too and that is easy to take to a park in a container with a lid

Finger foods are great for afternoon parties. I usually will put food that needs to be served warm in those disposable metal trays then just sit them on the hot plate to warm them.
