I was up at ryan's school this morning helping with their literacy session, and I had the twins with me. We'd just finished the class, nicole and kyle playing happily, I turned around to hand ryan's teacher all the work the kids had done, turned back around and nicole was gone. I searched and searched for her around the school and by the time I got back up to the class I was a complete mess and ryan's teacher joined in the search. We thought she may have made her own way home, so I walked home while she continued to look around the school.

I was bawling all the way home with Kyle in tow, well and truly in panic mode - you know crying and semi-hyperventilating at the same time - it's amazing that I actually got to our street. Anyway there she was. I think I nearly collapsed in relief right there in the street. Apparently she looked up and couldn't see me where I was working with the kids and thought I'd gone home without her, so she ran home. My 4 yr old ran all the way home looking for me!!! At least she had the sense to stay put at home instead of coming back to look for me. I was too relieved to scold her for it and hugged her like crazy once I got hold of her - she'd been crying as well.

Anyway I've now explained to both of them that if they can't see me they need to go to ryan's teacher, not walk home by themselves. I never want to go through this again - I honestly had every bad thing going through my head as to what had happened to her, and all I could think about was how was I going to tell dh!

OMG you poor poor woman!

I would have been absolutely out of my mind! I am so glad that your story has a happy ending and that she is safe. Is it very far from your school to your house? Any roads etc?

I am surprised she didn't just look for her brother or sister rather than go all the way home. I bet the teacher was getting pretty upset by then as well!

Glad she is safe with you all again she should be.

Poor you, and Nicole. You must have been terrified. So pleased this has a happy ending. I bet you'll give all the kids extra hugs today.

LOL ... she hasn't moved from my side all day, I've had my own little shadow following me around all day. It scared her as much as it did me. And yes the teacher was beside herself as well until she got the call that she was ok. She even told nicole this afternoon when we picked up ryan that if at anytime she can't find me, she has to go to her, NOT make her way home.

Anyway I'm just glad it's all over ... it's reminded me though how easy something can go wrong and I've been treasuring every moment with them today, lots of hugs and kisses ... no cranky mummy today.

How close are you to the school? she ran all the way and she knew the way. How scary to think of all the what ifs.

I'm sorry you went through this. I cannot imagine your fear.
