Just wondering if anyone else lost heaps of weight during their pregnancy? i am now 30 weeks and so far i have lost 11 kilos and only put 2 back on. The doc's aren't concerned at all as at my last scan (28wks)both babies measured and weighed their proper weight for 28 wk babies, so i was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as i am told by now i am supposed to have put on about 10-12 kgs!!??

As long as your bubs are a good size and your dr is happy then I wouldn't worry - I guess your body is just concentrating on them and not worrying much about you at the moment!

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone losing that much weight before, certainly not after the first trimester, but then I'm no expert. I lost ~ 4kgs in my first trimester, then got that back plus another 17kg, only to lose all of that again plus another 10kg in the 12 months after their birth. B/f and running around after twins is a great weight loss program wink.gif

Hi Danielle

I still say that having twins was the best diet I have ever been on. I lost over 10 kilos and was only all baby. I was back into my normal clothes actually I went down a size, while I was still in hospital. My twins are now 14 months old and I am the smallest I have been in 7 years and love the comments I get about not believeing i have had 4 kids. My babies were great weights so the doctor never really worried about my weight loss.
Oh and BTW breastfeeding twins (still am) means I eat what I like and still keep the weight off. Good Luck

hi I lost 6 kilos at the beginning(LOTS of throwing up) ended up putting on around 15 kilos. girls were good weights. Whilst BF for 12 months stayed about 6 kilos under pre-pregnancy weight and even now 2 years later am still a dress size smaller and a few kilos lighter.....

Now if only I could get rid of the stretched tummy and the saggy boobs......

Hi I lost about 6KG's in the first few weeks. I never lost as much as you. The Dr's kept telling me that as long at bub's are growing, not to worry. Sounds like your babies are doing well.

As long as your doctors aren't concerned about you or the babies, things are probably okay. It is quite unusual by the sound of it - I guess it would be more of a problem if you were underweight before your pregnancy but you haven't said if that's the case. Are you eating enough? It can be hard to eat once you get bigger and your stomach gets pushed up into your chest (that's what it feels like!). But it is important for your babies that you eat enough (especially protein). I drank smoothies (homemade for safety) made with protein powder (check it's safe for pregnancy) towards the end of my pregnancy as they weren't as daunting as a plateful of food.

Hi again, i was a bit overweight when i fell pregnant so i guess it has just got rid of my excess!! I put weight on after the birth of my first daughter but now even 30 wks with twins (my fundal height is 42cm!) I am wearing my clothes from b4 i was pregnant with her. I am still wearing my normal jeans as my maternity jeans flog me and i still need a belt to hold them up to.
I have eaten pretty well the whole way through it is just now i am finding i am eating more (probably cause i just finished work to) but i still haven't put any more weight on.

All my blood tests and that are perfect and like i said the dr's haven't said anything so i guess its just a bonus for me!! I was just curious if anyone else had experienced this

Have a good day!!

I was back into regular gear almost as soon as my girls were born, the only "weight" I gained was the babies and surrounding fluids etc. I could've done with a bit of extra padding, always been on the scrawny side!!! I have stayed about the same even with breastfeeding. Still have a flabby bit in the middle (for me anyway) everyone else just looks at me like... "You never carried twins!!!!" Again the dr was only concerned with the growth of the babies not my weight. I actually think I only got weighed once. I'm sure he would check you out thouroughly if at all concerned. Your body has to work extra hard to support two extras so you tend to burn up the fuel very quickly. All sounds fine!

I am almost 18 weeks pregnant with twins. The weight loss factor stressed me out too.

I lost 10 kilos before 12 weeks (but I do have quite a bit in reserve!) I have now put a couple back on but I am not showing anywhere near as much as I thought I would be by now. Before getting pregnant I was almost a size 18 in everything. Now I am wearing my size 16 pants comfortably and I'm pregnant! Never thought I could say that!!!!!!!!!!

I have my U/S next Friday and I am really, really scared that something is wrong. My doctor wasn't concerned at my last appointment though so I suppose that is good.

Good luck with it!

Hi,
I didn't lose weight when I was pg with the boys (now 8months old) but didn't put on much either and constantly had people telling me I wasn't very big for twins! It was quite disheartening at times.

I do think having twins is a great weight loss diet though. I am still breastfeeding mine, and like someone else said can eat what I like and not put on weight. Plus I have to carry around 2 bubs all the time and walk with a hefty twin stroller so the exercise is great. And even if you don't lose any weight, twin strollers make any mum look little!!

Best of luck with the rest of the pregnancy, birth and your precious little bundles!
