What is the quickest way to remove a skin tag at home, apart from actually cutting it off?

I once tied mine off with a piece of cotton to cut off the blood supply. It was a tricky as it was in my armpit and it hurt like hell for a while. But after sleeping with it like that the next morning it fell off and no bleeding.

I tried to do the same thing, but it gave me the heeby-geebies so I left it alone. Months later, I forgot I had it and scratched it off thinking it was a bit of dried up glue. (was doing craft with DS that day). It bleed quite a bit for such a little tag, but stopped very quickly!

Not for the faint hearted - very sharp, sterile, small scissors and do it in the shower so you can rinse straight away. I can't believe I did this myself and it still makes me feel squemish thinking about it - but it worked!!

It didn't hurt, just felt really weird doing it.

Oh dear I've got 2, and 1 I really have to get rid of because my car seatbelt rubs it, but the very thought makes me ill.

Mine are actually dark brown, like moles, though I'm certain they only appeared in pg. Anyone else had these?

If they're small you can pluck them off with tweezers (yes I have done this).

Due to a period of crap late night TV watching I happened to catch this on "Worlds Most embarrising Illnesses" or whatever that UK traveling GP show is...

They said it was caused by friction and that tying fishing line is the best method to remove them.

Other than the ones under my armpits, I have a couple on my eyelids - don't think the fishing line works there LOL!

I've gotten at least a dozen of these revolting little blighters since being pregnant. I was told they would drop off after I gave birth.

Still waiting, 4 years later mad.gif

I had 2 that become quite sore on the side of my neck, so they really hurt when sleeping. I put a band aid on each and they fell off within 2-3 days. Not sure if it was a coincidence but worked both times.

Ouch! I've never tried to remove them at home. My GP freezes them off using liquid nitrogen. Very quick and only stings a little.

Me too, I'll eventually go to the GP for "something". I've had them removed with ? something that freezes them in the past, very effective but messy.

Dental floss is also good to use as once pulled tight it doesn't seem to slip or get loose.

DD was born with two near her ear, a pediatric surgeon tied them off and they dropped off in about 2 days. He didn't use any anesthetic because it would have hurt more then the actual process, she cried for about 10 seconds then was fine. He did tell me that you have to make sure that the blood flow is completely cut off or it would swell (in which case he told us to come straight back in.) I wouldn't do it myself but it seems fairly straight forward.
