Hi everyone.. Just wondering what you all think of the name Jamie?
When you hear it do you think boy or girl?
Which spelling do you think is best?
And..
Do you think it goes well with the surname
Williams and with our DS Tay?
Not sure on mn.. I do like James as a mn but obviously Jamie James is not the best option haha..
Suggestions on mn would be appreciated too

Thanks everyone

Jamie James - no. James is just lovely, and could be shortened to Jamie for a nickname. For contrast, with James being a shorter name, you could choose a longer middle name - James Alexander, James Nathaniel, James Nicholas etc. Or, if you prefer James as a middle name, you could choose a more modern first name to go with Tay - Eli James, Kade James, Levi James...

I have a male second cousin Jamie (and in fact his surname is Williams

), I also have a female first cousin on the other side of the family called Jamie. So, I don't instantly think of it belonging to either gender. If you're concerned you could name him James and use Jamie as NN. I wouldn't use Jamie James though.

We considered jamie for a boy and loved it.
But Im confused on what other spelling you would be considering?

James is ok. Jamie I'm not a fan of but it is ok as a nickname. My DS1 has a friend named Jamieson...what about that?

My neice is called Jaime so it has a feminine association for me.

I really don't like it for either gender but when I hear it I definitely assume the person will be male. I would spell it no other way than Jamie regardless of gender. I think James is lovely but Jamie goes far better with Tay than James ever could.
I think both becaue i went to school with 2 girls named Jamie but in later life i have known 2 men named this - one was a NN for James, the other, Iamie was his full name.
I think its fine i don't have a problem with it and as Fifi says i think it goes far better with Tay than james would.

Thanks everyone! Levi and Eli are on my short list too... DF actually suggested Jamie so I thought I'd put
it out there
DF likes Oscar James... I like it but just don't love Oscar...

Love James and can be shortened to Jamie. I know boy and girl Jamie's. One of the boys full name is Jamie and he is really bored of having that conversation!
I had a BF called James who I called Jame, which caught on and 15 years later it's still what he's known as!

Just go with James, I'm not a fan of Jamie. My DS only gets James or JJ (his middle name is John) as I think of a girl with Jamie

I think girl when I first hear the name Jamie but that's only because I know so many girl Jaimi/Jamie's.
It's an ok name but I don't love it.

When I was around 6 I would call myself Jaime, after The Bionic Woman, I wished my real name was Jaime.
Now, the name Jamie/Jaime for male or female does nothing for me. It's definitely not a name I would choose, but then again, neither is Tay, so they may work together.

Love Oscar - but I have one

However Tay and Eli or Levi are both perfect

Love James.
Dislike Jamie for a boy or girl.
I like Jimmy for a boy though.

I would expect a Jamie to be a boy. It goes well with Tay and it goes well with Williams. Jamie Edward?

I have a male cousin Jamie so I consider it for the boys.
Personally I don't like it though and not a lover of James either. I font think it goes with your sons name either as that is a bit different and James/Jamie is boring to me.

I would think Jamie is a girl or a NN, and James is a boy. Tay does sound great with Eli or Levi. I'd probably go with Eli James or Levi James.

Yep, with a longer middle name.
Jamie is nice and sweet as a child, but when he's an adult... well, at least James gives an option to use either, plus it is a nice strong name.

You could also consider Jamin, Jamie as nickname.

To me Jamie is a nickname for James. So it screams masculinity for me.
I know plenty of both sex called Jamie though.
And so many weird spellings.
I would spell the boys way Jamie and girls Jaimee.
Not a name I would use though,
