Anyone else seeing more and more mult mums becoming rude in the shopping centres lately? perhaps rude isn't the word, but yeah...I will say rude.

Whatever happened to that 'knowing nod' from one mult mum to another? The nod that in no words says 'I know, I feel, I believe!'? The nod that made us instant friends for a few moments even though we are strangers! YES this did exist when my babies were little or toddlers and it was an amazing instant bond!

Instead lately I've been snubbed with quite some attitude attached. Its been in the last year or so and its getting worse. Perhaps it is just my area? I hope so.

Anyway, anyone else coming across this? If so don't let it put you off, girls, because there's still some of us out there.

I have twin girls that are almost three and I still give and get 'the nod'. And you are right it is that 'Iknow how you feel nod'. How old are your children? Are they with you when you give that nod?

Hi Gabbit,

Yes they are always with me when I do. I wouldnt give the nod if they weren't. You know why. lol
My girls are identical just-turned 6.

I haven't noticed it - I still give and get the "multiples nod" - it's like a secret handshake! Maybe you've just had an unlucky run? I know I appreciate someone else acknowledging that they know how it is.

I had a bad experience when I was preg and had plucked up the courage to speak to someone with twins about her pram. Sure wish I hadn't!! She was very rude.

Luckily I haven't had this happen lately *yet*! I tend to be a little 'overzealous' (as DH puts it!) when it comes to the 'knowing nod' - I'll even give it to those pushing a double pram with a toddler/baby in it. Once I was so busy concentrating on 'the nod' I ploughed our pram into a plant original.gif - luckily Jess & Isabel don't get hay fever LOL!!

I agree - let's keep the nod alive original.gif

Yes yes yes !!! Whats wrong with just the simple "I know what you are going through" smile or nod ???
I had one pregnant mother look into the pram and saying *OMG* and that's what I'm pregnant with ... :gasp:
Well if you didn't want singleton or twins why get pregnant?
But on the up side i have had a lot of "I know what your going through" smiles & nods... And even a few stop and ask the 20 questions. *LOL* original.gif

It really interests me that there is this unspoken language with uniqe subjects.
When i was at Uni, I had an old clapped out valiant (67 model) If ever you drove past another valiant, wether it be a show car or a crapper like my one was, you always received the "nod". Used to crack me up!! Going to buy another one one of these days as you have to admit, getting that "nod or acknowledgement" gives you a fuzzy feeling original.gif

I don't get the nod! Is it just me? I have a couple of times maybe smiled at another twin mum but I don't seem to get any knowing looks returned.
All I get is people at the supermarket (usually elderly) who ask if they're twins, say that they're precious etc -when I'm pulling my hair out and ready to give them up to anyone who WILL give me the nod!

Although, on the unspoken language note, when I have been motorbike-riding with my brother or a friend, and we pass another biker, I've always noticed whoever I'm with nod their head, and the other rider nods their head also. I always thought that was cool.
I just wanted a bike so I could go out and nod my head at other riders. original.gif

Aahhhhhaaaa the nod: When we owned a Ford explorer original.gif we used to get the nod, but no we have a plain ole AU Falcon sad.gif and no more nods... It must be like being in the secret service. *LOL*
