the girls have woken up full of the snot monster. They are still really happy but am now wondering if that is what all the lack of sleep has been. Had a shocker of a day yesterday but have woken on top of the world today. off to the gym..... only to have a look if I like the creche.... Really want to shed a couple of kg before summer and I have to start shedding clothes.
will be back later for personals

Hi all,

Jodi its a gorgeous day here on the Gold coast too! I'm loving this spring weather!

We are having a great day. My Mum came down fom the Sunshine Coast to visit and we took the girls to the beach. It was heaps of fun. Gabriella and Alexandra are really turning into little beach babies. They are a lot more confident and not as scared as the waves approach. And they love filling their buckets with water and wobbing up the beach only to spill all the water over themselves and then come hurtling back down the water for 'more'. It was hard work but well worth the effort.

I'm a little nervous as I'm doing a few days work this week for my old employer. I am leaving the girls with my Mum who is an absolute champion and I know the girls will be fine but i don't know how I will cope without being with them 24/7! will let you know how I go!!!!!!!!!!

Well hope all are well. Have a great day!

Hi ya all,

personals first
VETTE ~ I can't wait to take the girls to the beach. My Mum bought them a beach set for their birthday but unfortunately it is still far from beach weather over here! Brrrrrr.... A couple of our friends have just come back from QLD for two weeks and they said the weather was gloriuos. you lucky thing! How did work go? I usually do one day a week. At the start it was really hard and I felt like I was missing out on so much but now I know Madelyn and Tiahna have such a great day with their Nanny and it is really good for them. When I go to work they run to the door waving. LOL. very cute. but when you get home nothing beats those two huge smiles just for you!!!!! Goodluck you will be fine

JEN ~ well I have gone back to two sleeps. We tried really hard but they are not ready. Falling asleep in their highchairs at lunch and dinner. Totally unsettled throughout the night. That's cool I don't mind the two sleep thing.
I can't believe that about your Mothers group. That is really sad. Especially seeming you have been going for so long. Hopefully you can find another group that suits you.
As far as the sleeping goes with the girls I think it is all to do with the dreaded needles. They are full of the flu. They have not had a cold their whole life!!!! we managed to get through the whole of winter without them being sick and now they are sick from a needle that we gave them. Go Figure!!!!! I know it is all for the best. Sometimes I have tried to just let the girls cry but I just can't. When I time it one minute feels like 10 minutes so I am like you and give in and go and comfort them after a couple of minutes. I have never had sleeping problems like this before. They were tantrum crys as you said but I think initially they were trying to tell me something. Hmmmmmm. I just don't like leaving them to cry. I have always gone in and tried to settle calmly. I will not go near them if I am feeling frustrated because I don't want them to feel that. I think if you get angry with them for not going to sleep at this age will not help the situation. I get better results from taking the BIG deep breathe. LOL.
as far as their weight don't worry about it. I used to be paranoid all the time that the girls were too chubby. My girls were born 38+ and they weigh 10.9kg so Finn and Shelby are just perfect.

ANGELA ~ how are you? How is Jessica and Nicola? as you would have read we have gone back to one sleep. How is Jessica and Nicola one sleep going?
to view past posts.... when you have chosen to reply above the text box it says "click here to see the original thread... then you can just go between the two. Don't worry I never knew how to and once I printed out the thread. OMG soooo many pages later... LOL.
How is Nicola? Has she been sleeping any better. Do they still sleep in the same room?
I am glad you are going to the paed I think that is best just for piece of mind but yes I have heard it can be common when they are learning to walk and that as well. All muscle strengthening really
I am meant to start the gym tomorrow but now that I have a new housemate... the snot monster... I don't think I can go.

that's it for me. DP has opened my pack of lollies and I can't trust him to leave me any so I better go. I know the trainer at the gym is going to say no more junk food so I have to get my last fix in. LOL.

Hope you all get heaps of sleep
hello to everyone else I have missed will be back sometime tomorrow.... maybe...

Jodi

Hi Jen ~ you were typing as I was and we doubled up on Angela's question. LOL.
katef
Hi all!

Thought I'd pop in and see how everyone one was going while the boogers are asleep. It's a glorious day here so we've spent the morning outside digging in the vegie patch and bare bottomed in the sand pit and paddling pool... even had a picnic lunch on the rug! Just glorious I love the warmer weather!!!!

Jen - I can't believe your mother's group are so inconsiderate to keep going to the pool all the time!!! Surely they must realise there is no possible way you can go with them... and ok maybe every once in a while they could go but even that seems just plain rude and unfriendly!!! Grrrrr not fair!

As I think I said before we go to playgroup and are the only twins there but we've been going since the girls were really little and all the other Mums are just wonderful with helping out. There are some things I choose not to attempt with two toddlers (like the Wiggles concert since we can't take the pram) but I know if I wanted to go the other Mums would bend over backwards to make sure we were included. Definitely find yourself a better playgroup... but I bet you feel mightly dispointed though, I know I would!

And Yay on the walkers!!! I loved it when my girls (finally) started walking... meant we could walk short trips from the car to playgroup etc etc without having to get out the pram every time! FREEDOM!

I don't think your boys seem that big Jen - 10.5 kgs seems about rightfor one year old boys doesn't it??? My girls don't quite scrap onto the graph for their corrected age... sometimes they do other times they don't. They are both around 10.25 kgs at the moment at 23 and a bit months actual age and 21 months corrected. But I've totally given up on worrying about it as they eat like pigs and I know the growth charts they use here are based on formula fed babies in the 1960's so I don't think that really applies to us very well!

Vette - how did your days of work go??? I leave my girls with my Mum every now and then to get some work done but I am usually only in the other room on the computer! Which has it's benefits and it's draw backs!
Anyway I hope it went well!

How is everyone and their sleep issues??? I think this 12 - 18 month period can be full of unsettled sleep for loads of reasons. They are becoming more aware of things so start to know what is coming and have more of an idea what they want and don't want. Also there are some BIG developmental leaps and often major milestones can interpt sleep in a big way, especially gross motor milestones like walking etc as they sort of 'practice' the skill in their sleep which is often enough to wake them.

And I am so with your guys about the magical -12 months means one sleep thing! That so doesn't take into account that all our kids are individuals and some will be ready to drop back to one sleep earlier and some later! It'll be easy to do when it is the right time!

But it does get better! Now I very rarely have any issues with the girls going to sleep - now very often at around 8:30 one or other of them will say 'sweeping bag?' (sleeping bag) and I'll only have to mention the words 'bed time' and they are off into their room waiting to be zipped into their sleeping bags and put in bed. They have to have their teddy and doll doll each and ask for the music to be put on and that's that. I rarely hear from them until the morning. So all the hard yards we did early on and the broken sleep is almost forgotten now... just wanted to share that so those of you struggling now might have some hope! biggrin.gif

Jodi - how are the snot monsters??? I think my girls have been constantly snotty since the start of winter... well it feels like it anyway! But we are lucky they rarly got sick in their first year when we were expecting it from them being so prem! I put it down to just being part of being a toddler... they get into all sorts of dirt, eat horrific things and share food and drinks with anyone and everyone so I guess they are just exposed to more germs than they were in their first year and non-mobile babies. But it's sort of good in a way as they are that little bit bigger and better able to handle the bouts of sickness now than they would have been in their first year.

Anyway I had better go.... only a few more weeks until my girls turn two and I need to make some birthday decisions and get onto invitations asap!

Hope you are all enjoying a lovely weekend!

hugs

Kate

Hello all.....
I don't have much time as DP is cooking dinner. Teriyake scallops. Yummy!!!!! I know it is late (9.30pm over here) but there has been dramas in our street. Our next door neighbours work away and they have a huge palm tree out the front which caught fire and I had to call the fire brigade. OMG !!!!! There have been a few fires (six) which have been lit in the last couple of hours in our area. Too scary. Can't wait to move. we went to see our block today and it has been cleared I am so excited.

The snot monster has nearlly moved out thanks to demazin and our vapouriser. I am right off him and hope he does not come back in a hurry!!!!!

we had the best day today.... we went and saw DP grandad. I had never met him nor had the girls. It was so gorgeous and the girls put on the best show ever for him and they totally melted his heart. we then went to see DP other granparents and she baked fresh cupcakes just for the girls. We then took them down to the park to feed the ducks. they really enjoyed that and we got some gorgeous photos.

JEN ~ that is so cool about Finn and Shelby with their walking. It happens all too quick. Tiahna has learnt how to climb on the couch. BUGGER !!! I was hoping she would never learn that one!!!!! LOL.
with their needles my girls have always been really good as well. never any fevers or anything but this lot really did knock them around. This may be really ignorant but what is the karitane's????? I soooooo badly need a new vac but I better not get one for Christmas.LOL.

KATE ~ the snot monsters are improving. Don't you just love this weather. It just puts me in the best mood. I am not a winter person and I feel the cold so badly. It gets in my bones to the point it hurts. Bring on the sun. It is going to be 31degrees in Perth on Thursday.

ooh have to go.... my scallops are ready. Might have to check back in tomorrow for the rest of my personals.

have a great night
Jodi

back again.....

KATE ~ I absolutely love that photo the shorts are just gorgeous. Did you make them? that photo would look fantastic as a poster print. What have you got planned for the girls birthday? are you making cakes?

VETTE ~ how did work go????

ANGELA ~ how are you? how is Jessica and Nicola? Did you get her foot checked or is that this week? I am back to one day work now so we will have to catch up. Now the weather is getting warmer we could maybe take the girls out together. Hmmmmm somewhere closed off...LOL.

SHARYN ~ have all the spots cleared up. I remember when the girls had a couple of blisters on their fingers and one on each toe and the doctor thought it was hand, foot and mouth. When I looked it up the picture were full on. Lots and lots of blisters but the girls never got sick just five blisters on Tiahna and three on Madelyn. Very strange. Lucky it was only a mild dose of CP for you guys!

MEL ~ How are you? do your girls still drink their milk from a bottle? My girls still have their milk from their bottles but have been thinking about starting through a cup. I think they are ready to give up "bot bot"

JO ~ Hope you are hacing a relaxing weekend. lol. are your two still sleeping in the same room? I was talking to a man in K-Mart the other day at the checkout and he had twins and he was telling me how he always takes his twins out seperately for some one on one time. I don't do this.... should I????? I felt really bad because it makes sense but I really don't want to be apart from one of them when I can be with both IYKWIM.

at what age do we introduce cutlery??????? my girls love using their fingers and I have no idea how this will change.LOL. I can just imagine when they are older we will be like the flinstones eating everything straight off the bone!!!!!

that's it from me, gorgeous day here again in Perth so we are off for a picnic lunch
have a lovely day and sorry if I missed anyone

Hi Jodi,

The girls don't still have bottles, they got a bout of gastro just after their 1st birthdays so I cut out the bottles altogether for a couple of days and they didn't seem to miss it so when I reintroduced milk I gave it to them in cups and they were fine with it.

How many bottles are they having? Maybe just replace one bottle a day with a cup and then a couple of days later another and see it they are happy with that.

Take care,
Mel

Hi, I thought I would jump in and introduce myself.

For those who dont know me my name is Ali and my two Tayla and Jake were one last Friday so now we can officially join in here. I have been lurking some some time now but can officially join in now. Yah!

We have had a busy few days. Started with my brother and SIL + kids over for dinner on Thursday night, kids birthday Friday, both sets of Grandparents for dinner on Friday night, make cakes on Saturday (5 hours to decorate) then the party on Sunday with 55 people. Now I am buggered.

The kids had a great time, got loads of presents (too many, I dont know what to do with them all. lol), had a jumping castle for the party which was fantastic.

Must go kids awake. Hope everyone is well.

Ali

hello everyone,
hope you had a great day....

ALI ~ welcome to your new thread. the ladies in here are great. I still pop in the multiples under one just to check up on what everyone is doing.LOL. I can't believe you had 55 people at their party no wonder you were buggered! Tounge1.gif

JEN ~ my girls hate to be fed now. The other day I had some dessert for them which was in a puree form and when I went to give them the spoon they looked at me as if to say "Mummy we can do it ourself now!!!" My girls have gone off wheetbix and all they have for breakfast now is toast and a banana. Can't seem to get them to eat cereal. LOL about the wheeties everywhere. Do your bubs throw their food all over the floor. I try really hard to teach them not to but they "discard" everything they don't want on to the floor. Little munchkins!!!!
I wish I had a barrier. I was typing up DP's stocktake tonight and Tiahna came running past and swiped the mouse and managed to delete three pages. Gosh you have to be quick around here.

MEL ~ the girls still have three bottles. Breakfast lunch and dinner. The lunch and dinner are only about 60ml though. I need a decent cup though. I have the Heinz baby basic ones which I used to swear by but now the girls are that bit older they throw them that bit harder and the tops keep breaking off. $16 down the drain every time. I have gone through 6 cups in like 6 weeks. Anyone got any good brands. I would prefer the non spill ones.

ANGELA ~ nice to see you are back at the gym. you good girl. I was meant to start last Thursday but the girls got sick so I have my appraisal this Thursday. As far as the grils sleep I think you are doing the right thing for your girls. I could not keep my girls up til 12 that is why it did not suit me but if you can keep them up til 12 then they must be ready for the one sleep. Unfortunately some bubs just don't need much sleep and maybe because you have your girls in such a perfect routine at night then they don't need as much rest during the day. I think once they start running around they will exert alot more energy as you say and maybe then they will take about 2hrs. Fingers crossed. wink.gif But either way you are doing a great job Ang!!!!

had a very busy day today I even mowed the lawn. Thought I would suprise DP and "yes" it worked now I'm just working on getting a back massage. Tounge1.gif ;p
Tiahna had a fall today and split her top lip on the inside. There was so much blood. Now she has a fat lip. It is horrible, every time I look at it, it makes me feel like a bad Mother even though I know there was nothing I could have done to prevent her from falling.

KATE ~ ten acres..... do you live on a farm???? I would do anything to live on a huge property away from city life for a while.

well I hope everyone is having fun and enjoying their bubs. Jo you have gone missing again LOL.

take care
Jodes

Hi ladies!

finally have a few minutes to drop in and see how you are all doing...so busy this week!

Jodi- I love my Playtex brand cups, they are very tough, as ours regularly get tossed from a height onto timber floor or pavers...they are still going strong. They are spill proof, the only down side of them is the valve that stops leaks is a bit hard to keep clean...I regularly scrub and soak it, but it's hard to get all the way in...IYKWIM. I got mine from BIGW around $13 I think. I did buy spares, just in case! Glad the snot monster didn't hang around to long...we have had enough of him at our place too! Re the cutlery, my girls have been using a combination of cutlery and fingers for a while now...I've always let them hold their own spoon, and eventually they just started using it. Hannah uses a fork quite well too, Josie tends to pick things up in her fingers, puts it on the fork then tries to get it in her mouth! It can be a messy transition. The OT at our Early Learning group said they should be able to feed themselves (with spoon/fork) at about age 2. We tend to get food thrown on the floor when they have had enough so time to remove the plate/ bowl and move on!
Hope Tihana's lip was OK??? I hate when they fall!

Ali- Hi and (belated) welcome to our world!!!! Lots of fun and games in the 1-2 yo, it's so nice to be able swap and share stories and info with people experiencing things the same as you!

Jen- you won't know yourself with little independent walkers!! My life totally transformed once that happened! So much easier...well done Finn and Shelby!

Oh gosh...run out of time...apologies to those I haven't got too...! Catch up soon!

Just to finish, the spots are all gone, they really didn't develop into full blown yucky ones...Josie had two that scabbed and Hannah only one, the rest just went red, then faded away. So we are all fighting fit again.

Aw thanks for all the lovely comments on our new photo! It's not the greatest photo but I couldn't resist using it for a sig pick when I downloaded them!

My girls are VERY affectionate towards each other, except when they are fighting! They have a real love hate relationship! But that's only blossomed fairly recently before that they were almost oblivious to each other! So don't worry everyone it will come!

And no I didn't knit the soakers... a friend made them for us and they are just adorbale! Hand dyed wool and little crocheted frills around the legs... way too cute! We usually only use them over night nappies as they are great for that but then you miss showing them off which is a shame!

Birthday plans this year are hopefully going to be very low key after last years enormous event! We are having family for afternoon tea and cake on the day (which is a Sunday) and will have a few of the girls friends to play in their new sand pit during the week before. I want to enjoy it this year instead of worrying about family politics and being the hostess with the mosest! wink.gif

Anyway I had better dash... just the girls and I for dinner tonight (DH is on nights) so I think I will be slack and make toasted sandwiches! Yum!

Hope everyone is happy and well!

Kate

Hey guys,

Yep I am still here, twins haven't got me all the way to the mental asylum yet!

We were fairly busy over the weekend. On Satyurday we took them up to our friend's property about 15 minutes from us (but it feels like you are waaaay out in the country it is so quiet!) They have alpacas, chickens, ducks, sheep etc so the kids had a nice long walk about and were all worn out for bedtime.
Sunday we went to my Mum's and they had a great time running about the garden for a couple of hours while we spent some time with my bro and SIL who were returning to Melbourne the following day.

They are both doing well (though I also wish I could get the bottles off them..they are still having 3 a day too!) Scarlett's a bit restless at night at the moment but she is getting her last bottom two teeth so could be a little bit of discomfort from that or it could be that she is getting too big to lay across the cot and getting frustrated about it. She settles back very quickly though but it is annoying to have to get up to.

Best news for us this week is we finally sorted out a table for them. I gave up trying to find one big enough to buy and ended up getting DH to cut the legs off our 2nd PC table (my Nan's old table) and they just think it is great! They've had all their meals on it, and the past 2 days have had a ball doing colouring and I am going to check the playdough later on and see if it's any good to play with or whether we need some new stuff. I thought Joe would be a bit of a ratbag and not sit and eat his meal and keep jumping off his chair etc but he is fantastic and is maybe even eating more of his meal than before...Scarlett's the ratbag one though not too badly. She keeps pulling his plate out from underneath Joe's sandwich and she keeps trying to force food and drink into him like a little mother hen!

Kate - I know what you mean about the love/hate relationship..it's very full on at times! Gosh not long now until your girls turn 2! I suppose i had better start thinking about our guys who turn two so soon after Xmas. Like you I think it will be much lower key too!

JenM - Oh poor Finn! It's a horrible mouth injury, Scarlett tore that same bit several months back and the blood was terrible. I think its just one of those places where it bleeds easily and makes it look worse. She was sore for a couple of days and then back to normal. Hope Finn is on the mend now!
Your right about the DNA test results people will argue with you no matter what. I can't believe I had the same argument with people even after telling them "no they are not identical one has a PENIS!"

Sharyn - Glad to hear your girls are back on their feet. You were so lucky to not have bad chicken pox!

Jodes - Hello! My two prefer to feed themselves but do still let me feed them. I am trying to let them have more freedom now though as I know I am only making it harder on myself if I have to sit and feed them while I could be doing other things.
On the cup subject we have been doing quite well with the Nuk brand, but Scarlett refuses to drink milk out of anything but her bottles, though she drinks water from a sippy cup. I'm considering just giving her water with lunch now instead of milk. Joe will drink milk from his sippy cup but not a whole cup or anything.

Ali - Welcome to the 1-2yrs group! Looking forward to hearing how Tayla and Jake go. Blimey their party sounded huge..I only had 55 people at my wedding and that was enough! LMAO

Well that's it from me, sorry for the epic!

Zebette
Ang - Just had to say is that the Mammut table and chairs? They are the ones I was desperately after but we don't have IKEA here yet in SA..it's in the process of being built but won't be finished until next year and I couldn't wait that long. Still it worked out cheap, all it was cost was a big hacksaw and now I am quite happy and so are the kids!

Great news about the sleeping too!

twinoski
arghhhhh!!!!!!!! WHEN DOES THE CRYING STOP!!!!!!!!!!
sorry I just had to let it out. The girls have been screaming for an hour and a half now and my head is really hurting. I had Tiahna all night last night..... now tonite I have Madelyn who has now woken Tiahna so now I have both. As soon as I go in there they stop crying and as soon as i leave they SCREAM. I am just going to sit here for 5 minutes and take a break and let it all out.......
I have been trying to work out what is wrong with them. I have gone through all of the normal things.... nappy .... bottle.... water.... bonjela.... and nothing seems to work. Then I realised that this time last week I was typing an extremely similar post.... and on a Wednesday. Well then that seems to narrow it down. I work every Wednesday and MIL looks after them so now I am wondering if they have been fed too much JUNK and now have a tummy ache. Last Wednesday night I said to DP that this has been happening on Wednesdays and look now it has happened again! what do you think? am I just looking for someone to blame for my insanity?!?!?!?
I hope you are all having a better night than me.... I have to go and resettle I can't let them continue crying it is breaking my heart..... big deep breathe.... wish me luck...

well I am back again and I think I just broke every rule in the book.... I got them up. I sat in the lounge with them and gave them a cuddle and now I have put them back to bed and guess what...... they have gone off to sleep... so tell me what was all that about?!?!?!?!

on to some personals
ANG ~ I know the table and chairs you mean. I love them. I went looking for my niece and we saw them and I just fell in love with them. The colours are fantastic aren't they! My Mum has boght the girls a different set for X-mas but I don't know which ones but I know they are not from ikea.
well done on Jessica and Nicola for sleeping that long that is fantastic. I bet you didn't know what to do with yourself. I bet you had much happier bubs for it. lucky you. Hopefully when we catch up your girls can give my girls some sleeping tips and hopefully your girls can sort my girls out! ;p ;p ;p

JO ~ howdy!!! alpacas...lol.... that makes me laugh I can't help but think of Vesna off Big Brother... LOL. she really cracked me up!!!! I had so many plans to wheen my girls off the bottle and the dummy before they became to reliant on them but where the time went I don't know and now they are reliant. especially the dummy. I think if I try and get rid of that I might join you in the asylum. Tounge1.gif
what a great idea about the table. It must look so cute having them sit together at the table. come on where's the pic? My girls already use eachothers plate as a frisby and they are still in highchairs. LOL.

KATE ~ that photo is just priceless I LOVE IT!!!!

JEN ~ how is Finn? Tiahna did her lip again!!!! just when the swelling started to go down she fell over her own feet.

Sharyn ~ thanks for the tips on the drinking cups

that's it for me I am going to take me and my headache off to relax in front of the telli. Have a rent inspection tomorrow. Yuck!!!! forgot to tell you all our next door neighbours front yard got set fire to again last night!!!!! someone really has it in for them!!!!! our slab is getting poured this week... I hope so not long til we move away from this weirdo street!!!!! Our street is so very quiet most of the time but when something happens they sure make it a memorable experience!!!!
have a great night and sweetdreams

Hey all,

Ang - We did look at getting a Mammut table/chairs shipped but at the same time I rather would see it first tomake sure it is what I wanted and how tough the plastic is etc. I'm pretty happy with what we have done now though as it's really easy to keep clean, has strong metals legs, a laminated top etc It's also big enough that I can put Scarlett away from Joe when eating otherwise she tends to try to feed him, take his plate and put the food on his table etc.

Jodes - First rule of twins..there is no rules for twins! Do what what you need to do to make it through each day/hour/minute but consistency is key. If you get up sometimes when they cry at night and put them in bed with you and others times don't it confuses them. Set out in your mind what you want to achieve, how you want to achieve it and just prepare that some nights will be bumpy for a while but eventually it will come good and that a few broken nights in the beginning can really be worth the long term goal. Our twins virtually put themselves to bed these days, then they go through a night or two where one will try to fight the routine a bit, we stand firm, continue the routine and it usually passes in a day or two. So far we have been very lucky, but it did take time to get to this point.
As for your whole issue with Wednesdays could it be that they are over tired? Do they have a good long solid sleep at MIL's? Does she overtire them in an effort to keep them amused? Our night time sleeps really didn't work well until we had our daytime sleeps sorted out as by dinnertime they were overtired without a decent day nap, they wouldn't eat a decent meal as they would literally fall asleep in their highchair, they didn't want new foods to try..it was a nightmare.
Junk food could be an issue with your MIL, maybe just gently ask her what they have been eating or perhaps next week pack them a lunch box each with snacks, drinks etc and see what gets eaten. Ask her to only feed them from food in their lunch box and see how Wednesday goes.
I also agree it's possibly seperation anxiety but I would think it doubtful if it is only one day a week..but you know your twins better than I do!

Okay better see to twins..and will pop back later to show you pics of twins at their table! original.gif

Sorry for those of you I missed in personals!

Jen - I do confess to generally thinking of Shelby as a girls name (sorry!) but it is amazing what stupid comments come out of people mouth, such as when Scarlett was tiny and ddressed head to toe in pink and people would still say..Oh 2 boys!! WT??

Anyhow have to run as I should get some housework done today!

THANKYOU all so much for the advice. the girls didn't wake back up thankgod but I laid in bed for two hours listening to their sobbing in their sleep on the monitor. they cry just like I used to with the head shakes and everything.
all of your advice really all makes sense. MIL comes to our house and looks after the girls and I always have fresh bread, sliced meat and fruit ready for their lunch. MIL usually takes them for a nice long walk after lunch which I am ever so grateful for. I spoke to her this morning and questioned what they ate. her reply : I made them a sandwhich each. anything else......? oh yeh I bought them a vanilla slice and a milky way each. WTF !!!!!!! OMG they ate all that in a space of an hour and a half. what was she thinking. my blood was boiling let me tell you!!!!!! I have so many times told her I don't want them eating junk. I am sure this is why I had two crazy kids last night. what do you reckon? I am off to see the CHN tomorrow so I have decided after I see her I am going to tell MIL that the CHN says I need to cut down on the "junk" in their diet. That way she will not take offence to it. at the end of the day she is really doing what all grandma's do..... spoil their grandchildren....grrrrrr.
JEN ~ what do those numbers mean? do children have a reaction to some preservatives or something? I must be ignorant.
JO ~ i love the pics
ANG ~ hope the paed goes well let me know

if by chance the food thing is not what the issue is with my girls then as you all say I will have a few bumpy nights and getting them out of bed really is just going to confuse them and make matters worse in the long run. I have NEVER had my girls in my bed so I have been strong in that department. can you guys tell me what would you do...... my girls are screaming do I just keep going in give them reassurance and then walk out..... keep doing this for as long as it takes for them to nod off.... should I stay in the room with them.... should I just let them continue to cry? I understand what you say Ang about confusing them as to why is Mummy deserting us again but how long is long enough to leave them to cry? I know there is nothing really wrong with them and crying is not hurting them but they just don't seem to be able to settle once they are worked up.

went to the gym today and put the girls in creche. 30minutes later the lady from the creche came to get me because the girls were too distraught and they could not settle them..... it really just never ends. I have only left the girls once before so this is all new to them. It just takes time doesn't it!

my poor little cherubs I just wish they could understand that I will never leave them and I will always be there to protect them and it's o.k. to have fun when Mummy isn't around!

hope you all have a wonderful day. It's 26 degrees here and I have to stay home for my stupid rent inspection!

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I haven't had time to read the other posts but I wanted to get your opinion on something.

We started in a new playgroup last Friday and it was absolute hell for me and I don't know whether to go back or not and wanted to know what you think.

Firstly there are 20 kids in the group and we are the only twins. Not everyone was there last week I think there was 12 kids running around. It was really hard to keep an eye on both of them as there was no real place you could watch the whole area from. Also the kids range in age from newborns to 3 1/2 to 4.

For the first hour the kids just play and then in the second hour they do organised craft activities. Last week we made drums from formula cans. There wasn't enough room at the tables for the three of us so i had to take the girls to another part of the room and make their drums and honestly they couldn't do anything to help and they were getting bored and frustrated and so they wandered off so it became even harder for me to watch them as I was trying to make their drums as well.

After craft time was snack time, someone should have told me they meant lunch time not snack time. So my two were sitting their with their fruit sticks and drinks while everyone else had sandwiches and all manner of things. So the girls started pinching other kids food while the other mothers sat back and laughed. Never mind that maybe the girls have food allergies and can't eat certain foods (they pinched a peanut butter sandwich) luckily for me they don't but no one did anything to help they just laughed at them.

At least if we go back I know this time to take lunch.

So I don't know whether to go back or not. Part of me thinks it just wasn't worth the stress and part of me thinks I have to go back because otherwise I will feel like I have failed, I should be able to go to playgroup. We do go to another playgroup but it's much smaller only 8 kids (all twins, loads of fun)and it just isn't as stressful.

Thanks for listening.

Take care,
Mel
