At my 19wk scan and at the quick scan the Ob did at 20 1/2 wks the babies were each laying head down on either side of my navel. I know they're capable of turning head up (B2 did just that during the 19 wk scan) but can they also turn transverse or both move more to one side?

The reason why I ask this is because I've been feeling the babies kicking pretty regularly (actually most of the day) and feeling definite kicks/movements (can feel them from the outside too) for just over a week (have been feeling squirming, slight movement since about 17 wks). First of all I felt both of them (well, I assume both of them as I was feeling them on both sides of my tummy). However, the last few days I've felt movement only on the right side where B1 usually lives. Very very occasionally (like literally only a few times the last couple of days) have I felt any movement at all on the left side where B2 usually lives).

I'm not sure whether I should be worried or not...??

I always felt as though one of my twins was kicking and moving more as well.

I guess too that there is numerous arms and legs in there so something is bound to be moving at every moment of the day hey? lol Imagine how squashy it is getting now?

One of mine ended up breach and the other transverse. I ended up having a c-section but not because of that but because they were too small.

You haven't got long now. how exciting! Do you know if they are boys, girls, boy and girl etc yet?
Butterscotch
Thanks Ava. I'm not so concerned about them moving a lot (well, at least B1 seems to be moving a lot), but more that I'm not sure B2 is moving much... if at all (which is my real concern). I've been awake half the night and have felt B1 belting me lots and still haven't felt B2. I think I will ring my Ob this morning as it means I haven't definitely felt B2 for 3 days. I just wasn't sure if perhaps B2 had moved somehow over near B1 and so I'm feeling both but only on one side. I just thought it seemed odd that I was able to feel movement over my entire tummy on both sides and now only feel them on one side.

We do know what sexes they are - but as I have some RL friends who stalk me on the boards sometimes I don't want to say on here! LOL (no one in RL knows)

When I was pregnant with my twins one of them always moved more than the other!!!!!

I was always worried about T1 but they were both fine at every scan

Now that they are born and here with us they are both the same Darcy is the little sleepy bear and Kane the busy moving one.

Even when they sleep Kane is always kicking the blankets off and moving around where as Darcy is always in the same place as when you put him to bed

Hope all is well and if you are worried get it checked out.

Hi Butterscotch.

I too felt one twin far more than the other. Twin A was always harder to find on the doppler and compared to his brother the movements were gentler and less often. I think it was just the position he was in as he was always very camera shy and harder to get measurements from too...........may I just add that twin A is Brodie who is now the biggest wriggler and makes himself known at all times!!!!!!

Wishing the best original.gif

Hi Heather!

It can be really hard to tell who is moving, I used to think that Twin 2 was quite the mover then be at a scan and find out what I thought was twin 2's foot was actually twin 1's elbow!
Also bear in mind that if the baby has turned around then he/she may be kicking inwards which won't be felt as easily as when they kick outwards.
The uterus growing and stretching can also affect how much you can feel, as it stretches they get more room and you can sometimes not feel them as easily as they aren't "hitting the sides" if that makes sense?
If you are worried and not feeling what you consider to be enough movement definitely get it checked out as peace of mind is a wonderful thing!

Btw..did you get the PM I sent you the other day?

Let us know how you get on with things,

Jo

Heather, I had alot of movement from twin 1 (DD) and not so much from twin 2 (DS) throughout the entire pregnancy. T1 was always on the move and kicking and T2 only kicked occasionally. I dint start to feel them kicking till about 20 weeks. Dont be too concerned T2 maybe sitting back further inside and you cant feel when it moves (T2 was on me, T1 was in front). As long as you do feel movement all is okay have a sweet drink and then sit down on the couch for a while and wait. If you are concerned just drop into local Hospital and they will put a doppler on. But, dont worry in a couple of weeks you will wish they would just sit still for a while. I used to get most movement at night so would have dinner and a sweet drink and sit on the couch and wait, I love this time just feeling them move. But, once again if you are concerned get it checked out even for your own piece of mind. OB wont mind at all.

Let us know how you go.

Hi there Butterscotch
Yep, I was exactly the same, B2 always moved around alot when I was preggie and now that they are just over two, the same thing. Oscar is the restless one when sleeping and you wouldn't hardly know that Mikaela has been sleeping in her bed. I hear Oscar quite often banging his head against the wall as he used to with the cot.
I'm sure everything is just fine.

Thanks everyone original.gif I KNEW you'd all save me from my neuroticism by making me realise that this is not uncommon!!

Jo, thanks for this:

Makes perfect sense and was something I hadn't thought of.

I haven't rung my Ob - I hate sounding like I'm being paranoid over every little thing. I know that *if* there was something wrong there's nothing that could be done at this stage anyway. My Ob is a good 45 min drive into the city from where I live and work so I'd have felt extra silly to drive all that way for an u/s to show B2 moving around like crazy. I'm particularly sick today (m/s sick) so that's always a good sign as much as I hate it!!

Thanks again original.gif - what would I do without you WONDERFUL multiples mums?? original.gif

Hi Butterscotch,

glad everyone helped you

I too was concerned I couln't feel one move Jack was transverse and he never seemed to stop(still doesn't) and tom was breech with his bum sitting comfy in my pelvis(his own armchair) The midwife also told me that he was more likely kicking tom but he was and still is alot less active.
Take care and if you are ever concerned don't hesitate to ring your Dr's and speak to the midwife.

Hi Butters!
Yep the same thing here both my babies were breech and most of the movements were from Brooklen (twin 2) Hayden was and still is very placid and quiet...Brooklen is the party animal, always moving, kicking around and swirming!

Hope all is well ~ Isnt it great that there are so many people that are here with the same thing!!

Cam never stopped moving (turned from head down to breech to 38w2days!) and Joel I always had to prod to get any sort of movement out of him........they were exactly the same for the first 3 years (Cam never stopping/Joel much more placid) Now theyre 3yrs old neither of them stop-ever-! HELP!

Good luck

Same here. T1 was always alot more active than T2, and that is still the case today. T1 has always been the more physical of the two, first to do everything! The gap is decreasing more and more though. Josie is slowly catching Hannah and what she has lacked in the physical dept she has made up for in the vocal!!!!`

I could have written your post, too. I'm 19w3d now, and the little guy on the right packs much more of a punch than his brother. My obs said not to worry about it- it's normal to only feel one, especially initially (when there's still a fair bit of leg room!) He said at my 18wk appointment not to worry if I felt nothing for a few days at a time- they are moving around a lot, and can easily be pointing all their kicky/punchy bits inwards. We're also much less likely to interpret their movements if they're aimed backwards.

The funniest thing is when one guy kicks, right over one side of my tummy, and a fraction of a second later the other one gets startled and gives me a whack over the other side!

(BTW, on our 18wk scan, we saw twin 1 aim a kick right at his brother's head! I hope he's not displaying early aggressive behaviour!)
