Luckily I have ages to go because DH and I do not have the same taste in names at all. We literally despise each others name choices.
I like unusual names. DH does not. DH seems to like Top 20 names. I do not (or I do like them but do not want to use them).
Anyway, one name we don't mind (although we don't love) is Clayton. But is this name hideous? I can't tell.
Can you suggest anything else?
Names we can't/won't use are: Oliver, Oscar, Michael, Benjamin, Riley, Cooper

(Cooper is my all time favourite boys name), Andrew.
Also, have no idea for girls names but that's another thread.

I LOVE the name Clayton

I have a nephew called Clayton who is 4 and he gets called CJ (his middle name is John).
I have only met two Claytons in my life - my grandfather and my nephew! It's beautiful, and rare. I love the look of it written down as well, there's something nice about the look of it

I quite like it. I know a 2yo Clayton and he's a sweet child. I also went to school with a Clayton and he was also a nice kid, so the name has positive associations for me.
I much prefer it to Cooper.

I don't mind Clayton. I'd be a teeny bit concerned about the use of the colloquial term Clayton as in a Clayton's, a drink when you're not having a drink etc.

My friend in Canada just named her little boy Clayton and he is the cutest little boy. I reckon you should go for it!

What about Connor? It's close to Cooper and nicer than Clayton, I think.

I love the name Clayton too. I have a cousin named Clayton, and he's a good bloke. Though as a kid he was always called Clay, and I didn't even know his full name until around 11 or so

(ok, I admit, I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer!!)

I don't mind Connor, but not in love with it. DH, of course doesn't like it. Is fast becoming a PITA!

First thing I think of is the Beckham's naming their son Brooklyn cos he was conceived in Brooklyn... Are you in Melbourne? If not, FYI - Clayton is a suburb... I'd wonder where you'd conceived!
But that probably just me!

My first impression is that it's the name of NZ's most hated man.

No-one in NZ would ever name their child Clayton at the moment, but in Australia I'm sure it's not an issue.

If you ask my DH he will tell you its a terrible name (it's his), I dont mind it, but Its NMS.

I love Clayton as a name, but as I used to live there, it's off the adgenda if bumpy is a boy. Although it's not a bad place to live.

I know a horrible man named Clayton so I hate the name.

Sorry, totally unfair but it has such awful connotations for me.

I taught a Clayton about 20 years ago - he was a lovely kid and I don't think anyone commented on his name as being unusual, although it was since he was the only one.
I know one of the teachers referred to him as, "The boy you teach when you're not teaching a boy," - Clayton thought it was funny (as we all did, the first few times...) I don't think that ad's been around for a long time though, has it?

The Clayton ad hasn't been round for years but the term lives on. My hairdresser offered me a Clayton's haircut just last week.

we both like Adam but I'm not sure if we could use it because of a recent ex-colleague called Adam and it would be weird. we can't use Benjamin, Luke/Lucas or Jonah. DH doesn't like Callum thanks to "that kid on Neighbours", Jeremy, Jake, he says Regan is to "the exocist and feminine" and he despises Reuben. I despise Oliver.
Auuuuggghh this naming thing is so damn hard. I think I'll have to find out what we're having.

Our DS#1 is Clayton, he was 7 days overdue and we joked that he was 'the baby you have when you're not having a baby'.
Obviously I love it, he's 6 now and gets called Clayty by us

Same. I like Adam too. Would it be a real problem if you used to know someone by that name? Being biblical, it's been around for a really long time

It's okay, but are you in Melb?
Clayton to me speaks of a very uninspiring outer suburb with nothing much going on except a medical centre!

One of DD's friends has a younger brother Clayton, but it's spelt with a K (Klayton). He gets called Klay.
