I have about 4 weeks to go. We are 100% definate on a boys name, but still swinging on a girls name. My DS is Mitchell, and both my DH & I like Maddison for a possible girls name. But I'm just not sure about having 2 kids beginning with M.
we have a couple of others we are throwing around, but I'm not convinced on any them really

My brother and sister both have names starting with the same letter, and it doesnt seem to be a problem. If you really like the name, go with it.

If you like the name do it. Yes they are both M but they are different sounds Mi and Ma.

I wouldn't, as it goes against one of my naming rules, but there's nothing wrong with it. If it's your fav name, I say go for it.

Go for it if you love the names. Really in the scheme of things it's not a big deal. Maybe if the rhyme or something I'd be discouraged, but the same first letter... not worth changing your mind on a name you like.

I have 2 'C' names. I'm not one to worry about intials.
It matters more to me that I love a name

My brother and I share the name letter with our first names and we love it. We have never encountered any problems or anything.

I don't think it makes a difference as they are different sexes. If mail comes for Mr M xxx then you know who it is for and vice versa.

i dont see anything wrong with it.
we have 1 M name and 2 E names, if we have a girl this time around we will call her a M name too.

I would definitely avoid it as much as I possibly could.

I have two "E" names and wish I didn't.
DD's name was the only one hubby and I could agree on, and my Grandmother (who was very ill at the time and has since passed away) loved it as it was her Grandmother's name - however I still wish we could have found another name that didn't begin with E.

This. I have 2 'C' names too

I briefly wondered about it, but one is for DS who's 9 and the other for DD who's 8 months, plus they are different sounds too.
If you love the name I would definitely use it

I personally don't like kids in the same family having names starting with the same letter.

My children are both Js - wasn't planned that way, just ended up with us liking those names the best.
They're 18 and 20 now and it's never caused us any issues. In fact, labelling clothes was easier: J Smith on everything!

I'm glad we stuck with names we liked rather than worry about how they sounded as a set, although I think they sound fine anyway.
DS is Miles. If DD had been a boy she would have been Magnus - it was the only name with both loved, so we would have had 2 M names.
Doesn't really bother me at all.

When we were naming our children, we tried to use a different initial for each child. It was just one of those things that was important to us.

I've done it.
I've got DS Marley and DD2 Mila (Me-la).
I'm not bothered by having 2 or more kids with same first initial.

I've done it - without actually realising it (long story) and it worked out really well.
If you love the name do it, the alternative is to have a different initial but a name you don't love as much.
I always say better a name you love and everyone hates (double bonus if EB hates it as it means you have strength), than a name you don't love.

I don't really see a problem with it as long as the names themselves aren't too similar.
What are the other options if you don't mind me asking (I'm just being nosy

)

Thanks Ladies, it never bothered me having to 'M' names, but it did bother my DH & now he's come around, I find it bothering me
The other names we are thinking of are Ruby & Sienna. I think at this point, we may just be keeping all 3 names available, and if we do have a girl we'll decide when she arrives.

DS1 has the same inital as me. DS2 and DD have the same initial.
No problem here.
As PP said for boy/girl the same initial is easy as things are addressed to Master/Miss

Sienna and Ruby are a million times nicer than Maddison anyway.
