I know... I know ohmy.gif ohmy.gif Tobias and Indigo are nearly 11 months... so I thought I better start organizing their 1st birthday sad.gif

So sad my last babies are growing up so fast. I am really enjoying this experience! Being a mum to twins.. is such a great journey.. that not everyone get's to experience. biggrin.gif

Their birthday is on the 27th of May.. which is a friday.. so their party will probably be on the sunday the 29th. I can't remember what the weather was like last year =/

I need idea's on what to do... ie it's my first ever multiples birthday... what's the "normal" thing to do lol.

What type of theme.. or cake etc would you do for a boy/girl twin?

any pictures would be awesome awell.

Thanks ladies.

I had it a little easier as I have twin girls and we had a cupcake party. Each of my girls had a large cupcake shaped cake each (one mudcake and the other vanilla sponge) to blow the candles out on. I got my inspiration from here http://www.1stwishes.com/ which is just for 1st birthday themes. They do have a twins 1st birthday theme as well.

For the kids we just blew up stacks of balloons and them all over the floor for them to chase around as well as helium balloons with strings attached for them to pull on and let go etc (obviously supervised) along with just the normal toys that is all they needed.

They are almost 1?!!!!!
Can't believe it!

I would do a neurtral theme. Farm animals or monkeys/jungle, circus, teddy bear picnic which you could host inside.

Even tho I have 2 boys we did a barnyard theme for their first birthday. As far as cake goes I make one cake and a cupcake each which is were I put the candles.

Once you've picked a theme, message me if you need help with ideas original.gif

Depends how many people are coming etc.. we had about 30 ppl for their 1st so I did 2 cakes in the shape of "1" decorated in pink and in blue. I used marshmallow fondant to cover the cake and make shapes.

For their 2nd b'day just past, we had a wiggles theme. Just family with about 10 kids. Lots of party games, wiggles coloured helium balloons to decorate and the wiggles plates, napkins etc I was a bit busy this year and just bought a cake from cheesecake shop with Wiggles on it. Dh bought KFC..kids fav is nuggets and chips anyway.

I decorated two heart shaped cakes on a cake plate together (with both pink and blue decorations (eg. flowers etc..on it) on it and found some lovely lettering to stick onto the plate with their names on it so I can use this over and over again.

To me their first birthday was not only to celebrate their first year of life, but was a thankyou for those close to us for sharing it with us and to acknowledge all their help so we did'nt go overboard with anything, just put on a nice morning tea on (with a kids theme plus grown up food as well) for everyone at a nice park.

I can't help you with twin ideas as I don't have twins.
DD2's birthday is the 26th of May. For her birthday last year she was wearing a sundress and the weather was quite warm, but I am in Qld.

we just did a bbq at my parents house and invited all the family party pics with cake the party pics are in there along with pics of the cake, we had the cheesecake shop make it, pretty much just told them we wanted a number 1 coloured with pink and blue and that's what they came up with, I think it turned out really well (would have liked a bit more blue on it though).

We have always had seperate cakes for our twins but they are boy/boy.

My boys just turned 1 at the end of March. We just had close family, and I did a 'balloon' theme - similar to PP, just blew up lots of balloons, and I did a balloon 'cake', which comprised about 20 cupcakes with bits of ribbon to look like a bunch of balloons. So technically they didn't have separate cakes, but they each had their name spelled out over a number of cupcakes.
I didn't want too much for their first birthday, and they had a ball in the backyard with their cousins, so it was a great day for all of us.
