Hey,
I'm half way in my pregnancy and we're having a hard time finding a nice name for a boy.
My older child is called Simon....and we are now thinking about Silas for the baby, if it's a boy. What do you think, is the pronounciation too close?
Thanks for your answers

It is a bit too similar.
What about Elias instead? (I imagine Elias is pronounced Eh-Lee-as, but I could be wrong).

My Grandma's name was Leila, and her younger sister was Lulla. I've always found it a bit strange having two names so similar.

I will go against the grain and say it would be OK. But I agree that Elias would be better.

I've had a bit of a think and I think I would probably use it. There's obviously a degree of similarity but not too much for me. And of course I love both names.

I don't think so but then in my family, Mum is Carol, I'm Catherine and my sister is Karen. And my maiden name started with Ca. Mum just went with whatever was her favourite name at the time and Dad didn't have any objections to them.

Lovely!
Considering both names could have the NN, Si, yes, they are far too close.

Way too close.
Also Silas may wonder why he got a different name when Simon got a more common one?

Definitely too similar for me. There's no way I'd even think about considering another S first name either.
