Hi Everyone,
I'm 24 weeks pregnant with twins and my lower back has been giving me a bit of grief. The bubs are at the front so there is a fair bit of pressure. My chiropractor has suggested a maternity sling? and was hoping someone out there may have used one that they can recommend. I had a look on the internet and they seem to come in all shapes and sizes, and range in price from $13 to $95!!
I'm also finding at night even sleeping with a cushion under my belly while on my side, I'm still waking in the morning with a sore back. If any one has any suggestions here too, they would be greatly appreciated.
While I'm having a whinge about aches and pains, I've got 4 feet under my ribs that by the end of the day is really painful. Apart from removing a few ribs, I'm assuming there isn't too much I can do about that one!!

Hi there Deb - Sorry to hear about the back pain. Fortunatly I didnt get any of that (DH did though LOL) and I used a body pillow from Baines ($20) that I could wrap myself around and the belly seemed to just sink into it....HTH

Ah memories Deb. You poor darling, it sucks doesn't it? Don't have much advice for you I'm afraid. I could only sleep on my right side because of sciatica on the left if I slept on it - and add reflux so I needed to be virtually upright all the time. I just propped myself up on ~ 6 pillows until I was comfy (and then usually had to get up to pee, so would have to got through the process all over again)... Probably the best tip I found was to put a pillow between my knees when lying on my side to stop my spine twisting.
Good luck, I hope you get some sleep

My sympathies to you - I had a "belt" (a stretchy thing with velcro that went under the bump) that I got from womens' physio - can't say it really helped the back pain, though. I didn't find anything helped really and sorry to say my back pain got worse so that by 34 weeks I was using crutches to get around. I did find a good chiropractor who did some very gentle manipulation but the real problem for me was that the relaxin (hormone which makes the ligaments in your pelvis stretchy before birth so that you can get the baby(ies) out) was a little bit over-enthusiastic so my pelvis "fell apart" (medical term LOL!!) - it's called symphisis pubis disorder and I think there's a sticky about it somewhere (maybe in the Pregnancy board?).
Being in the water (I was going to say swimming but wallowing is a better term) was the only time I was really comfortable.

Thanks for your replies!!
My hubby got pushed over to his side of the bed last night so I could pile up my side with pillows and cushions. Took me a while to get to sleep with all the new bed friends, but once there didn't stir until I heard the pitter patter of elephant steps from Amy at 7 this morning.
I'll keep an eye out for one of these slings/belts. Am planning on going to Kidz Expo on Friday, so may see something there as well.
The joys of pregnancy!!
