Hi, I am not much help but my HCG at 9 DPO was 37. I am onloy 5 weeks but I doubt I'm having twins. My sister is having identica twins and her HCG and 15 DPO was 180. Her OB said the 15 DPO level was not an indicator of twins and the egg may have split after that. So I guess you could be pregnant with twins and it not be reflected in your HCG levels at this stage.

hopefully someone can be more helful but as you hadn't had a reply I thought I might.

Hope you get your wish!

Yep your nuts.............no not really.............I too was hoping for twins but now that I have just one I am stoked as I really don't think I could have coped..........Knowing my luck I will have a transfer next time and have two,............arrrggghhhh -this is exactly what has happened to a good friend of mine........she has a 17month old (IVF too) and now twin girls are being born this friday........!

Now in regards to the HCG level I really don't think you can tell...........I say this as the nurses were preparing me for twins as my HCG level at 16DPO was 2100.................having said that I also had an ectopic pregnancy prior to having my DS and my levels then was 920 and the DR was pretty sure there were two implanted embies then.............sosososososo you just can't tell huh!

If its twins you really want then I wish you luck!

The progesterone levels are irrelevant. My 14dpo hcg levels were 890.

Check out betabase that will give you some ideas (http://betabase.info/). Your hcg levels are not particularly high to necessarily be pregnant with twins but that's not to say you haven't got twins IYKWIM. The chances are that you haven't - the standard rate of chances is 1 in 80. I note that you've taken clomid tho which can increase your chances.

Good luck original.gif

Hi there here are my HCG levels:
1st HCG = 415 - 18/8 = 14:DPT
2nd HCG = 3150 - 24/9 = 21:DPT
3rd HCG = 22,100 - 1/10 = 28:DPT
4th HCG = 65,500 - 8/10 = 35:DPT
Final HCG = 42.000 - 16/10 = 42:DPT TWINS !!
DPT = Days Past Transfer.

Good luck and hope your dreams & wishes come true.

J Assist Reprod Genet 1995 Jan;12(1):13-4

Predictive value of hCG level 14 days after embryo transfer.

Guth B, Hudelson J, Higbie J, Solomon B, Polley S, Thomas S, Gentry WL

Advanced Fertility Institute, Methodist Hospital of Indiana, Inc., Indianapolis 46202, USA.

OBJECTIVE: It has been reported that the quantitative serum hCG level 14 days after embryo transfer (ET) correlated with pregnancy outcome as well as a likelihood of a multiple gestation pregnancy. This prospective study was designed to assess the predictive value of a 14-day post-ET hCG level with pregnancy outcome and multiple gestation pregnancies.

METHODS: Patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) and ET were monitored by serum quantitative hCG levels 14 days after ET. If positive, serial values of hCG were obtained and transvaginal ultrasound was performed 3 weeks after ET and weekly until fetal cardiac activity was seen. Ongoing pregnancies were defined as greater than 20 weeks.

RESULTS: One hundred eleven patients had positive serum quantitative hCG levels 14 days post-ET; 89/111, or 80.2%, had ongoing pregnancies. The spontaneous miscarriage rate was, therefore, 19.8% (22/111). If the level was less than 300, the ongoing multiple pregnancy rate was 9% (5/57). If the level was between 300 and 600, the ongoing [multiple] pregnancy rate was 40% (10/25). If the hCG level was greater than 600, the multiple pregnancy rate was 100% (7/7).

CONCLUSIONS: These data support the hypothesis that hCG levels greater than 200 mIU/ml on 14 days post-ET are more likely to have ongoing pregnancies; hCG levels greater than 600 have a high likelihood of a multiple gestation pregnancy.

Hi there,

My HCG levels were:
704 14 DP 3 day transfer
4220 18 DP 3 day transfer

Because of these my clinic suspected I might be having twins, but conversely a friend of mine had a HCG of 160 14 DP 3 day transfer - so her double bundles of joy were unexpected based on the results!

Good luck, I'm sure you will be delighted with one or two babies in the end.

Cheers

Kaz
