DH & I would like to start TTC our 3rd child. I am still breastfeeding DS2 3 times a day. I haven't had a period yet. In the past, I have used basal body temperature to track my ovulation, and have had a textbook temperature pattern. The only thing I've always had has been a short luteal phase (between 5 and 11 days, depending on how much I was breastfeeding).
I started charting my BBT 3 weeks ago, and as expected had low temperatures. Suddenly 16 days ago, the temperature went up & other fertility signs were consistent with ovulation. I have continued to have high temperatures but negative pregnancy test (last tested around day 14 post ?ovulation). I never have high temperatures for that long; even when I was pregnant, the temperatures would fall just before implantation time, then rise once more.
I would have assumed breastfeeding would reduce my progesterone levels so I would have a pathetic luteal phase and low temperatures. So why has my bbt been up for over 2 weeks now if pregnancy test negative? - used a sensitive PT. I haven't been sick so that shouldn't explain it.

Anyone have any thoughts?
