Hi everyone,
I am new to this twin thing and expecting my babies in Feb 2006...Just had some quick queries... Does the hospital give you two cots for the babies to sleep in or do they sleep together??? Do they give you a room of your own with twins? And is the nursing staff usually helpful when assisting with feeding, bathing etc...
I only ask as in the past I have always been left to my own devices, and am worried that this time I won't find it all as routine and natural, as I will have two babies to care for...A little scared...

Might sound like stupid qestions but just am curious..

Thanks
Rachael

Hi Rachael

Firstly, congratulations! You are really going to have a houseful original.gif

A lot will depend on your hospital, and how busy they are at the time your twins arrive. I was in a private hospital and had a private room. The girls had a double bassinette to sleep in, but they only had one available, so if there were more than one set of twins then it was first in first served - everyone else would get 2 singles.

I found the midwives very helpful - some more so than others. The girls were in Special Care for 10 days and had feeding problems so I got to know the midwives very well and got lots of attention. Mind you, I was also a first time Mum so that probably helped too. Perhaps you could talk with the midwives at the hospital before the big day at a 'pre-admission interview' and ask lots and lots of questions?

Also, if you join your local MBA they may have Hospital Contacts who can come and visit you in hospital.

Best wishes for a long and boring pregnancy.

Hi there & Congratulations on your twin pregnancy, i had my twins in May this year, i was in hospital for 11 days due to the fact Korbin was in ICU & they didn't want me to go home until he was back with me and everything was o.k. I found the nurses/midwifes so helpful in any and every way. Don't be scared to ask for help... thats what they are there for. They called me "little miss independent" as i wanted to do it all on my own. Well i wanted to as i wouldn't have and didn't want a lot of help at home. I want to enjoy & have them to ourselves as much as i can as they don't stay little forever.
Enjoy your pregnancy & stay in hospital as long as you can. original.gif
