Hi everyone and thankyou so much for your lovely messages!! I am just loving my little men more and more everyday- despite the complete lack of sleep and struggles with breastfeeding! Getting there though...

Both Hayden and Jackson lost just over 10% of their body weight in the first few days, but subsequent to that they have been gaining :-)) They also had a little bit of jaundice, so we were needing to make sure of really regular feeding in the first few days. My milk took around 6 days to start 'coming in' properly and has only just really been established now at day 9! That made regular feeding pretty hard (impossible), so I had to give a few formula comp feeds and I also started a medication to increase my supply. Now that I have my milk I am expressing too so things are good there. However I now have the problem of incorrect attachment- therefore sore nipples!! They both want to suck as though they are sucking on bottle- and Jackson in particular really fights with me over it ;-(I wonder also if giving them a dummy at night interferes with their learning how to feed??...officially that is what ABA will say, but I know people who successfully feed and their babies have dummies at night so it is very confusing...) Night is a very unsettled time (therefore dummy use though they dont really love them)- mornings are great! They get up, feed and go back to sleep until lunch. The rest of the day either one or both will be very unsettled so I do nothing but feed and settle and bath LOL.

Wow- what a rave, sorry about that. This is such a mind blowing experience... my little men are finally here and making their presence known!!

:-) A slightly delirious Lindy

PS Had a great experience re: c-section. I was really worried about the spinal block- giving blood hurts more!

PPS Haylie- I might send a photo to you to post if that is OK?? I will eventually learn how to do it (when the boys are a bit older :-))

Great to hear from you, Lindy. Well done on posting only 9 days post-birth! I don't think I surfaced for weeks. I don't have any advice about the BF, sorry - it didn't work out for us and we happily bottlefed from 6 weeks. Be kind to yourself and make sure you sleep in the morning when the boys are having their settled time.

Take care

Maree
