I'm now 29 weeks but am already feeling very big and uncomfortable. I can't imagine even fitting behind a steering wheel in a few weeks time.

Just wondering were you able to drive until your twins were born or did you have to stop?

I was driving myself to my ultrasound appointments every 2 weeks up until I delivered at 37.5 weeks. My husband would drive if he managed to get time off work but otherwise I drove. I just had to push the seat back a bit. I wasnt all that big though.

I drove up until a few days before my scheduled c-section. If I didnt have to go anywhere I didnt even brave the big wide world LOL, I had very bad odema so I was on bedrest for the last while. I did drive to the last few appointments and then Mum or Phil would take me to the rest. My gyno/Ob was great we had lots of late arvo appointments when it was cooler and when Phil got home original.gif
It scared me driving around when it got so close to meeting my babies - Its not always your driving its the others around you IYKWIM!

HTH and best of Luck ~ Do you have someone to take you places? I could still physically fit behind the steering wheel that was not the issue...

No_idea!
[color=Teal]Yep, I drove right up until I gave birth (I was nearly 37 weeks). I was pretty big at the end, but still managed to fit behind the wheel! wink.gif

hi all

just dont lay your seat back to have a rest
i remember being pregnant with my boys and with nearly 12 weeks to go i couldnt face walking the whole length of our shopping centre so i had a rest and let my mum go to Kmart, with the intention of her returning and i would drive around to target...
well she returned and when putting the seat back to driving position my waters broke with a gush!!!!!
so beware (its best just to shop and not rest lol)
** the boys were born 10 weeks prem**
good luck

I must admit I stopped driving myself a few weeks before I gave birth (38 and a half weeks). I just felt huge and uncomfortable and didn't feel confident driving. I remember I found it harder to twist around and look over my shoulder when changing lanes. I found it so tiring too. Sounds pathetic now but that's the truth!

I had to swap cars with DH as I couldnt fit behind the steering wheel of my Mazda after week 30. Im comfortable still driving around but reversing or looking backwards has become a bit of a pain in the butt. I just keep driving around until I find a park that I can drive forward out of wink.gif The things we do original.gif

I drove until about 2 weeks before the girls came at 38+4 weeks and the only problem I had was changing gears (manual) as one of the girls was under my ribs and reaching over was really uncomfortable!

Hi there I drove right up to the night of my scheduled c-section, I really didn't have to move the seat back a great deal either, the worst was trying to reverse thou. Good luck & enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. original.gif
Edited to add that i had my c-section @ 36wks

Thanks for your replies. I guess I'll just wait and see how I feel. No probs at the moment but I can't see myself going on any long drives when I'm really big.

I drove until the day before I was induced at 37 weeks. The biggest problem was hauling myself out of the car. I'm fairly tall so maybe my longer arms and legs helped me reach the steering wheel and pedals? Actually, I've just remembered that the hardest part was getting the crutches into the car without hitting myself in the head!! (I was on crutches for SPD in the last month). ;p
