HELP. She has called him Rupert and I hate it. He is an apricot toy poodle and is absolutely too gorgeous to be called Rupert.

She said I can text her a list of ideas and she'll consider changing it.

So far I have:

Oscar
Max
Theo
Dexter

We like human names, for example, her female dog is Indigo nn Indy.

Thanks!
jotana
Charlie
Bailey
Marley
Craftilicious
Like your list. My MIL did something similar and we veto'd her choice so she ran the names by us and she ended up picking a human name also 'Connor'.

Other ideas:

Chester
Bailey
ForsakenTruth
Dexter? Really?
I love the name Rupert, especially for a puppy.
Wishing2011
I think its cute. I didn't like the name my husband originally chose for our dog. But it stuck and now I can't imagine him being anything else!
crankybee
Your mum got it right! Great name!
EssentialBludger
I think Rupert is cute for a dog.
Harlo
No, my Mum got it way wrong. It doesn't suit him at all.

Our dog is Hugo - he is 6 and we knew no one called Hugo - now there were 2 in my mothers grp and one across the rd!
Mums dog is Monty which is pretty cute!
Bel Rowley
I love Rupert too! I think Hugo is a great suggestion. Something a bit posh is good for a poodle I reckon, I'd probably go something French like Henri or Claude.

Rupert....I LOVE IT.... wub.gif wub.gif

That is the cutest name for a puppy
Harlo
I want to call my future son Hugo!
~JAS~
I like the Hugo and Claude suggestions original.gif
I'm with you on Rupert OP!

Not a human name but what about Veuve (as in the Champagne) seen as he is apricot/champagne coloured? We Had a cat called Bollinger once for the same reason!
mildred76
Max and Oscar are way to popular, at least Rupert is less common.
My mums Maltese is Roger, it was because he was her foster dog so she called him Roger the Lodger but she decided to keep him and they are both stuck with the name. It suits him though.
Original Greenbag
I want to call my future sons Max and Theo. Your Mum's Puppy cannot have those names - i have baggsed them.

Rupert is a fine name. You have no right to interfere with her naming rights.

STFU, please.
mad madam mim
can you share a pic so we can see what he looks like?
Original Greenbag
So much anger, Harlo.

What about 'Ralph'? We had a dog called Ralph. He was cute.
Harlo
I don't have any photos yet sad.gif

OK, the list now consists of:

Hamish
Oscar
Milo
Rupert

She is on holidays and has instructed me to present the above to Dad (who didn't want another puppy to begin with) and let him choose. Which basically means I win. He will hate Rupert.

Original Greenbag
Milo, then. You can't call a dog 'Hamish'. Not a poodle, anyway. At least Rupert is a little bit French, sort of.
Harlo
Sif I care what you think.
Riotproof
I immediately thought Samson.
ToodlePopsMum
I'd say let your mum call it what she wants - its her puppy.
Jen1
I would go with Milo.
cardamom
Milo is cute.
SexyCat
Rupert makes me think of Anthony Stewart Head on Buffy (Giles).

I like it. I also like Giles.
The Old Bag
I absolutely think an apricot toy poodle should have a pooncy name like Rupert!

At least she didn't name it Bao Zhao (Bao for short).

I think Rupert is an extremely good choice for him. Theodore would be good too but not just Theo. Oscar and Max are too common as dogs names for a cute little apricot poodle that's not really run of the mill and Dexter is something that seems right for a larger, crazy dog.

Other names that might suit:
Romeo
Julius
Alistair
Lorenzo
Atticus
Darcy
Mickey
Alfie
Dougal
Digby
Louis
Amanda_R
I think Rupert would work well.

My suggestion is Gloria or Shirley. Perfect for a male toy poodle. Tounge1.gif And yes I'm serious, lol.

Jacques.
