Hello

Does anyone know if 3 car seats will fit in the back of a commordore VS or are we going to have to look for a bigger car?

Also, when feeding your twins at night, did you feed both even if one was still sleeping and where abouts did you feed them. Is it possible to pick them up out of the cot at the same time?

For those that had a toddler at the time, how did you manage with the sleep deprevation in the first month or so and also keep your toddler entertained?

Hi Emma,

I can't help you with the car seat question or the toddler question because I had my trio first.

With the feeding question, I always used to wake the others when the first baby woke for a feed. I wasn't prepared to take the chance of feeding one, only to be woken up again in an hours time to feed another baby or 2! I would feed out in my rocking chair in the loungeroom because I tandem fed. I was able to pick up two babies at a time, but as they got bigger I stopped doing this. original.gif

cheers,

there's a thread about the car seats in the large families board - yes it's possible (apparently) with buying at least one or two S&S compaq car seats original.gif and now (not being a twin mum Tounge1.gif) i will disappear like a puff of smoke LOL

edited to add the link which i just found in my favourites original.gif

Hi Emma,

I can't answer your toddler or car seat question but I can help you with the feeding question. I had plans to wake the other up but found my boy sleeps a lot longer than my girl so I was actually sleep depriving myself because he often wouldn't settle well after being woken. I think probably you will decide this after you bring them home original.gif They may be really different like Saxon and Maddison - she still wakes three times a night and he only wakes once original.gif

Also it is possible to pick them both up, bit awkard someimes:) But you manage original.gif I did find it hard at the beginning to twin breast feed on my own, that got easier as they got older.

Good luck original.gif

I'm not sure about the width of a Commodore but we have a Falcon and 2 capsules and a car seat fitted quite well across the back, we thought we would progress to 2 car seats and a booster but it didn't fit enough to do up the seatbelt, so we scrapped the booster idea and just use a h harness (on recommendation from Kidsafe)saved us some $ too.

To start off with I tandem breast fed the babies at the same time for every feed, waking up whoever wasn't awake, but after a couple of weeks in the middle of the night, I always seemed to be waking up Sam and he wouldn't feed very well and he'd wake up again anyway so I stopped waking the sleeping twin up to see what happened. It meant there were a few very exhausting evenings when I was up feeding every hour but they were better rested so managing them for the rest of the night and day was easier than if they were tired and cranky.

Managing a toddler as well can be exhausting. We went to bed at 8:30 often, and still do a few times a week. Our daughter is a bit of a movie addict and so I often would just let her watch movies when I was too exhausted, when the twins got older I reintroduced our TV rules. So basically just do whatever works for your child and family. A godsend though was that while I was on paid maternity leave we kept her going to childcare, and those days were so quiet and relaxed I could maintain my sanity, the expense was worth it.

cheers
