We were all set on Willow. Now we have gone off it!!

Dh likes Amelia, and i do as well, but theres 2 things, its popularilty and the fact that its an 'ia' name and both my girls are too... This doesnt *really* bother me, but if we have a 4th girl we'd have to keep the pattern going, but then again I kind of feel like we should and maybe this is why I didnt think Willow fit. I also like Soraya but doesnt really. I prefer less common names, but some are ok as long as they are not overused!

Siblings are
Rhania Elena
Tia Anabella

Im sorry I know ive posted before but its been so long, and I dont know how to find my own posts, and I cant look that far back as it was early in the pregnancy.

Must admit that we are leaning towards Amelia a bit because its used in dh's country, but I just wanted some other beautiful suggestions too!! We are having a girl but if she comes out a 'he' the only name I love is Elijah, dh loves Caius. (though he wants to butcher the spelling sad.gif )
fifi-trixibelle
I think Amelia is really lovely but I think it's too common to fit really well. I like Willow as well but I agree, doesn't seem a really great fit either. Elijah is great for a boy and I think it fits well.

I love Soraya as a girl's name, and Willow is really sweet too.

As the PP said, I think Amelia is a bit too overdone considering your other girls' names.
MelZa
I also am interested in names that start with a vowel original.gif

Theres a couple of those suggestions that i like, but have suggested them to dh in the past and he has rejected them!
Craftilicious
I think Soraya fits really well with your other children and its not a common name.
Gudrun
I think both Willow and Soraya fit. Apart from Amelia being very common I don't think the style of it fits with your others.

I wouldn't be thinking about the 'ia' bit. I would just choose a name you both like and that sounds good with the others. Could be an 'ia', and could be not.

Some ideas:

Fern
Fleur
Clover
Sorrell
Sarita
Alita/Aleta
Allira
Serenity
Jyoti
Neisha
Nuria
Nilusha
Celestia
Camelia

OP I love your daughter's names.
How do you pronounce Rhania?
Is it like in Rain-ia or to rhyme with Narnia?
loriblue
Amira
Camille

Both have the 'am' sound from Amelia, no ia at end and are uncommon names.
avonlea
I do think Amelia fits with your other names. It can also be shortened to 'Milly' which avoids the "ia".
AaliaK
My sister has a Soraya, gorgeous name she is Soraya Reece and an older sister Radha Grace...

I love Amani at the moment, we are having a boy but had Amani and Mina on our lists.....
MelZa
Thanks for the suggestions original.gif

I love Allira, Im trying to twist dh's arm, he suggested Ally and I said I'd love it as a nickname, but not sure about 1st, if I can make him see reason we'd have a beautiful name and compromise original.gif

And Rhania is pronounced to rhyme with Narnia, and we call her Rhani alot too. She has even started to call herself Rhani sometimes.

I think I really like A names... I borrowed a name book today and wrote down a bunch, but the only ones that I still like off the list I wrote are

Addison
Allira
Amelia
Amelie

Not sure but thinking about
Ciana/Ciara (but how would you pronounce?)
Mila (pron Miller)

I also love Amiel but we know some people who have used this, and with how uncommon it is, its too obvious that we would have pinched their name LOL (because its the only place Ive heard it and we do see them too often to get away with it lol)

Now Im relaxed and have pen and paper in hand I'll go slowly through the suggestions again and write a few down and report back with the ones i like original.gif

Mila is great! I know a little girl with that name and I always think what an original but beautiful name it is.
MelZa
Just to update with some names that I like from the suggestions original.gif

There were heaps more that I liked but cant use for various reasons!

But this is what I just wrote down

Alessia
Clara (pron Cl-ah-ra or Clair-a or Claa-ra??)
Eloise
Maya (Although she will be born in May, and we have May/Mae on our middle name list)
Sarita (LOVE)
Neisha (But dh doesnt like Misha and Neisha rhymes with my mums name to not too sure)

That should give you an idea of my taste original.gif
rnflorenzo
How about Amara?

I know a little girl called Amara and I think it's such a beautiful name. She can be mara for short
MelZa
For some reason the names with an 'arh' sound (besides dd1 because its quite different) dont grab me, not really sure why.

Names like Amali, Aaliya etc etc I dont mind them they are just NMS.

I like names to be colourful sounding.. If that makes sense... Hence names like Tia, Sarita, Alessia maybe its the 'ee' sound in names i like...
~THE~MAGICIAN~
I love Amelia but I think it's too close to your other kids first names and middle names.

peebs
As much as I love the name Amelia, it really just doesn't go with your other names. Waaaay too common by comparison. I think Soraya goes nicely and actually Amelie fits quite nicely too. Allira is okay. My pick would be Amelie.

Elijah is fantastic for a boy.
MelZa
Ive shown dh my list and the only one that stands out for him is Mila. But he will make his own list when he has time to sit and go through the book.
Eljose
How about Serica? It's Greek meaning silky.
MelZa
I dont mind that, but cant see dh liking it if he has already rejected Soraya and Sarita sad.gif

I have added a few more to my list, but havent shown it to dh yet.

Gianna/Giovanna (dh probably wont like)
Gisella
Iliana
Kelsey
Keira
Nikita
Sienna

I know Ive just contradicted what ive said a few posts earlier about the 'arh' sounds, some I dont mind some it seems I do Tounge1.gif From that list I think the only ones I can see dh liking are Nikita and Sienna (Nikita has always been on our lists). Sienna is probably considered as common, but I have only ever met 1, and she is my oldest dd's age.
soelluet
I like Amelia better than Willow
MelZa
Well what a waste, I did that second list, and dh got halfway through the book and he still doesnt like anything other than Mila or Willow, he has even gone off Amelia.
lovin it
Soraya Willow = Beautiful
MelZa
I got hold of another 4 books and have not found ANYTHING that dh likes, and there just isnt any name that I love apart from Willow. I think maybe Im worried too much about what other people think of it and thats whats made us reconsider...

Most (but not all some have given me a blank stare LOL) people IRL have told me that they think Willow is absolutely beautiful. To which I agree. But so many people have a dog or cat called Willow.

Dont be surprised if I come back and announce that we have named our baby Willow. Maybe going through all this at the end was needed to reassure me that we are choosing the right name.... For us wink.gif
