hi ladies

well i think i completely jinxed myself with the boys sleeping through on tuesday night as since then we have had really average nights with them both being awake.

i notice that they are starting to set each other off with their crying. do any of you have your twins in separate rooms? i am thinking it could really be our only option - or else like i did last night - i left one to fall asleep in bed and rocked the other to sleep, so when i put him to bed they were both asleep as if he was awake he would have of woken his brother up. I hate doing this as it is against everything i have done before and they were self settling really well before too. Any tips? BJ's theory is to let them cry and they will go to sleep, but the thing is they wont and i can't stand to listen to it, i would rather give them a big cuddle.

any advice is appreciated

rach xx

It is very hard I know.

We went through the same thing around the same time. And to be honest caused ourselves a big problem. We put DS in bed to go to be and rocked DD (she was harder to get to sleep). She got too used to this and then would only be rocked to sleep and would not self settle at all. So everytime she woke in the night had to be rocked to sleep, sometimes up to 4 times a night.

I had had enough of this by about a month and decided to do controlled crying. We had a tough few nights where DD would wake and cry during the night but we were strong (very hard) and stuck to our guns and it only took about a week (each night got better and better) and she was self settling again and sleeping through. They rairly wake each other at all now.

I know it is so hard to just listen to them cry belive me they will get better. But, dont make a rod for your back (I did it and regretted it). I remember one night I put them to bed and DD was screaming and I closed all the doors and sat in my walk in wardrobe where I couldnt hear her and just cried. I know it is extremely hard but you have to be strong for your own sanity.

Another option is maybe to separate them until they are settling themselves okay and then putting them together again.

It does get better! original.gif
