Hi there,
I'm curious as to whether ALL multiple pregnancies cause severe morning sickness?
Since a midwife told me I'm "large for dates" I have been curious. I won't have an u/s until 19 wks. I've been so curious also, as my great-grandmother on mum's side had twins, and I'm 35. I have had nausea (still at 17wks), but I wouldn't say it's really bad. I know that the odds are I'm carrying one baby!

Unfortunately I'm not one of them, but not all women with a multiple pregnancy have severe m/s. I have had hyperemesis (very severe m/s) but from spending time on this forum I seem to have been one of the few who has had very severe m/s - most seem to get m/s but not necessarily severe.

I was one of the lucky ones!

My morning sickness wasn't that bad - the worst day I had was actually the day I found out I was pregnant. After that, I felt nauseous most of the time for about the first 12 weeks or so but never actually threw up. It wasn't as bad as most friends I know with singletons. Sorry, I know everyone who has it badly is cursing me right now! Don't worry, I made up for it with shocking reflux later in the preganancy...

Hi
I had no m/s with either my singleton prenancy, or my twin pregnancy. The only difference between the two in the 1st trimester was that I was bigger with the twin pregancy. The midwife commented on it but I thought nothing of it until I had the 19 week ultrasound and saw those two heads (are they knees???). I later found out my great great grandmother had twins! Interestingly, we think they were identical, and we think mine are also identical, and it seems they don't actually know the genetic link with identical twins. Somtimes families are riddled with them, and sometimes they pop out of nowhere.
All the best with your pregnancy!
Cheers

Hi and Welcome Caterpilla! Congrats on the pregnancy!!!!
I am also one of the lucky ones without an ounce of sickness ~ Sorry Lovie....
I dont know why & I have no singleton pregnancy to compare it to, just didnt have a vomit or anything at all.
There were certain foods I avoided but nothing that made me vomit either.

Thankyou all for replying!! I appreciate it, as I feel a bit like a gatecrasher.
I had also thought that I couldn't possibly have twins because I would have found out by now? Now I see that there are a few of you who found out at the 18-19 wk u/s.
Even though twins would be special, it would probably be better if I only had one baby in there, because I wouldn't have the support I'd need (mother & sister interstate, indifferent in-laws...) My partner is great, but I'd need more than that, with a two year old also!!
Anyway, I shouldn't be counting the chickens before they hatch!
