I was wearing my favourite jeans a few days ago, I bent over while holding my nephew and the button on my jeans popped off. sad.gif I tried to fix it myself with a hammer but it won't stay. I then took it to an Alterations place but the guy said no he couldn't fix it.

Has anyone else had the same problem and can you make suggestions as to how I can get it fixed? They're my favourite jeans so I don't want to cut my losses and throw them out just yet.

This happened to me a few years ago and despite my efforts I couldn't find any way to fix it or get it fixed sad.gif

They were my favourite pair of jeans, too.

could you post a pic? You can buy this type of button from haberdasheries and you kind of bang them on with a hammer. Not sure why the alterations guy said no though. Maybe the fabric won't hold it?

If they can't fix them get a silver button and sew it on. Make sure you get one with a shank (ie the bit that sticks out the bottom not the four or two hole kind).

The button popped off my DD pair of jeans, so I replaced the button with a standard button (one that looks like its sitting on top of a little pole for lack of a better description) and just created a button hole. Works fine.

You can buy the jeans buttons in most sewing stores very cheaply. You need a block (or solid work surface) and a mallet to put it on. If the fabric is torn you may have to move over a little bit, so this won't work if the jeans were already tight.
