As a boys name in general?
With an Italian surname - ie too much for Oz? (if you say 'Leonardo Foccacia' - that should give you the gist)
Leo - is it an old man's nickname ??? I keep picturing leathery old men in caps sitting on milk crates playing cards
Better/same/worse than Theodore or Alasdair?
With Jemima as a big sister? Styles too different?? (and yes, it matters to me)
Goes better/same/worse with Jemima than Theodore or Alasdair?
(Lord help me, I have 3 weeks to go - ahhhhhhhhhhhhh)

Not really fussed on Leonardo and doesn't really go with Jemima. I much prefer Alasdair, that would be perfect.

Leonardo nn leo - love. Also love lenny (I really want Leo but friends got in first a couple of months ago!)
Theodore nn Theo - like
Alasdair - no
All go with your DD's name imo
Good luck

I like it, and like Leo as a nickname too, but I don't think it goes as well with Jemima as Theodore or Alasdair.

It's ok but I think it's too over the top with Jemima. I much prefer Leon or Leonard to Leonardo and I think they're fine with Jemima.
Theodore is definitely my pick from your names but I love Alistair too if you spell it this way. Either of those is great with Jemima.

Love Leonardo, nn Leo, especially with an Italian surname.
It's on my shortlist if I can convince DH to try for number three

I like Theodore best from your names
I do like Leonardo, but I just don't think it goes great with Jemima.

I would go with Theodore. I think it goes much better with your DD.

I much prefer Theodore with Jemima. I love those two names together. I think Leonardo is way too fussy teamed with an Italian surname.
(Unless in Italy, der.)

I really like the nickname Leo, but I think Alasdair is perfect with Jemima.

I grew up in an Italian neighbourhood in the US and Leonardo Foccacia (to use your amazing example) will ALWAYS be more familiar and easier to say than, say, Lachlan Monoghan (they threw that g in there to mess me up).
I like it. I also like Leon. I don't much like Leo.
And I don't know what the Jiminy Christmas to make of Alasdair. Sorry. I'm not trying to be mean, I've never heard it and am not sure how to say it and I don't think its got more flow with Jemima than Leonardo/Leon would. Is it like Alastair?
I don't like Theodore personally, but there's nothing wrong with it.

la-di dah - Alasdair is the Gaelic form of Alexander; Alistair/Alastair are anglicised versions of Alasdair. Pron. more like Alas-dare.
OK, I can feel I need to steel myself for battle once again.....

You can tell my Gaelic is crappy! I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to be really rude. I just really had never heard it.
(My DH constantly campaigns for Gaelic names, he loves Liam and Eoin for boys, I shot down Siobhan but Saoirse is still running...)
Jemima seems much more popular in Australia than in the US. Its pretty.

Redsgirl, I see the dilemma. All good. I actually really love both Leo and Theo as stand-alones. Theo with Jemima. Also like Leonard NN Lenny which also goes with Jemima.
But I'm really liking Alasdair. Shows a bit of individuality in baby naming and is great with Jemima.
And with the possibilty of Dair/Dare as NN... pretty good!

Theodore is the best. I am still working on DH. I leave little post it notes around the house with three or four boys' names on them and Theodore is always one of them

I like Leonard over Leonardo. Not sure why.
Alasdair is also awesome. Dair is a MAD nickname.

I have a brand new nephew named Leo. I love the name. A great nn for Leonardo!

FWIW, I knew a Leonardo, but he was known by his friends as Len/Lenny which I like too. If you are Italian, I don't see anything wrong with Leonardo. Just not sure how well it goes with Jemima.
Theodore makes me think of an older man.
I'm not a fan of Alasdair as such, but it does go well with Jemima, IMO.
Good luck!!

I prefer simply Leon or Leonard with the nn Leo, Leonardo seems a bit over the top for the average Aussie audience

Leonardo is fabulous. Leo is lovely with Jemima.
Theodore is even better with Jemima, but I feel it is about to spike in popularity.
I have always found Alasdair/Alastair to be a very harsh sounding name for a child or adult. It is one of those names I can't warm to. I don't much like Al as a nickname either - Leo, Theo or Teddy are far nicer.

You won't need to look further than my user name to guess my thoughts on the topic!
That said, we decided after much consideration to call DS1 "Leo Foccacia" (to use your example!!) rather than "Leonardo Foccacia". My husband has an Italian surname too and we felt that Leonardo was a bit 'too much' and we'd use Leo as a nn all the time anyway. Leo is a stand-alone name in its own right, of course.
I reckon Leo goes beautifully with Jemima!
I do love Theodore as well.
Good luck!

I love it. Leo is one of my favourite boys names at the moment.
