We struggled to find a name for our DS1 and in the end settled for the names we both kinda liked (but weren't jumping over the moon for) - Charlie Josiah.

Now with DS2 we're struggling again. We've kind of come up with a few options, but not overlly thrilled again with any of them and I'm almost 38wks so running out of time. The name combinations are as follows, with my following hesitations.

"Matthew Micah"
- think Matthew is a bit too comon
- only have Micah as middle name, cause don't want it shortened to "mike"

"Isaac Joshua"
- friends of ours from church have a 3yo named Isaac, so a little hesitant
- We both LOVE joshua, but DH has cousin with same surname named Joshua so refuses to have it as first name for our DS cause then exactly the same

What do you think???

I like Matthew Isaac together.
fifi-trixibelle
From the combos as they are, I definitely prefer Isaac Joshua. I would prefer Isaac Matthew, Matthew Isaac or Micah Isaac though.
Kitty Fantastico
If you both love Joshua, I would use it. It's only your DH's cousin, so not immediate family IMO. Are your DH and his cousin close?

Isaac Joshua is a truly beautiful combination for a boy.

Matthew and Micah don't work well together.
Monroe
I prefer Micah Isaac to be honest.
EssentialBludger
Isaac Joshua from those combos.

I do like Micah too though.
misshavok
I can't decide between those combos but I must say that Micah is my favourite name of the lot.

Also, we have a Micah (17-ish) at our church and he has NEVER been called Mike, only ever Micah. But he looks like a Micah to me and definitely not a Mike, so that may have something to do with it?!
asonaseason
Isaiah Joshua ?

Isaac Joshua would be my pick.

The Micah I knew was never called Mike. So I wouldn't discount Micah Matthew because of the NN worry.
spellfall
I like Isaac Joshua and Matthew Isaac.

Me too
MnM
Awww i love Charlie Josiah, it flows so well together.

I've never been a huge fan of Isaac.

My pick would be Matthew, but with a totall different MN as i really don't like Micah.
Bel Rowley
All the names are quite nice, I don't really have a preference. I wouldn't rule out Micah as a first name - I've never known a Micah who was called Mike.
Ianthe
Isaac Joshua is wonderful. A friend of mine recently named their son Matthew Joshua which I thought was a nice combination.
bubblebear
Isaac Joshua would be my pick.
~THE~MAGICIAN~
I like both Mathew and Micah but not together.

Not a fan of Isaac. Love Joshua though.

What about Reuben?

Charlie & Reuben sound great together.

Reuben Micah
Reuben Joshua
Reuben Isaac
Reuben Mathew

4plus1makes5
Micah Isaac for sure... I know one Micah and he is never called Mike
happyhales
THanks all for your suggestions & opinions. Have a bit more thinking on it to do.

Reuben Micah

Reuben Isaac
Reuben Mathew

My nephew, who we see regularly and is the same age as my DS1, is named Reuben. (I've always loved that name too, and does go together well with Charlie! The boys get up to lots of mischief together biggrin.gif)
~Lila~
I know 3 Micah's and none of them ever get called Mike, always Micah.

I would actially love Micah Joshua, that would be my pick happy.gif
Gudrun
I don't think Matthew is particularly common in the current generation.

I see all the following as good options:

Matthew Micaiah
Matthew Joshua
Micah Matthew
Isaac Micah
Divine53
My picks would be:

Micah Joshua
Isaac Joshua

Was going to say the same thing. Matteus is another variation if you think Matthew too common (although don't think it is for boys born this decade - more of an old name).
Jen1
Matthew Isaac would be my pick.

so DH went away for work for a few days,... had a discusion when he came back.

i'd decided on Isaac Joshua
He'd ruled out Isaac due to friends thing

I'd ruled out the "matthew micah" combination (caus am starting to think its not best combo)
and he decided on matthew micah!

luckily all the contractions I was having last night stopped!! LOL
