For example if you've already donated to someone and you meet another person what are the guidelines generally around how long you need to wait between donations and out of curiosity is there a maximum nuber of times you can donate before they 'cut you off'?

I am not sure what the guide lines are but, you could find out on Aussie egg donors there are a number of women there who have donated a few times.

there is not a limit to each state im afraid - as a donor you can donate to produce up to 10 families, and then you can only redonate back to those existing famlies as they already have your dna ( in the form of a child i mean). it used to be a certain amount per state but years ago they made it a limit of 10 families ( not 10 donations) you can create. Should you like to double check contact the Infertility Treatment Authority online. I personally know this as i tried to donate to an 11th family and was told this was not possible due to th limits. In terms of how many cycles you can do, there are no limits. Both Monash and melbourne ivf allowed me to do my 40th donation 2yrs ago and didnt raise their eyebrows.
donating days are over but helping days are not.

Thanks Pisces.
Another question, does anyone know(or would mind asking if they are about to go to their clinic for an appointment) whether it's possible to donate after having your tubes tied? I'm very not keen on any more of my own kids and would love to have my tubes tied but not if it would affact my ability to donate.

You can still donate after having a tubal ligation.
I had my tubes tied in May last year, and am now looking at becoming a donor. I was told it would not be an issue.

Pisces00 ~ here is a link you may find interesting!
www.ivf.com.auOn Page 10 it states from 1st Jan 2010
QUOTE
The NSW Assisted Reproductive Technology Act
The NSW Government has implemented the NSW Assisted Reproductive Technology Act,
effective from the 1st January 2010. The NSW legislation has a number of important
implications for patients who are considering whether to donate or receive donated
eggs/sperm or embryos.
The main points of the Act are:
• donated eggs from a single egg donor is only allowed to create a maximum of five
families (including the family of the donor).• when a child is born following treatment with donated eggs, identifying information
about the donor of the eggs will be placed on a State registry.
• once the child is 18 years of age, he or she will have access to this information.
So to my understanding by the above quote and link, in NSW an Egg Donor can only donate successfully to 4 women.

Oh! thanks for the info, they must have changed the laws or perhaps limited it to so many recipients per state but overall not exceed 10 families in the whole of Australia. Anyway thanks for the info x
