There are so many of you though. Could you please write a brief summary of yourself so I can work out who is who!
I know there is a due date/birthday list and some of you have descriptive signatures but I'd like more info. Sorry to be a pain. You probably all know each other by now.

So!

Age: 31
Location: Eyre Peninsula (South Australia)
Children: Georgia and Kelsey (6 years) (identical twins) and Piper (nearly 1) :gasp:
Pregnancy: my twin preganancy was cruisy until 29 weeks when I went for a normal check up and mentioned some pain I had been having under my R ribs.
After some blood test, urine and bp check I was sent to hospital in Adelaide (8 hours drive away) and was admitted there with HELLP syndrome (a type of pregnancy induced hypertension).
They were born at 32 weeks (c-section) when things turned pear shaped with my tests. They stayed in hospitial until they were term so it was a long time away from my family, friends and home (3 months all up) Now they are 6 and full of beans!
My pregnancy with Piper was fantastic and had a VBAC when she was 11 days overdue (not induced).

Someone upstairs has a wicked sense of humour.....two months early for the twins.....11 days overdue for Piper! Tounge1.gif

Children: Busy growing a couple of aliens as we speak!
Pregnancy: Due 22 Nov, Ob won't let me go over 38 weeks so we should expect to see the two naughty babies by 8 Nov. Don't know yet if they're ID or fraternal - they are in separate sacs with separate placentas - Ob says we won't know if they're ID or not till after they're born and we have genetic testing (unless of course they're boy/girl or are very very different). They're more likely to be fraternal tho as twins are heriditary in my family (my sister was a twin, her twin died in utero and my mum had twin sisters).

Hi Jacqie

NAME: Melanie, DH Michael
AGE : Me 28, DH 31
LOCATION: Sydney (penrith)
CHILDREN: 5 year old son Brayden. 5 month old identical twin boys Ryan & Khain
PREGNANCY: Managed to make it to 38 weeks.
Ryan weighed 2.550 and Khain weighed 2.635
Ryan was born with a diaphragmatic hernia (which means there was a hole in his diaphragm and his bowels were all in his chest cavity). We were aware that there was a problem with Ryan from the 18 week scan when we found out it was twins. He went straight to the childrens hospital( within 2 hours of delivery). I was at my local hospital with Khain.
Ryan had his operation when he was 4 days old. The bowel in his chest had pushed his heart to the other side of his chest, pushed one of his kidneys into his pelvis and stopped his left lung from developing properly. He was in the childrens hospital for 3 1/2 weeks and has made a complete recovery and is only slightly behind Khain (800gr) in his weight.

The twins were born at 32 weeks via emergency ceasar - too eventful to put in here - could take all day but we spent 1 month in special care unit of Toowoomba Base Hospital before coming home.
The twins are almost now 2 - which is amazing in itself!!!! Love being a mum to twins and having a three year old as well. Whilst it is exhausting and trying at times it is well worth the effort .

Hi Jacquie

I am pretty new to this fabulous site too.

A little bit about me and my beautiful family.

We live in Sydney

Me - Sharon
Age - 40
Occ - SAHM

DH - Bruno
Age - 43
Occ - Commercial Insurance Rep

DD - Jessica
Age - 10

DD - Eleanor (Twin 1)
DD - Melissa (Twin 2)
Age - 4

Eleanor and Melissa were born at 31 weeks after quite an eventful pregnancy that saw me in hospital fairly frequently, particularly in the early couple of months, then diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 28 weeks.

My waters broke at 31 weeks only for Twin 1, however, I did not go into labour until some 12 hours later. I went into hospital when my waters broke and there I was to stay until my beautiful babies were born whenever that would be, great I thought I could lie here now for 9 weeks !!!!!!!!!! what am I going to do with Jessica ? Anyway that was at around 1pm and no other signs of labour were evident, I sent DH home at around 10pm that night as I settled in for the duration of the rest of the pregnancy - little did I know that within a couple of hours I would have my little girls and very quickly, so quickly in fact that DH arrived as they were being taken into NICU.

We all survived this ordeal ok and the girls spent 7 weeks in RHW Sydney just growing, thank goodness no medical intervention was needed in terms of oxygen or other complications sometimes associated with premature births. Unfortunately I had to be discharged after only 1 week and the hardest thing of all was leaving my two little babies in a hospital and going home alone - this was quite a blur as I was hysterical that day, the shock didn't really hit until I went down to say goodbye - OMG did I fall apart as I had to turn and walk out of that ward. Visiting twice everyday kept me occupied and then whilst at home there was still Jessica and Bruno to look after, the house, and of course the breast pump - this was fantastic as I could take the precious breast milk into my little girls for their tube feeds and it also kept my supply going, we ended up breastfeeding until they were just over 2 years old and then they both decided they no longer wanted it.

Anyway enough rambling on - they are now 4 years old and off to school next year - sad.gif, so then starts another phase in our lives.

I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do and good luck with your little bubs - one baby is beautiful but when you can double, tripple it or even more it is the best, exhausting, but rewarding and so very very precious - there is no greater gift than a child.

Cheers
Sharon

Hi Jacqui,

Great idea because I'm new here too!

Name: Deb (32)
DH: Adam (34)
Location: Melbourne
Children: Amy - born 16 December 02, fighting a sleep right now but sounds like all has just gone quiet. Yay!!! Time for a quiet cuppa and snooze on the couch!
Pregnancy: Twins on the way. Due 20 October, but will be induced at 38 1/2 weeks if I make it that far (both above average in size already). They are fraternal twins, but not sure what we're having (not allowed to find out either). My husband is stoked because he always wanted three. Me, I'm still wondering where we're going to put them!!

No great surprise because my dad is a twin, his mum is one, her mum, blah, blah. Pregnancy has been pretty good. Twins explains why I was sooooooo tired for the first few weeks, but feeling ok now although a few aches and pains. No nausea, so v. lucky there.
Have just toilet trained Amy, so think I can handle 2 in nappies (3 would have been fun, not to mention expensive!!).

Love the site, and has helped me make some decisions re prams, etc.

Regards, Deb

We are expecting our first kiddies in Novemeber although I am convinced they will arrive in October sometime. We found out at 7 wks that we were expecting twins (I had a heart attack and made the sonographer check 3 times) and we have just had it confirmed that they SHOULD be a girl and a boy. We are very excited about meeting the little munchkins.

Apart from the extreme morning/all day all night sickness the pregnancy has been pretty smooth. Hopefully it continues this way.

Name: Julie
Age: 30
Children: Luke and Jenna who are almost 11 months
Pregnancy: I had the babies at 38 weeks by c/s as they were both breech, and I had a few other complicating factors. I spent the last three months at home on bed/lounge rest after early labour at 25 weeks. Other than that my pregnancy was good and the babies were fine when born . I often think I would like to experience that pregnant glow and enjoy pregnancy in the way other women talk about it. Maybe one day..

Location: Country NSW

CHILDREN: Elizajayne 5, Joe nearly 4, Lascinda 2, Darcy and Kane 9 months

Had a terrible pregnancy, sick the whole time, gestational diabetes (had this for all 4 pregnancies) and just tired and miserable. DH left work a couple of months before my due date because I couldn't cope with the kids and the house work and cooking. Didn't much get out of bed. Went into early labor 3 times!!!
Had a C/S at 38 1/2 weeks because they finally got sick of my crying and complaining. Darcy was 7pounds 1ounce and Kane was 7pounds 2ounces.
Love them all to bits most days LOL

Hi Jacquie and all fabulous mothers of twins and multiples...

I have been an EB member for a while and I found this particular Twins and Multiple thread and the mothers here are a real life-saver (you all who helped me know who you are original.gif).
Unfortunately I am not an active poster original.gif

Name: Emilia
Age: 30 y.o
Location: Sydney
Children: Nathan and Jeremy (15 months old on Wednesday)
Pregnancy: Not pregnant at the moment and not planning to be pregnant again yet.

I fell pregnant with fraternal twins at the first cycle and it was a real shock for us.
Had a considerably comfortable pregnancy (apart from all common ailments in third trimester like occasional back pain, sciatica, and mild symphisis pubis disfunction).

I was induced at 38.5 wks due to the babies were considered too large for my body size (I was 40 kg before falling pregnant and still 40kg now! Got to 55kg before the boys' birth original.gif).

Both boys were born vaginally with the 'help' of epidural...
Nathan was born at 6.35pm (2.53kg, 50cm) and Jeremy at 6.49pm (2.475kg, 49 cm).

PS. Thank you for starting this, Jacquie.

PPS. My birth story can be seen on: http://www.essentialbaby.com.au/CFforum/vi...=16&Topic=90396

Hi Jacquie and Everyone!

Name: Kate
Age: 31
DH: Adrian
Age: 35
Location: Perth WA
CHILDREN: just Jones, the only cat (who is in for a shock!)
PREGNANCY: I am thoroughly enjoying my first ever PG with what looks like Fraternal twins (though apparenly they cannot be sure unless they do a DNA test after birth). I am 24 weeks pregnant this week and have had (touch wood) no problems other than morning sickness - which wasn't THAT bad. Can't wait till our little surprises are born!

This site is really fabulous and the advice of the twin Mummies is invaluable!

Cheers,

Kate

Hi to all multiple mums and mums to be!!

Name: Alison
Age: 28
Location: Eastern suburbs Melbourne VIC
Children: Mikayla 3, Twins Jordan (B) & Isabella (G) just turned 2...

Pregnancy: First 5 months absolute dream until i started to feel blah... For me thats when it became hard as i was a single mum and had trouble in last few months doing daily things for my eldest (She was only 19m when twins came along). I was induced at 38 weeks and luckily was already 4cm dialated so the Dr announced it would be quick!! Anyway Jordan came out first after 2 HOURS and then 7 minutes later out came Isabella. Both natural, no problems or stiches or anything - BUT EPIDURAL HELPED ALOT!!

Jordan was 6lb 1 & Isabella 4lb 15

I also love been a twin mum plus one and adore them although i admit it is hard work!!

Good Luck to all mums to be - it's all worth it!!

Hi Jacquie and other multiple mums
Wow there are so many of us I had to join in.
Name: Adele or AO
Age: 35
Live: Bayside Melbourne soon to be relocating to Abu Dhabi UAE!
Children: Lily Age 2yrs 8 months, Liam and Callum 14mths.
Prg: Identical twin pg, one placenta. Found out at 8 weeks while supposed to be on relaxing holiday in Port Douglas, huge shock. Many dramas a long the way...threatened labour at 27 weeks, hospitalised for 2 weeks sent home on bed rest. Suspected first stage twin to twin transfusion at 26wks, seemed to correct itself after time in hospital, still not sure how. Made it to 35weeks 5 days, twin two stopped growing, actually lost weight, weight difference suspected about 500g so advised to Csection. On delivery weight diff actually 200g and both really well. Boys stayed in Special Care for 2 and half weeks before coming home.
NOW: Growing so quick, hard to believe how worried we were about whether we were going to meet two healthy babies or not. Never know it now. Soon to be off on a new adventure OS and can't wait. Long Haul flight should be very interesting!

Name: Melissa
Age: 24
Location: Brisbane
Children: Jade & Hannah (27/3/05)
Pregnancy: Fraternal girls were born at 35 weeks and had to stay in the Special Care Unit for 2 weeks being fed through tubes in their noses. It was awesome when they were allowed to come home!! It takes its toll having to visit the hospital everyday to see your babies.

Basically there were no complications throughout my pregnancy, except 4 months of morning sickness and the usual aches and pains associated with lugging 2 babies around inside you for 8 months or so!

My waters broke 2 days before the twins arrived, but my contractions were irregular so at the end of the second day (when I was exhausted from no sleep and could no longer stand the pain!) I was put on a drip to induce me. Long story short, epidural didn't work, was too exhausted to push so my beautiful girls were born vaginally with the help of suction from the doctor. So much for my pain-free birth, but oh well you soon forget when you have 2 gorgeous babies to care for! Jade was born first at 8:13pm at 2400g, followed by Hannah at 8:28pm at 2490g
