Hi everyone.

Still not pregnant, still chilling in baby names. Evict me if it gets too annoying. I promise not to cry too much. original.gif

DH loves the name Liam. Has apparently been wanting a son named Liam for like a decade or so, well before he met me. I don't mind it but I didn't pick it out, if that makes sense. However, I want the perfect MN for it.

DH loves Gaelic names. I do too, but there's already going to be Liam on the front and a three-syllable Irish name on the back.

Ideas for middle names:

Liam Herschel/Hershel - Weigh in on the spelling! Weigh in on whether you think he'd get beat up.

I think I like these spellings more than variants I've seen (like Hertzl/Hershele/Hirshel) but if you have another let me know that too.

DH thinks its too foreign sounding, but I thought for a middle name it could be okay?

Liam Isaac - DH's favourite non-Gaelic middle name.

Liam Hamish - my favourite Gaelic (Scottish?) middle name.

Liam Tzvi/Zvi - My husband likes this more than Herschel "...but less than most other names." Also a friend said it would be horrible and abusive somehow.

Liam Elchanan - I genuinely like this but DH despises it.

Liam Hezekiah - this is after my DH was bugging me about Elchanan being weird and I said, oh it is, is it? But I actually like this name, and Elchanan as well. ninja.gif

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I understand the difficulty of blending ethnicities in names!

Of those combinations I like Liam Isaac best. I don't think any of them would get him given a terrible time - people are more used to a greater diversity of names.

I wondered what you would think of Liam Joel?

I love both Liam Isaac and Liam Hamish and although I haven't seen most of them before, I'm not really a fan of the others as they're a bit too different for me. Herschel is probably the best of the others but I have not idea if I'm saying it right.

Some suggestions:
Liam Patrick
Liam Oscar
Liam Emilio
Liam Julius
Liam Raphael
Liam Antonio
Liam Dominic
Liam Theodore
Liam Francis
Liam Seamus
Liam Sebastian
Liam Rafferty
Liam Everett
Liam Vincent
Liam Xavier
Liam Hendrik
Liam Tobias
Liam Michael
Liam Alistair
Liam Alejandro
Liam Alessandro
Liam August
Liam Ezekiel
Liam Nathaniel
Liam Eric/Erik
Liam Brady
Liam Connor
Liam Andrew
Liam Christopher
Liam Finlay
Liam Atticus
Liam Marcus
Liam Marcel

I definitely won't hate on anyone for saying some of mine are kind of weird. They're not made up but they're highly unusual.

Herschel is pronounced HER-sh'l, pretty much.

I like Liam Joel and Liam Ezekiel.

I like a lot of what I guess most people think of as "Old Testament" names. Nathaniel is good too. I might be able to sell DH on Nathaniel or Joel. They're not quite so eyebrow-raising.

My sister wants Ezekiel and Tobias for her eventual kids, and I have another friend Tobias so I suspect I should leave those alone. Sigh.

Liam Herschel is my pick.

I like Liam Isaac the best.

Could you persuade your DH to put Liam as a middle name. Hamish is too good to be a second name. Liam is alright but it is everywhere.

My son Liam's middle name is Patrick. It was supposed to be Craig but after he was born out of the blue we both thought Liam Patrick.

I also like the name Hamish.

I love Liam Joel (one of our names)

Liam Isaac is probably the one I like from your list the most.

My DP wants to name our future son 'Herschell'. I absolutely despise it, and think a child would get picked on for it.

lol I actually asked about this. He said he doesn't mind Hamish for a FN... if its the second son and the first is named Liam. Gragh!

I have a Liam Joseph but might be a bit too Irish sounding for you!!

Of the names you've listed I like Liam Isaac best.

Here are a few other suggestions that might work:

Liam Max

Liam Henry

Liam Alexander

Liam Tobias

Liam Daniel

Liam Jacob

Liam Noah

Liam Samuel

Also if you really like Hamish I'd save it for a first name in case you want to use in the future.

Liam Isaac is my favourite.

I like classical names, so love Liam.

I would pair it up with another classical names as they have to go together imo.

Liam Benjamin
Liam Nicholas
Liam Oliver
Liam Patrick
Liam Alexander
Nanns
I don't mind Herschel. The truth is you rarely ever use your middle name.

My DH is now trying to bluff me that Heath is a Biblical name.

"What, you don't remember Heath? Did bloody good miracles, Heath did..."

Thoughts: You ought to get dibs picking the middle name.

Herschel is way cool... fabulous nod to your American heritage & Heisman winner/NFL star/Olympian Herschel Walker.

Given that Liam is so mainstream, funking it up in the middle name spot is the perfect balance (my nephew is Liam Cassias).

Yes, we named our Heath after THAT star of the Bible. The one who was able to turn mass amounts of toxic poop into gold... wink.gif

Liam Herschel is my pick.

Mine too, it's great. That's the only way I've seen Herschel spelled before. I agree with BMJ that Liam kind of needs an interesting middle name.
