Hi Everyone
I am the first one on our new chatting group and Krystal and Storm are climbling on every thing and throwing tanties most of today because they were drawing on their great grandmother's b day card and I said that they had to finish and stop using the pens. well all hell broke loose and I had 2 screaming child on my hands and until I gave them a dummy each, as we wouldn't stop crying and screaming at the top of their voices. I hope everyone is well and all the children are happy and not making you insane

HI all

I've not been around much of late what with having to wait months and months for our decent internet connection and well... life with two almost two year olds is a bit busy as you can all imagine! But here's a quick update...

Zoe and Izzy will be two in November and let me tell that is approaching waaayyy too fast for my liking!!!

We've had a bit of a rough winter with lots of mild illnesses keeping us cooped up at home and going mildly nuts... but I guess I am thnakful that is hasn't been anything too serious!

The girls are VERY busy at the moment - lots of role playing and talking... two and three word sentances have just started to burst out in the last week and I just love it. When Zoe says 'cake please mamma' how can I refuse?????? They are loving playing together until things go horribly wrong, which they always do, then they can't stand each other for a few minutes and only I will do... but thankfully they forget quickly and go back to loving each other again!

They STILL call themselves the same name though! Initially they would call both themselves and their sister Izzy... then finally they cottoned on to Zoe but now they are both Zoe! I can't win!!!! It is rather funny though when Zoe comes in crying and cross at Izzy but is saying "zoe zoe zoe"!

Anyway that's all from us.. hopefully I'll be able to pop in more often from now on! Hope everyone else is happy and well!

Kate

We are moving house! Yipee!!

Hi all

Just a quick pop in to say farewell to all you lovely ladies in this chat thread...we are wandering off to the 2+ thread tomorrow. WT?

We have had a lovely few days after weeks and weeks of colds, gastro etc (mostly me sad.gif - the girls seem to sail through them, they knock me for a six!).

This morning we made sausage rolls for the girls' birthday party on the weekend. Very messy, and there are a few 'misshapen' ones but fun all the same.

The girls are saying each others' names now (or a version of them anyway). Paige calls Hannah 'Nanna' and Hannah calls Paige 'Podge' - hopefully they'll get it right soon and they won't be call each other those names into adulthood original.gif

Well, we're off to the world of toilet training and big beds...argh! Enjoy your 1-2 year olds, it'll be over before you know it. See you round the boards.

Hey girls,

Just thought I would post and say hello and bump us up the thread a bit.
Not much going on here. Twins are both on Robitussin twice a day to clear up a slight cold with a nasty cough (caught from Mumm and Daddy!) The good news is that their chests are actually clear but it just sounds awful!
They are getting up to lots of mischief, though are playing happily right now for once.
Have noticed that Joe has become a complete and total BOY! He's mad about cars, planes and the Wiggles, while Scarlett is much more into her baby doll, books and Hi5!

I don't know how that happened but it's rather sweet. We actually bought Scarlett a Cabbage Patch Doll yesterday which will get put away for Xmas/birthday. I also want to buy her a doll pram of her own. We already have a Tonka truck and some Megabloks cars for Joe. It wasn't meant to be that way but just seems to be the way it has worked out with what they are interested in.

Nicolie - I'll see you in January in the over 2yrs Multiples thread! Happy Birthday to Hannah and Paige! Hope the sausage rolls were yummy!

Katef - It is soooo lovely to see you back on the boards! Have missed seeing you about an dnow I get to see you here and in the scrapping threads. Scarlett and Joe still are having issues with who is who when you show them a picture but they do only respond to their own name when you call them..go figure!

Rosie - Hope that the girls are behaving for you. I'm planning on trying to do some more drawing with the twins this week as I have a big wad of Avon paper that Mum gave me and I just bought some new chunky crayons!

Well that's all from me for now, they are sleeping mostly well at night but have had a few unsettled nights due to their coughs.
Anyone else have a picky eater? Scarlett is sending me mad while Joe will eat virtually anything I give him.

Jo

Hi all,

Just wanted to say Hello to all the Mums of 1-2 year old Multiples. I'm looking forward to chatting to you all.

We have just returned from our first camping trip (Fraser Island) with our 18 month old girls; Gabriella and Alexandra. WE SURVIVED!!!!!!!!!

The girls had an absolute ball. Hubby and I need a holiday to recover! But we did have a fun time.

Gabi loved the freedom and would wander off and check out the neighbours tent and set up. After a few days they stayed around the camp more Thank goodness!

We went to the beach each day and went on many walks around the camp searcing for wildlife. The girls were especially fond of the 'kooka's'.

We stayed in the fenced camp ground at Waddy Point and we had no nasty dingo encounters-Thank goodness!

I still put them down for their afternoon sleep (as I really did not want them to lose this sleep) and on the last day we heard lots of giggling after 1/2 hour of silence. I went to look in the tent and here they were out of their portacots giggling and chasing each other around the tent. They had both proceeded to take anything that wasn't tied down in the tent and plonked it into Alex's portacot. Hubby and I couldn't stop laughing!Prior to this they have never gotten out of their portacots, so I guess its mattress on the floor from now on!

Well I hope you are all having a positive day and can't wait to meet more Mums and hear of your little angels tricks.

Hey Girls,

Does anyone else have an over-adventurous little man (or two)?
I mentioned last post that Joe is a total boy but it's getting ridiculous. We have large windows in our living area that meet at the corner of the room, and go all the way down to the floor. We have our sofas in front of the windows so that their arms touch on one end and in the little square that is created by the sofas and windows we have a litte glass table.
Today Joe went over the arms of the sofa and fell on the glass table, ending up between the table and sofa!!
I almost died! He seems okay, a small red mark on one cheek but he must have clunked his head somewhere but can't find any lumps. He was sooky the rest of the morning, a little pale at first but got his colour back, drank his bottle but left his sandwich and went to sleep (it's naptime now)

What can I do to prevent accidents with a kid like this? What if the glass table had broken?!? I feel like I need to move the tables out (DH and I had been discussing this anyway) but I am starting to feel like I need to get rid of the sofas too! He just can't sit nicely on a sofa he needs to jump about on them which is why I don't normally let them up there at all.

Gosh he is just a disaster waiting to happen he has so much energy.

Anyhow thanks for letting me get these feelings out, much calmer now but boy it scared me!

Oh and welcome JenM

twinoski
ZEBETTE ~ I bet you were scared. OMG. it is so hard to know what to do. the safest thing would be to move everything out of your house and just have four walls but even then I'm sure they will find destruction. My two have only just turned one so not quite that adventurous. We did have a glass table which we moved out the back along with the rest of my life IYKWIM. He may have learnt his lesson when he fell but you can never be guarenteed can you!? If I was you I would think about moving it just until he stops climbing over your sofa. glass is just too scary isn't it. My sister used to give my niece a little choccie or something she loved when she sat nicely on the sofa. she is three now and has such wonderful manners. could be a girl thing though too. I really am not being much help am I!!!!!! hope it is just a really quick faze!

VETTE ~ wow you went camping. How exciting. I love camping but have not been since falling pregnant. We used to rough it a bit.... no air mattress etc. etc. I don't know if I could do that now. I think I would need all the necessities. How did you go?

JEN ~ hello again. forever following eachother. LOL. your bubs are only 8days younger than my two. I have just changed their routine to one sleep. It can be really trying to get them through to after lunch but then they have a decent couple of hours. fingers crossed. ;p Does Finn and Shelby eat much? My girls are like hoovers. they never stop.

hope you have a great day

My girls are sick at the moment too. It seems like it is going on forever. Two weeks ago they got diagnoses with a 'virus' (isn't it always!!) Then a week later I was told they have strep throat and then 3 days later Rebecca got gastro and then Katherine got it 4 days later. I have NO clean clothes as they have all been thrown up on and I am struggling to keep up with the washing.

The girls are so miserable too. They have basically cried all week and just want to be cuddled but then get sh*tty when you are cuddly the other one at the same time and start wacking each other.

There has been some very sweet moments too. yesterday Katherine was crying uncontrollably and I had tried to comfort her but she just seemed to get more upset. I let her walk off and Rebecca followed I got up to check on her a couple of minutes later to find Katherine lying on the ground crying while Rebecca rubbed her back. It was so sweet.

Rebecca seems to be a bit better today not quite as sooky but Katherine still just wants to be held. The worst part is is that Katherine is hungry so you give her something to eat and then she gets the runs but how do you explian to a 17 month old that she can't eat that. I've really tried to stick to the dry bickies and stuff like that but it still explodes out of her.

Anyway that's where we are at. Hopefully the girls will improve of the next week. Hope everyone else is well.

Take care,
Mel

ANGELA- if you haven't already - get a vapoouriser, they are the best for stuffy noses and coughs...I have used mine heaps with the girls. Having DD1 at school she brings home every little sniffle and cough I never had much faith in them before, but have since changed my mind. The minute I suspect a cold out comes the "Steam Machine" My GP said he only thinks they work if the steam is dripping off the walls - good for coughs, bad for paintwork etc...but we haven't had it like that at all and it has defin itely helped my girls...i always make sure I air the room out well during the day though.

VETTE- Hi and welcome. I can't beleive you went camping! I HATE camping and couldn't even imagine let alone attempt camping with the girls. The mind boggles! W e ll done!

JO- YEP! I would have had a stroke! My Hannah is inclined to be a climber and uses all manner of things to help her in her mountaineering expolits...so far she has only managed to scale relatively low summits (couch and chairs) but I am just waiting for the "assault on Everest"....OH GREAT more grey hairs!
Tounge1.gif

MEL- I hope your girls are soon feeling better...It's so hard having them sick at the same time...you just feel so helpless!

JEN- Welcome and hi! Another routine nazi here!

as for me. I really feel like things are going well at my house now. Not that they were really terrible or anything, I just feel like the girls are more fun now. They are both walking everywhere now, which is soooooooooo great for my back! Thank you! It just doesn't seem like such a hard slog- uphill -wearing gumboots backwards-walking against the wind- IYKWIM!

I have definitely been getting out of the house alot more which I really needed to do, I think I was suffering from cabin fever over winter. It just seems like things have fallen into place...no doubt we will have our bad days, but at the moment there are alot more good than bad!

Angela,

I just wanted to say I agree with Sharyn, use a vaporiser. My Dr says they're not that good but I think it makes a huge difference. I've had nights where the girls won't sleep and have used the vaporiser and they have slept through. I use a little bit of euculyptus in mine but you don't have too, I think just the steam helps.

Take care,
Mel

wow.... it is very quiet in here isn't it?!?!?!?

ANGELA ~ how is Jessica and Nicola? are they better yet? my gosh they really copped it didn't they. They have been sick for a few weeks now. How are you holding up? my girls had bronchitus when they were about 4months old. I used a steam vapouriser with eucalypt and lots of hot showers. Vics on the chest and back and lots of fess little noses. Are you going to HI 5?

NICOLIE ~ I think you have moved on to the big girls thread but I hope the party went well.

SHARYN ~ I am so happy things are going so well for you. It does get hard on your back especially if you have to get up during the night as well.... your body never really rests. Once my girls started walking they were so much happier as well. They weren't as frustrated. Now they are in to everything though. The only downside I am finding now is that when I go out they don't like to be in the pram long they want to get out and run but unfortunately sometimes I just like to go out alone and this proves a huge problem. What do you other Mums do in this case?????.... phone a friend? LOL.

MEL ~ how is Katherine and Rebecca. You have copped it as well haven't you. The thought of Rebecca consoling her sister melted my heart. That is just so sweet. Hope you got through the washing. Sometimes I take a day off from the washing. You know do one load instaed of five!!!! then the next day I'm like.... ohhhh why didn't I just do it all yesterday!!!!!! My girls both suffered really bad reflux until they were about 10.5 months old so the whole throwing up thing on everything I can totally sympathise with.

JO ~ where are you? Busy girl!!!! did you end up rearanging the house! Kids hey or should I say climbers. Have you found any solutions yet as to how to get them to sit on a sofa? Not looking forward to that milestone. I think Tiahna will be a climber. She tries to get her leg up on everything... activity table... her sister.... she has had no luck yet so she is still floor bound. Cross fingers. Any tips?

VETTE ~ How are you? How is Gabriella and Alexandra? still waiting to hear your tips for camping. OMG!

JEN ~ where you hiding girlfriend!?!?!?!?!?!? LOL.

as for us.... we have been trying the one sleep thing but it isn't really working. The girls are only sleeping for one hour which makes them unbearable by 3.30pm. Ang how are your girls going with the one sleep? Don't know if I should just go back to two sleeps again. I love palying with the girls because they learn so much everyday. They know where their head is and they get so [proud of themselves when I say "where is your head" and they both bang on their heads. Too cute! Madelyn said duck last night in the bath. OMG. that is a hugey for us as they babble alot but not too much more than mama, dada, nana and bubba, oh and they do the strangest grunt when they see our dog. LOL.
hope you all have a wonderful day and fight off those virus's
Jodi

Hey all,

Yes we are still here and I do read the posts but don't often get a chance to reply as you can imagine. It's school holidays though now so at the moment they are playing with their big sister and i have a couple of minutes to say hello!

Jodie - We haven't yet moved the furniture about. he has certainly stopped getting up on the sofa so much though but I don't think that will last very long.
If you are finding the one nap a day thing isn't working for them yo may be better going back to two naps. We moved the naptime gradually back until it became one big after lunch nap.

Sharyn - Hey there! So great to hear things are going along nicely in your house. I do mostly feel the same..must be the quiet lull just before they hit two! original.gif Can't wait for the weather to stay nice for more than a few hours at a time here though but we are heading back into rain for the next few days *sigh*
How's Meg going? Is she still enjoying being a big sister?

Mel - how is Rebecca and Katherine now? Hoping they have gotten over the worst of their nasties. It's so hard when they are both clingy at the sam etime but won't share a lap! Hope you are coping okay with them.

Welcome Angela! Sorry to hear your two are sick also. It's really not a very good time of year is it?

Well we are going along okay at the moment. Twins had coughs last week (as we all did) but it seems to have settled after a week of Robitussin before bed. They are absolutely flooring us with the amount of new words that they are coming out with over the last 4 days. Must be a new word spurt! Last night I was on the phone with my sister in London and Scarlett was squishing me to get to the phone so I said "It's Auntie..can you say Auntie?" and she said "Arnie" to which my sister was absolutely thrilled to bits! Other new words for them both this week include Joe learning "Grandma" pronounced "Am-ma", Scarlett learning "Lucy" pronounced "ooosee" and others such as fish, mucky, hungry, pyjamas and bottle(more clearly than ever) and we even got a please out of Scarlett too!

anyhow that's enough rambling from me I better go see what the 3 of them are up to.

Speak soon

gabi&Lexie'smum
Hi all,

Got some time now to reply and check in!

Hope you are all having a good week!

ROSIE I am with you on the climbing. Are Krystal and Storm still climbing the lounge and anything higher than that? Gabi and Alex are climbing onto the lounge and then stage diving head first off the lounge onto the carpet! Giggling the whole time, like they know its a naughty thing to do!

KATE How are you going with moving? I hope it all goes well and your'e settled in before you know it!

JENM Congratulations on Finn and Shelby turning 1!!
Its such a milestone and the next 6 months are increasingly more fun. That's great they are having 2 sleeps still. I dropped the girls down to 2 sleeps when they were 1 and then around 17 months they started having just the 1 sleep. I also am a routine addict. It makes life so much easier and everyone knows whats happening next etc!

JODI My hubby and I bought a lot of camping gear many years before we had the girls and I have had camping hols all my life, so we had a lot of gear! We have a 6 person dome tent (only 1 room)2 portacots, our Q bed air mattress and all the cooking stove, lamps and my sisters tarp, portacot to put around the open fire etc. It was challenging but well worth it as the girls had a ball. I would recommend going somewhere only a short distance from where you live,(2=3 hours drive)go with family or friends with kids so you have extra sets of hands and only 3-5 days as by the 5th day we had had enough. We were keen to get back to our own environment.

ANGELA Welcome to you and Jessica and Nicola. I hope the girls are recovering from bronchitis and your life is getting easier. Nothing worse than them both sick and wanting 'Mumma'. Looking forward to hearing what your angels are getting up to!

MEL Hi Mel, just wondering how Katherine and Rebecca are feeling? I hope they are getting better and that is the last of the dreaded wintry colds and flu. Toch wood Gabi and Alex have been cold free for a few months. Maybe the warmer Gold Coast weather helps a bit.

SHARYN How are you, Hannah and Josie? Yes I think we may have been a little sick in the head when we decided LETS GO CAMPING! We too got rid of that winter cabin fever. We have been seeking out all the fenced parks on the Gold Coast 2-3 times a week and have started swimming lessons this week! This warmer weather makes me want to get out and about a lot more.

ZEBETTE I now what you mean about new word spurt! Its amazing how many words they pick up and then say later down the track. The girls have just had a spurt like you described. Gabi repeats nearly every last word of your sentence. Her most recent would be 'nicpic' (picnic), park, people, top (as in shirt), keys and plenty more. Alex is less clear and forth coming as I guess big sis is a chatter box! But she has started to try different words too!

Gabi and Alex's latest trick is climbing onto the sofa and jumping and giggling and them squealing as they launch head first onto the carpet. I have put the cushions around to soften the landing and they only do it when my back is turned - cheekiy monsters. Also the other fave is chasing each other the length of the lounge giggling and playing 'I see' or peek a boo with blankets on their heads.

Well I hope this hasn't been too long and that you have all had a good week. Look forward to hearing from you all soon!

Hi again everyone!

VETTE- thank goodness for the warmer weather, I am so looking forward to taking my girls swimming too.

JO- Meg is great thanks! Now that she has her arm out of plaster and is doing everything normally again, and she was able to go back swimming last week which she was so thrilled about...she loves it! I know what you mean about the lull before the storm...I just keep thinking about 2 X Terrible Twos!!!! Mind you, Meg was never a terrible two child...fingers crossed hey????

JODI- we haven't quite got to the pram rebellion stage yet...but I'm waiting for it. They seem to be asserting their independence more and more each day! Now when we go to the park, where they would happily sit and watch Meg play...they want out now too play too.

We had our Early learning playgroup session today...and it looks like this will be our last term...which is good becasue it means they are happy with the girls development...even Josie who had so much trouble getting mobile.

Must go to pick up Meg from school now!j

Hello ladies,
sorry I have not been here I have been busy busy working. I only got to see my baby girls for less than an hour today and it broke my heart. I wanted to keep them up but they were falling asleep practically standing up. I just wanted to cry. I can't believe it upset me so much. I realise now that my usual day a week thing is all I can handle at the moment. Sorry for the vent just really needed to get that one out.
The girls have learnt where their head is. My sister looked after them today and she could not believe how much the girls eat. My girls would eat all day if they could. Is this normal?

ZEBETTE ~ I love finding out what words they are coming out with. "mucky" that is so cute. What a gorgeous age.

VETTE ~ I am glad mine can't climb the sofa yet but I know it will not be long. I will panic when they go head first so I'll remember to put cushions there! Maddy and Tiahna love to play peek a boo around the corner at eachother. Gosh they make me laugh.... they are just so funny.

SHARYN ~ that is great news about the bubs in playgroup session.

ANGELA ~ I can't believe the doc gave you a double dose. That is so incredibly dangerous. How could he have been so careless!!!!! I must say I would be ringing up that doctor! Even just to make him/her aware.
So glad your girls are better. Poor littel cherubs. I am still trying with the one sleep but I think it has been hard because their first molar has just come through so they have been unsettled. I can't believe Jessica and Nicola slept for three hours. I would have been lost! How have they been sleeping the last few days. How did you know they were ready?

JEN ~ sometimes I only have a quick minute spare so I only get a chance to have a read and not reply. I always go missing for a few days. LOL. I am thinking two sleeps might still be best for Maddy and Tiahna. It is becoming such a struggle to keep them awake in the morning that it just doesn't seem fair! Hmmmmm... what to do!!!???
HOW EXCITING WITH FINN AND SHELBY ON THEIR WALKING. keep it up guys you are going great. well Jen yes I think this is it. Keep the camera on charge 'cause it's full steam ahead. How exciting. Maddy and Tiahna were so much happier when they could walk. They lost all of their frustration when they could do everything themselves.
that is a shame about your mothers group. I really don't think that is possible just yet to take two to a pool at this age..... you might have to find another Mothers group in your area. Were you in the Mother group for long?

ROSIE ~ I hope Krystal and Storm are feeling better. Poor little sweethearts. We have just put locks on all our cupboards. I keep forgetting they are there! I hurt myself everytime I open the cupboard! LOL.
I think that was everyone
hope everyone is well and happy
Jodi

Hi all!

I figured I should get me act together and post here as my girls will be two in a few weeks!! ARRGGHHHH!!!!

Where did the time go?? How did I suddenly become the Mum of two two year olds??? I console myself by saying thet are not REALLY two until their corrected birthday at the end of January... well I can live in denial if I try!

Anyway we've had a shocking run of illness here since we moved almost 4 months ago now. Last week I had Zoe with a lovely chest infection and croup and had two visits to the clinic to hold her down while having a ventolin nebuliser not to mention holding her down 4 hourly for the spacer... lovely! She is much better now though and actually one of the worst things about it was that the girls were seperated for Zoe's second neb visit.

The first doctors visit I took them both on my own and Izzy sat on the floor at my feet and cried her eyes out while I held her crying sister on the Neb. So that was horrible enough, but the next day DH was home so we dropped he and Izzy off at Big W to buy a Wiggles DVD while went for the neb... Zoe cried from the minute Izzy was taken out of the car and didn't stop until they were back together. And Dh said Izzy was the same, momentarily distracted by things at the shops but very distressed and asking for Zoe all the time.

Anyway after that long ramble... just curious as to whether any of you also have this problem??? My girls are more than happy for me to leave them with my parents etc but take one and leave the other and they go to pieces. I am starting to think about organising to spend more time one on one with them but it just isn't going to work if they get so upset to be apart. Maybe it is just too soon.

Anyway how is everyone else doing???

Sounds like I am not the only one who's had two sickies... hope everyone else is feeling better and roll on summer and hopefully a few less bugs!

How is your super climber Jo???
My girls are climbers too.. and Zoe is a leaper.. just jumps of things with no fear at all! So far it's only been bruises and scrapes but I am waiting for a bone to break! I guess I have the attitude that I can't save them from everything and although we've made our house pretty safe and are trying to encourage them to sit on the couch and not leap off they still do it and I just sort of live with it as best I can!
Love hearing about all the new words Jo... my girls have just suddenly burst out with soooo many words too. At one point a few weeks ago I was starting to wonder about Izzy's speech as she said nothing understandable but now you can't keep her quiet. Their favorite word at the moment is 'sankoo' (thankyou) as they think if they say that they'll get something good! They are also starting to say two and sometimes three word sentences and when Zoe says 'more cake peeeeeeesssseee' how can I refuse?!?!

Vette - oh my girls do the chase each other giggling at the top of their lungs thing! It always makes me smile even when I am really cross!

Sharyn - glad to hear your two cherubs are doing so well! My girls had a major developmental assessment a few weeks ago and we were so relieved to hear they are spot on for their corrected age in almost everything.. except weight... but I am over worrying about that!

Jen - how are the sleeps going?? It took us AGES to go from two sleeps to one. For months they would some days have one small sleep in the morning then another in the afternoon which droves me nuts and other days they's be fine to wait for one bigger sleep mid day. But it will happen eventually.... well hopefully! original.gif That's a bit sad about your mother's group... our found my old one to be a bit the same.. expecting me to turn up to the pool or other places that I just couldn't manage on my own! Luckily now we go to a lovely playgroup - all singeltons except us but the mums are all lovely and soooo helpful and I never need to ask for someone to help as they just do it when they see I need it! Sooooo nice, so I hope you find a playgroup that suits a bit better!

Oh Twinoski - I'd be sad to being away from my girls... as much as they drive me nuts alot I miss them on the rare occasions we spend a whole day apart! So big hugs for you!
Oh and my girls eat like nothing else as well... they would happily eat all day if there was food, especially now they have their little table they come and go and eat off and on all afternoon! They have gotten a little more picky in the last few months and lots of vegies they always ate that won't touch now but in general they are pigs! The mums at playgroup always laugh at how much they eat, they eat all our food then go eat everyone elses.. yet they are still not on the chars for weight!!!

Anyway this has been a bit of an epic.. I must try and check in more often and keep up better, but I am not making any promises as this is birthday season for us (ten family birthdays between now and Christmas!) and I am busy working from home now on a new project a few hours a week .. but I promise I'll try!

hugs!

Hiya everyone!

I just knew I was going to jinx it by saying things were great here!!!! aaaaarrrghghghghghggh!

It looks like the girls have a *MILD* case of chickenpox!!!!! I say mild because they have been vaccinated, and Meg had it about two weeks ago (also vacc.) The GP was a bit reluctant to diagnose CP as she only had about 10 spots and no other illness...the girls are the same, apart from a very slight runny nose?????? Oh well, that's life!

KATE- Nice to see you back again! I'm about to get the girls 18m check done so I will be interested to see about their weight too? Are your girls really tiny? I think H and J are still catching up slowly, but always look so petite compared to full term singletons!!! Our CHN has never been concerned about the weight issue, but I still worry about it, not obsessively...just keep a watchful eye on it. She always says they are so healthy and doing well etc...same with dr. So I guess I shouldn't worry too much about it.

Awful that they have been unwell, but good about their development etc.

I was so fortunate to have access to the early learning centre to help with the developmental side...they have been fantastic...the physio was great in getting Josie moving. The OT's are great too, just in assessin g little things that might need encouraging, but in the scheme of the girls have done very well, which is a relief, as it was always in the back of my mind that they may have probs being early. But they seem to be doing everything that they should for their corrected age.

Hannah was saying something the other day and I couldn't for the life of me work out what it was, it sounded like "Doh doh"...but then I said to her "Don't do that...!" and she said "Don't do..." Well at least I'm pretty sure she said that...but now she walks around saying "Don't do, don't do" over and over....! They seem to be learning more and more. I asked Hannah a question last night and she nodded "yes" which was the right response for the situation. And Josie says "more" when she wants more food, and "again" when she wants to do something fun again. And they both love music and dancing, it's sooooo cute when they hold hands to dance!

Oh boy, this really turned into an epic ramble! Sorry to bore you all! I only wanted to tell you all about the spots!ü Tounge1.gifp

Yes the new words are still pouring out here. I said to Scarlett this morning "oh you smell like Pee" and she said "pee"
She's a much better talker than Joe, much clearer in what she says. I often hear her saying things like "down, det down" "bad boy Joey" "no Joey no" She's very bossy with him, and even shouts at him in the mornings once she is awake so that he will be awake too! they've beem using "tankyoo" with each other since they were about 16 months old and I must say very proudly that they have impeccable manners when it comes to saying thankyou, so now we are starting to work on please.

As for the seperation issues Joe is quite happy to be taken out and about without Scarlett (he's had a couple of trips to the Drs without her and a walk up to school and back) but Scarlett is always thrilled to bits when he comes back..like she hasn't seen him in weeks or something! Neither will sleep if the other isn't there, but if one is crying their head off the other can still fall asleep quite happily so long as they can see each other.

Sorry to hear about the CP Sharon, still sounds very very mild. Abbey and the twins had them when the twins were 9 months old and it was awful !!

That's all from me for now as I am enjoying their naptime quiet..then we are off to a BBQ later..(not very appealing when it's blowing a gale and raining fiercely!)

ok this time I promise to only reply once!!!

Don't knwo what happened earlier... think my computer might be a bit loopy today or it could just be me! original.gif

Sharyn - sooo sorry to hear about the CP... especially since you've vaxed so you'd expect to not have to deal with that now! What a pain! I hope it's only a nice mild dose and doesn't cause too many problems!

My girls aren't super tiny (well I don't think so) but they are light for their height... they are both almost 84cms and around 10kgs... Zoe now just under as she lost about 500grams while sick. We've battled weight with them though since they were born, partly because they were teeny when they were born but mostly because they have severe reflux and refused to eat often as babies and would loose instead of gain or just not gain at all for months.

But like you my girls look little compared to most other kids their own age (even based on their corrected age), and I guess since I am not exactly small and neither is DH we just never expected to have petite children! But I won't be terribly upset if they stay tall and skinny for the rest of their lives!!!

My girls love to dance too!! They often go round and round in circles till they fall down and die laughing!

Jo sounds like you have little parrots too! My girls just pulled out all of their father's clothes from the wardrobe and I said to them 'oh your father will be furious' and they both said in unison 'fooowious' and giggled a lot!

Angela - I'd go get it check out just to be safe. It's most likley nothing but on the off chance it could be a problem it is much better to know early and probably before she starts walking so you can get on top of it quickly. I am sure your GP could help or referr you on if needed.

And if it helps my girls hit most of their major milestones literally 24 hours apart in the first year or so but since then the gap has widended a lot. Zoe crawled and walked loooooong before Izzy did and her speech developed earlier... though I suspect that might be a legacy of the TTTS and issues with Izzy's brain development so we might be the exception rather than the norm!

Ok two posts (not coutning all the oopses from before!) in one day is more than enough for me!

hugs

Kate

OMG..... I am really sorry ladies but please give me advice. For the last two nights my girls have screamed continually when we put them to bed. Tonight has gone for an hour and a half and they have only just nodded off.... fingers crossed. Every time I would go in the room they were fine as soon as I left or DP did they would begin to scream uncontrolably to the point where they could hardly breathe. I tried to do the wait a while and let them cry for a bit as I knew that nothing was wrong with them. I have given them bonjela, panadol, bottle, water and nothing seems to work except pure exhaustion. I can't handle seeing my girls have to get like this in order to fall asleep. Has anyone else had a problem like this. They have just been so irritable. They had their needles but they were 9 days ago now.

Spot Update: we have survived the weekend with no dramas, the girls are still spotty but don't seem to suffering any other symptoms...have an appointment with GP this a/noon...think I will ask for a refund on the vaccs!!!!!!!Ï original.gif
I guess as they haven't been "sick" it was worth having the vaccs done!

Angela- I would get the foot checked out, start with you CHN they can often refer you without having to see a GP, or she may say see your Dr. It's best to get these little things early before they do cause a problem. Go with your instinct!

Jodi- gosh your little mites have been putting on a turn for you! I guess it could be from the vaccs although seems a little long, it could be ears????? It could just be testing you????? Have you changed anything recently....foods, routine?????? Hope you can sort something out soon.

Jo- Hope you didn't get blown away!

That's it from me!

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know Katherine and Rebecca are much better now, thankfully. Hopefully we can have a couple of no sickness weeks.

Jen - That's really disappointing about your Mother's Group surely they have enough brains to realise going to the pool every week would be hard on you. Maybe have a word to them and they could go to the pool every second week or something rather than excluding you all together.

Hope everyone is well.

Take care,
Mel

Hey girls,

Angela - well we have a few things in mind or on layby for the twins so far, some joint pressies and some of their own.

Joe - Megabloks Car Ramp tub, Tonka Mighty Big Digger vehicle, a Mike the talking Mower (from my Mum),

Scarlett - Cabbage Patch doll, Dusty the talking vaccuum (from my Mum), My Little Pony small plush,

Joint pressies/ Stocking fillers: Water table (from my Mum), set of 6 Weebles, a harmonica each (from my Nana for them), Wiggles CD or DVD (which is from my Nana too!), 4 Vroomers from Little Tikes (plane, helicopter and 2 cars with pull-back action), set of 6 helmets (ie pirate hat, construction worker, fireman, policeman etc), Ring Toss game

That's all I can remember at the moment, most are just small inexpensive things and a couple of bigger toys..would love to get them an outside playgym though!

Sharon - Great to hear the girls are on the mend. Joe was an absolute misery when he had it, poor little thing.

Well we had a nice enough weekend, lazed about on Saturday and then went the BBQ, which ended up okay as we pretty much stayed indoors, kids were all really well behaved and I came home with the twins at about 9.30pm and DH and Abbey stayed on until almost 1am just talking with the neighbours.
About to get twins up from their nap and hope they will be as well behaved as they were this morning..total angels.

I do need urgent help with one thing though..can anyone recommend anything to stop Scarlett picking at her top lip? It seems to be a habit she started when she gave up her dummy, she used to get a blister on her top lip from sucking during the night without a dummy, it would dry out and be a dry bit of skin which she just picked at, now there is nothing there but she keeps picking and is making her lips dry and bleeding.
I tried lip balm but she keeps licking it off!

Any thoghts as I am going to post this elsewhere on the boards too.

Cheers,

twinmomma
Spot Update: (again) Took the girls to GP and he confirmed a very mild case of chickenpox, thanks to to the vaccs. This morning the spots are already starting to heal up and disappear. They really haven't been bothered by it at all, so I would definitely reccommend the vaccs!

Have a good one! Chat soon!
