Lucifer?
How would you pronounce it? Loose-ian or Looshan?
I love it, my mum hates it (not that that really matters to me) but her reasons have been confirmed by others who have seen the name so I'm wondering if it would be a constant issue.
Thanks

Loose-ian
I LOVE this name. Like Gabriel I unfortunately could not get DH over the line. It was a personal contender if DD happened to be DS#3.
No Lucifer connection for me. To me it would be just as crazy to suggest that Lucia was 'Lucifer'

I would pronounce it Loo-shan.
Love it! I prefer Lucius though.

Gorgeous with a capital G. Love Lucian. With the loose pn only. And also spelt Lucien. Totally adore.

I prefer (and really like) Lucius. It reminds me of Gladiator

I'd pronounce Loo-shun and Loo-shus, unless I was told otherwise (though both ways you mentioned would be equally as acceptable to me)

I'd spell it Lucien.
I'd pronounce it Looshen, because I'm lazy, until corrected, then I'd say Loo-see-en, because that's nicer

I love it too - either pronunciation, but my preference is Loo-shan.

So you don't think of lucifer? Or that it's the devils name as my mum tries to tell me
Loose-ian.
I like it

Love, love, love it. I'd pronounce it Loose-ian, and no, no lucifer connection for me

I prefer Looshan but I think it's because I'm trying to move away from any lucifer connection. But it wouldn't really bother me if it was pronounced either way.

Ah, OP, real people and especially mothers are nothing but trouble when it comes to naming. I think plenty on here will testify to that.

It's not overly popular either (at least around here

). Great choice!

I admit that I did when I saw the name in recent topics...
I like the pronunciation of the name, sounds nice.

Gudrun - my MIL screwed her nose up at DD's name before she was born (yes, we discussed it, as we didn't care what anybody thought [except my faithful EB baby-namers of course]). Her reaction may have encouraged me to use it even more

I like her, we're just very different so anything she didn't like I knew I loved for a reason LOL

Lucian = loose ian.
The last thing I'd think of would be Lucifer

I'd assume you were into werewolves though

Loose-ian.
I wouldn't use it myself, but I have never thought to associate it with Lucifer.
I had a friend from Romania called Lucian.

Great name, I do prefer it spelled Lucien though. Don't think of Lucifer at all.
I tend to pronounce it 'loo-see-en' rather than 'looshan'.

I like, slightly prefer Lucien to Lucian though. I say Lucien as Loo-see-en and Lucian as Loo-shan, but I don't know if that's right

I love it, and desperately wanted to name our DS Lucian, but my partner was concerned about the similarity to 'Lucifer' (which a few other people mentioned too), and was also convinced that it was ripe for teasing and would be shortened to 'Lucy', which I think is ridiculous.
In the end, we went with Luca, but I would still consider Lucian as a middle name if we have another son.
I think, strictly speaking that Lucian is pronounced Loo-shan, and Lucien is pronounced Loo-see-en, but I prefer the Lucian spelling (although both are lovely) and the Loo-see-en pronunciation.

My youngest is Lucius.
But i also LOVE Lucian!
My MIL also screwed her nose up at Lucius' name saying that it would be shortened to Lucy. It hasn't been. But we do call him Lui (Lewie)
Its such a strong name.

This was the name of a character on Saturday Night Live years ago, but it was Lucien - with an 'e'. It was a comedy sketch with another character called Fagen. It was a bit camp.
