Please help. My children are doing my head in. They literally can't stand each other. They are 8mths old and they can't be in the same room, same car, same pram. At the moment my DS is screaming his head off cos DD is singing. She is the happier one and he is whingey. If she makes a noise, touches him, whatever, he goes off his head. We are now considering selling our side by side pram to get a tandem so they won't have to touch eachother. One time we were travelling for a 2 hour car journey with DH's parents following behind. It got so bad with DS screaming if DD made a single sound, we had to stop the car half way into our journey, get DD out and her car seat and put her in with the in-laws. DS is now "crawling" as well and if he crawls near her or if he touches her toys, she yells at him and he then screams his head off.

They also both have bad colds and teeth coming in so we've had very little sleep around here. DD used to be an angel - never cried or whinged, but NOW....she's turned awful. Is this normal? Is it the sickness or the teeth or is it just her changing into a crusty child??

Need advice please.

I don't really know what to say, as I never had that problem that young. My girls do fight often now they are older.

Sounds like your DD is just not feeling 100% & I'm sure that's why she isn't tolerating things she normally would.

Maybe your DS just doesn't like the sound of his sister's voice? I've never heard of this before. When my girls were about the same age, they honestly didn't take much notice of each other. They knew the other one was there, but didn't seem to have a "twin bond". As they have got older, they have become closer & I know they really do have a special bond. It did take a while, but now it's very obvious to me.

I hope I've helped in some way.

Megs - I just wanted to send you hugs!! You poor thing, this must be very hard on you and your partner...All I can say is that I hope this stage passes for you and the teeth and colds is the main culprit.
I am sure they don't hate each other - just like belinda said perhaps intolerance levels are at an all time low....
Hoping your day gets better for you lovie.

I am not going to be much help either!

At that age my girls were blissfully (?) unaware of each other! Now they fight like nothing else but scream and cry and pine if they are apart (which rarely happens if we can help it!).

I'm sure it's just s phase though and it will pass like all of the other not so great moments with our kids. Also when they are both 100% healthy and you've had some sleep (notice I said when not if!) I'm sure things will be better!

Perhaps youe DS is particularly sensative to noise which is why he doesn't like his sister singing? I am just clutching at straws really but I know my girls are both VERY sensative to certain noises and fall to pieces totally when they hear them. Maybe it's a certain pitch that she sings at??? Really I have no idea just trying to offer some support so totally disregard everythig I say if you like! original.gif

If nothing else I wish you some better days to come!

hugs

Kate
