Lower Sandy Bay. The best playground in Hobart IMO. It has shelters, BBQ facilities, playground only a year old, shops nearby if you need something or just want an icecream or cappuccino. Fully fenced and huge.

Tynwald Park, New Norfolk.
We've been there several times because it has a fantastic flat bike track, complete with traffic lights, give way signs and so on. The park also has several play areas, complete with equipment which seems to be suited for different ages.
Some friends and I got together on the weekend and had a BBQ at Hut 4, which was actually recommended to a friend as an ideal hut for a small child's birthday party. It's slightly away from the other huts and has quite a bit of lawn to play on. I think hiring of the hut and BBQ was around $18 and we had it for 5 hours.
Speak to the Derwent Valley Council about booking a hut there as to secure a hut and BBQ, you really need to book it in advance.
It's a little bit of travelling (we live in Sandy Bay so a bit of a drive for us), but it's well worth it. It's a real gem of a park and at this time of year, is just beautiful with all of the trees losing their leaves.

I went to a kids party at the taroona hall. It has the hall, a kitchen and a fenced playground joined to it.
Would be great in the event of rain. Otherwise I would go long beach park at sandy bay.

Dru Point at Margate. Sounds just like Tynwald Park! It has a bike track complete with working traffic lights and signs. Has a smaller kids playground that is fenced and accessable to all and a seperate teenagers section. Also has a tennis court, lots of BBQ huts, lots of grass and a kiosk. You need to book BBQ huts. Also has a lovely view of the water.
