Maybe I should have put this in the venting section but I have mentioned this before here as I think multiple mums may be affected more by this although mums of more than one must go through the same.
DH has recently changed jobs so we can't go grocery shopping together anymore due to his hours so it's down to me and the girls to get it done. One supermarket i went to said they had no double trolleys as the !!!!TWO!!! they had, had been stolen i complained over the internet and got told to ring DM at store who would help me with my complaint and he didn't even know that they had been stolen!!! Then this week I went to another store where I waited 20 minutes for someone to find me one, this was only after I was told there were none there at the moment (they obviously expected me to just leave and go elsewhere) so I stood my ground and said we'll i'll wait until you find one as I have to do my shopping, grrrrr
Don't you think supermarkets should do more to help mums, we don't all conviently have one child, this is just driving me mad as I dread doing the shopping but have to get it done, and why should I do it on late night shopping when this is my 'free time' I don't want to spend it doing the grocery shopping when I could be home doing the ironing!!!!!
What do you mums of triplets do? Who can I complain to when the supermarkets just don't care?
Sorry for my vent but it's driving me mad,
Heather

Hi Heather,
Im yet to have my twins but this issue has been on my mind of late. I've noticed that my local Coles has twin trolleys but that Safeway/Woolworths doesn't. When I asked why I was told that the few twin trolleys they have provided had been stolen and never replaced. So basically I am limited to Coles now (which sucks because Safeway is much nicer and they offer Parents With Prams Parking!!!).

Because I am now too fat to shop by myself I have resorted to online shopping. I dont know if your comfortable using this method but I've found it to be quick, easy and have had no problems with the items that have been delivered.

www.woolworths.com.au

You even get to pick what day and time you would like your order to arrive (not during my afternoon nap please wink.gif)

Heather ~ hugs to you lovie!!! Dh and I still do our food shopping together each week and I have not attempted to do it alone with the babies original.gif
I just tried the online links and Coles/Woolies online are not available in our area sad.gif Spewin, That would have been great to utilise...Oh well

If I had to shop on my own I would call Coles/Woolies and ask them to arrange the trolley to be out the front on my arrival, if possible of course - I am sure if they want the business they will do it original.gif Our local Coles manager has told me to do this if and when i need to original.gif They have junior trolley collectors that are able to do this for customers and they should.

I am not sure of your situation, but MIL/SIL or any of my friends would come running if I asked them to either baby sit while I did the shopping or come with me to push trolley or pram. I am mega paranoid about leaving babies/kids in cars for any amount of time unattended, so i would most definatly have someone with me to get organised with the trolley collection etc...I would just do it on MIL's day off original.gif
Not sure how much I have helped, but I have chatted to the coles manager so perhaps you need to talk to them directly - or even the trolley collectors? The trolly collectors here are a private company that are responsible for the collection, care and maintenance of the supermarket trolley's here, so I am sure they have a Manager to complain to? (Ours is called Trolley's WA)

Hi Heather

Thankfully i have never attempted to shop with both boys. I usually go of a night time and leave the boys in bed and daddy at home with them. I enjoy this as it is my relaxation time as i love grocery shopping. is there anyway you can leave the bubs with your DH when they are sleeping? - maybe go in the evening? I go at 8pm and it is quiet and i get it done quickly I also did shop on line for a while when they were younger and it was great. I found that i didn't impulse shop - which is a big weakness for me!!

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies, unfortunately we do not have internet shopping in our area otherwise I would have jumped at that! All our family is over in the UK so alas no one to leave the girls with or take with us while we shop, i'm sure friends would be glad to help but they have their own children/family and I would feel guilty about taking up their time every week.
I'm going to ring the manager again (he was supposed to call me back but didn't) I think they just see me as a nusance, but now i'm starting to see them as the enemy and am wanting to win this battle I have started!
Wish me luck!!!
Thanks again,
Heather :eg:

Heather,

yes shopping with twins can be a handful and when having to do it on your own it is very hard. I used to do my food shopping on my own from when the boys were quite little I used to push my pram and pull the trolley along which I found I quickly became used to doing it this as the only twin trolley they had was brocken.

I would be on to the shop about twin trolleys as more and more people need them these days with alot of twins and little ones close together they should be looking after everyone plus the days many hubbys are working long hours.
good luck with it all

GO HEATHER!!!!!!!

Just keep on at them until you get the service you deserve!!! Write, ring (tap and knock Tounge1.gif ) until you do. If they have a problem with them being taken why ca n't they control them from the "service" (I use that term very loosely) desks, even if you have to pay a deposit that is refunded when you return the trolley or something like that.

......and WHY for heavens sake would someone WANT to steal a twin trolley??????????????? :confuse:?

Yeah I think it's VERY odd that people steal twin trolleys. What the hell are they going to do with it :quest: LoL.

Twinmomma you make me laugh... thanks!

I think next time I have to wait for a trolley I will go armed with a sign stating why my children are becoming grizzly and bored so everyone can see the bad bad bad service mums recieve.

When I rang the 'manager' back he said he had phoned me and left a message.... hummmmm not on my phone you didn't. He said they are looking into locking up the double trolleys and I should call him if I have any problems again, oh don't you worry you'll be the first to know!!

One of the trolley collectors said that Subway use the double trolleys to cart about their boxes... why do they let them???????

So my message to everyone is if there is no double trolley stand and demand one and don't move until you have spoken to the manager and told him/her what you think of their customer service or lack of it.

Maybe i'll be on the news soon being carted away by the police for protesting!!!!

*lol* You must have had the same week i did with trying to shop... I was trying to find a double baby trolley so i could shop without Ebony & Savannah, as usually they are my little helpers. original.gif Anyhoo ... I could not find one for the life of me asked the trolley boys to find one & apparently they couldn’t.. So no shopping for that day. The next day I went to the shops at 8.30am after dropping the kiddies at school, (shoot I was so organized that morning) wink.gif
Anyway I got one.. Finally... I did what had to be done, came home and rang the Shopping centre manager, apparently it's not up to the center it's self it's up to the actual shops, i.e. Coles, Kmart & Big W.
So they rang each of these shops for me and said that there had been a compliant about the lack of trolleys. So lets see how many they find in the next few weeks... Oh and apparently there are only 5 trolleys for the whole centre.. 2 baby ones, 2 toddles ones & 1 with the seat and trolley separate. Now 3 of these are out for repairs.. Arghhhh !!! I'll keep complaing until there is something done about it..

I so hear you on this one. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised a couple of months back when we had a brand new ritchies supermarket open near us. I went in and it was a lovely clean well laid out place the only thing was no twin trolleys. i mentioned this to the lady at the front of the store as they had all staff on deck signing people up to there community benefit scheme etc and she showed me where the comments and ideas forms were and would I like to fill one in. So I promptly filled one in saying how I loved the store etc but they really needed twin trolleys. Well within a week I had a written reply plus get this they enclosed a $10.00 voucher for taking the time to fill in the form and let them knoow what as a shopper I wanted from the store and within a fortnight there were 3 brand spanking new trolleys (I think they had been on order lol)as well as they really new ones that have the capsule and toddler seat as well so it is a really family freindly supermarket. My twins are toddlers now but if i want them in a trolley I go out of my way to go here now as I never have trouble getting one
Cheers
