OK I have some questions if you don't mind.

Did you feel one baby move more than the other?
I seem to only really feel one baby all the time. Is this normal.

What position were your babies in at U/S's? Did their positions alter a lot between U/S's?
Both of mine are in the same position (laying across ways looking up) and are on top of one another. Anyone else's in this position.

What was your weight gain/ weight loss like?

I asked about this exact thing a few weeks ago, here's the link...

Since then I definitely feel much more movement on the right where B1 is and much less from the other side from what I assume is B2. I haven't had a scan since 19 weeks, but at my 24 week appointment the Ob used a doppler and both heartbeats were perfectly fine.

Mine have moved all over the place. Initially at our 12 wk scan they were on top of each other but since then they've been next to each other. At our 19 wk scan B2 did a complete turn from head down to head up just during the duration of the scan. At my 24 wk appt they were still side by side according to the Ob.

What was your weight gain/ weight loss like?
To date I have put on ..... 14 kgs blush.gif - I find this AMAZING considering I'm still vomiting every morning (after breakfast) but to help aleviate the nausea I experience till at least 1/2pm I eat and eat and EAT!

It's been a while, but I'll try to help.

Did you feel one baby move more than the other?

I did feel one baby move more than the other. Although early on, they move so much that I wouldn't know if they had completely swapped places.

What position were your babies in at U/S's? Did their positions alter a lot between U/S's?
Both of mine are in the same position (laying across ways looking up) and are on top of one another. Anyone else's in this position.

Every time I had an U/S my babies had moved positions! I had scans fairly often, & each time they were in a different position. B/c I was having 2 girls, often the radiographer would lose track of WHICH baby he/ she was looking at! They would swap positions that much. Only days before I had my girls (at 30 weeks) they totally moved! They went from being head down, to both being breach!

Hope that helps

Hi Cat,
I can't believe you are over half way. Congratulations!! Everyone else's pg seems to go so much faster than mine did. lol. Are you finishing work at the end of the term, or are you planning to stay at it a little longer.

In answer to your questions, my girls seemed to stay in pretty much the same position - Hannah on the left and Emma on the right, a bit higher up than Hannah. It seemed that Hannah NEVER stopped moving and it drove me crazy. Emma didn't move that much, but when she moved she really moved! It's funny, because that reflects their personalities so well now. Hannah always had a much higher heartrate than Emma too.
I can't remember exactly how much weight I gained, but it was around 20kg all up, despite being quite sick for the first 4 months.

Best wishes,
Jo

Hi Catnat,

I believe I am at the same term as you are with twins -21 weeks.

I feel one more than the other. My twins are in the same postion as yours. One on top of the other. The lower one (twin 1 - the girl) is the dancer, she jiggs away day & night. Twin 2, the boy, is sleeping most of the time it would appear. Funny enough I think twin 1, the mover & shaker is the smaller one.

I have so far gained approx 8-10kg . I used to be 58kg and am now close to 70kgs, depending on what time of day I weigh my self and how much I have eaten!.

I still feel relatively small for size, although I really notice the change from my once flat tummy to a now basket ball shape. My belly seems to have grown from under my breasts.

Hi Cat, My babies were at the ultrasound twin 2 on twin 1 the little boy (twin 1) really hasn't changed his position at all, but the little girl she has there are times she is on top of the boy and other times in a normal position up and down if that make sense. I know when the girl is laying on top of the boy i tend to only feel movements in the lower part of my tummy close to where my c/s cut scare is. But if she moves to the up down position i feel them quite high and low meaning it would have to be both of them. I understand it would be hard for you not knowing who is moving. I find feeling them makes me feel they are ok. i actually start to worry if i don't feel movement up high but then realise she had most likely moved again and when i think about it the movements low are more. I haven't really found so far that i'm getting anymore movements than i did with my single pregnancies. I find that they are just lower and a bit more uncomfortable. As for weight gain i know i have gained weight but i wouldn't know how much. I don't weigh myself as i feel it's not necessary. I hope this helps and i made sense take care

Did you feel one baby move more than the other?
Just this week they've really started flailing around! But I very rarely feel TwinB (on the right). Maybe once a day if I'm lucky I'll get a little nudge and that's it. TwinA however is clearly going to be either a tennis player or a breakdancer.

What position were your babies in at U/S's? Did their positions alter a lot between U/S's?
At our 7 and 12wk US's they were both in the same bunkbed position as yours. Since then they've been side by side (one on left, one on right), breech (and I've had several scans since 12wks, they seem to like being upright!). Oh, and in the scans both babies are always very active, so I'm not sure why I can't feel TwinB.

What was your weight gain/ weight loss like?
Urgh... I was 60kg before, now at 21wks I'm 72kg! I found I put on 10kg really quickly by ~wk18, now the gains seem to have slowed down. But my tummy seems absolutely ginormous! It looks like I've swallowed a beachball. Or two.

Gee, time flies Cat, I can't believe you are 20 weeks already (probably seems slow to you though!). Here's my experience...

I seem to feel Twin 1 more than Twin 2, but early on they were all over the place so it could have been either of them really. Later in the pregnancy Twin 2 was facing inwards and transverse so it was harder to feel movements on the 'outside', she would just headbutt my liver to let me know she's was there! They both also got the hiccups a lot and thats when I could really tell who was doing what.

As I said early on they were all over the place, mostly side by side. Often on ultrasounds they were playing with each others hands (or so it seemded). My OB reckons they were playing cards. Later on, Twin 1 was head down, Twin 2 transverse and high up and they stayed that way for weeks.

I put on a total of 17kgs to 35 weeks when they were born. I looked MUCH bigger though. I lost 4kgs in the first trimester then started packing it on. Lost it pretty quickly afterwards, and another 10kgs to boot. Not bragging or anything because it wasn't deliberate, I really think pregnancy changed my metabolism.

Over halfway now! Keep smiling original.gif

Hi Cat

Wow I can't believe you're 20 weeks already, I remember when you first posted original.gif

Did you feel one baby move more than the other?
Yes - Jessica (on the right) was VERY active and Isabel was very quiet. I often wondered if Isabel was ok because I hardly ever felt her move. It seems this is very similar to their personalities now, Jessica is into everything and Isabel loves to sit quietly and watch!

What position were your babies in at U/S's? Did their positions alter a lot between U/S's?
They were basically left & right (Jessica head down, Isabel breech) the whole time. Isabel moved to head down at about 35 weeks. Apart from that, not much movement otherwise.

What was your weight gain/ weight loss like?
Weight GAIN...hmmmm...I had gained 10kgs by the end of my first trimester and that was the start, I think I took the 'eating for 3' mantra a little too seriously! The babies were always a little underweight at u/sounds, so I figured I'd beef them (and myself!) up with more protein. I stopped weighing myself at about 30 weeks when I had gained 25kg!! I think I would have put on over 30kgs, but I had ~only~ 18kgs to lose when I got home from the hospital cool.gifo:. I still have about 6kgs to go and I haven't really been gung-ho about losing it (being winter, etc!) and I am not b/f.

Good luck with everything, hope that helps to ease your mind a little.

I am so glad you posted these questions Cat as I was starting to get concerned with the fact that one of my twins is moving a lot more than the other :)My twins have been in the same bunkbed position since we found out about them at 7wks. They dont seem to be in any rush to change their location.

As for weight gain (I am 27wks) I have put on about 12 kg so far although it does seem to be all baby and not much on the butt (Thank God!!). I think that is mostly due to the fact that I am still working FT and on my feet all day.

Thanks everyone. Always great to know about everyone else's experiences.

I had a funny story the other night actually. I had this TERRIBLE pain that wouldn't go away at the bottom of my ribs. I couldn't get comfortable etc. I ended up ringing the doctor who squeezed me in the next day. I was really worried. About 30 minutes later I got this almighty kick near the pain, some movement and the baby must have move as I was no loonger in pain! I have named them Rib Baby and Bladder Baby.........

ATM I am actually 7 kilos less than when I got pregnant (think that is what happens when you spend a lot of time driving the porcelain bus) but have actually put on a little bit in the past week or two. It will be interesting to see what happens from here with it.
