Thinking of buying one of these but due to storage space don't want both.
If you had to choose, which would you buy. Two rockers or one automated baby swing?
thank you for your help

No_idea!
[color=Teal]We never had a swing, although I believe they're pretty good. But, we did have 2 rockers and I would have to say they were one of the best things we bought!

We used the rockers with our boys from day one (in fact, they were delivered the day we got home from hospital, which was perfect timing!). I would pop the boys in them on the floor if they were unsettled and I could sit on the lounge and rock them with my feet while I watched TV, talked on the phone, ate my lunch, had a cuppa!! I also (once I started bottle feeding) found the rockers to be invaluable as I would sit in between the boys on the floor (with my back up against the lounge) and feed them both at the same time while I watched TV or had a conversation with DH etc. They were also so comfy that the boys would often fall asleep in them.

We also used them when the boys started solids (we put the backs up on them) and we fed them in the rockers. Basically we used them a lot! ;p

Great thread,

I've been wondering exactly the same thing!
I have heard quite a bit of praise for rockers .....

So which ones are good?? There are so many big bulky ones (which due to space limitations I am trying to steer clear of too many bulky things) and the prices vary greatly too - what are people's favourites??

Cheers

hi we actually have two rockers and two of the fisher price aquarium bouncers. . the rockers that we have are the "swallow" brand, we got them from babyco. They are great because as vanessa said i also would sit in between them and feed them at the same time and talk to them. The aquarium bouncers are great too because the boys love to watch the fish swim and the sounds that it makes is great. I have the fisher price aquarium swing as well (we borrowed it off a friend) and it is great to put the boys in because they love it and it used to put them to sleep, but due to the cost i really do not think that i would buy one as they have not had that much of a use of it. They are only 5 months old now and they don't really like to stay in it for more than 5 minutes now.

forget to add our rockers were about $50 each i think and the aquarium bouncers were $75 each on sale i think. I would suggest probably getting 2 rockers and 1 aquarium as if you have space restrictions at least with one aquarium bouncer it will entertain one of them while you deal with the other.. it will intersting what others think on this topic!

Couldn't have survived with out my rockers with all 5 kids but especially the twins

Ours are just hand me downs from family and friends so can't tell you the brands they aren't the really new flash ones. As long as you can sit the back up so when they are starting solids they can sit up a bit I don't think it really matters. Wouldn't spend millions because they are out of them so quick probably about 8 - 9 months when they can sit in high chairs.

IMO I wouldn't worry about the swing especially not one I found with my boys if they aren't both doing the same thing they are not happy!!!!!!!
A friend gave me a Safety first Lady bug sit in thing (can't remember its proper name) but they weren't happy when one was in and one was on the floor so I bought a 2nd hand one off E bay and now it is great put them in there and at least they are where you left them

This is what I am talking about (since my desription was so bad) They no longer make this style I think the new ones are cars

I had two rockers and a fisher price aquarium swing and I would have to say the swing saved my life. If both the girls were crying I could put one in the swing and cuddle the other one. We went through a stage were the girls didn't want to sleep during the day so I would put one in the swing and off to sleep she'd go and then I would nurse the other one to sleep.

I used the rockers a bit but I don't think I used them as much as the swing.

Take care,
Mel

A BIG hands up for the rockers... we were given both rockers and a swing and barely used the swing. The girls were too little to use it for the first couple of months and cried after a few minutes in it. It took up HEAPS of space in the nursery the girls only liked it at around 18 months plus+ ( when i had lent it to friends and now sister). Would definately never bother with it again.

The rockers were great. The legs folded down for easy storage in the car and you become very adept at rocking them with your feet. I found them a godsend from 4-5.30 each arvo and whilst we were trying to gobble our dinner. They were valco brand from baby bunting around $100 each had a toy bar and canopy for the sun, really easy to wash. I sold them both to friends when I had finished with them.

I couldn't have survived without my rockers. I bought one second hand and borrowed a second one. We used them all the time - especially if they were unsettled. I also used them when the girls needed a bottle (they were on supplementary feeds for a while). I would sit on the floor and lean on the couch with one on either side of me, so they could have a bottle at the same time.

Thank you everyone.

I'm off to buy two rockers from baby bunting.
The feeding idea sold me. Thank you once again

I totally agree with the rockers best buy ever.

If an expectant twin mum asks what to get I tell them rockers are a must.

My hubby worked away so they came in really handy on my own as I could bath one and have one in the rocker, I could put them at my feet and rock them when unsettled so I could get a bit of a break and try and have a cuppa LOL
My older son loved them as he could sit between them and really feel apart of them withought having to hold them all the time.(he hated just holding one as he always felt like he was leaving the other one out)

We also got heaps of use out of our rockers! But I also think if we had been given a swing, or borrowed one, we would have found that a great addition as well. But I'd probably say rockers- definitely- swing- a bonus.

I have 1 Mothercare rocker (ebay $20) which I bought first and don't use. Once I got a fisher price vibrating bouncer there was no turning back, so I got another! I have 1 kick and play & 1 aquarium one. The girls LOVE the vibrations and I don't know how I would survive without them!! They are also getting to the stage where they really like the flashing lights and music and noises the bouncer activity bars make. I like the kick and play bouncer best probably because the activity bar only takes 2xAA batteries where the aquarium one takes 3xD batteries. I think I end up spending $10 a week on batteries for these bouncers!! But its a small price to pay for happy babies original.gif

I also do a lot of the girls feeds in their bouncers. Because they are sitting up slightly in them, I sometimes prop a cloth nappy under their chins to support the bottles and that way I can be free to do other things around the house while keeping an eye on them to check they are still sucking away and the bottles haven't fallen! It's great, the phrase "Look no hands comes to mind" hehe.

I was tempted to buy a swing, but now I'm glad I didn't after reading this thread original.gif
