Hi Maycee-I see patrick has asthma-do you mind telling me how long he's had it and if its allergy related?

Sorry to be nosey, Joel has lots of food allergy issues which seem to be basically resolving, but has now tested +ve for all sorts of things including dustmites and rye grass-he's never had hayfever prior to the last 2 weeks and he's been hit with it full on.-he looks like someone on one of those hayfever ads :quest: Im actually tending to think he is developing asthma-not so much because he's audibly wheezy but more so from his persistent night time cough.

anyway I would appreciate your info if you dont mind passing it on!

Cheers

Hi Caz - excuse me butting in on your message to Maycee original.gif. Harriet was diagnosed with asthma this winter. Her symptoms were a persistent night time cough (she would often cough until she vomited). Ventolin and Flixotide (a preventer and reliever) worked so well for her. However we are trying her without the "special medicine", as it's called in our house, now that the weather is warmer and she is well. Her symptoms seem to be related to the colder weather and having a cold or other upper respiratory tract infection. We've been meds free for a couple of weeks now with no problems but will use them again if she is unwell or has any symptoms.

She does, we think, have the atopic gene (ie allergies etc) as she also has exzcema (like me). Her ID twin, Eleanor, doesn't have either. Asthma, exzcema and hayfever are all linked to this atopic gene so there definitely could be something in your theory about allergies being a trigger for Joel.

Hope the wee boy is feeling better soon.

Maree-thanks for the reply-I actually posted yesteday but my message hasnt gone thru-so here goes again.

Joel is actually a bit better the last couple of days-at least he is sleeping-he's had a cold-with totally stuffed nose-plus hayfever and coughing-Ive got him onto a good cough medicine which actually has an antihistamine and psuedoephedrine and he has actually been able to sleep the last couple of nights.

I see his allergy specialist at the RCH in a couple of weeks so I'll plod along till then (unless things get out of hand) and get a proper plan of attack happening. At the moment we're using zytec and trying to limit his outdoor exposure-pollen counts have been extreme the last couple of days.

Anyway-thanks for your input! I should have actually just headed it ?about asthma-its not really specifically for maycee-never mind.

Cheers
