Hi twin mummies

Looks like my 2 weeks of relief is short lived!

I have monochorionic twins and one had abnormal doppler flows since week 19 which meant growth was restricted in one twin. 2 weeks ago the doppler flows became normal!! I was so happy and so were my Drs!

But today i had a scan and it looks like one of the twins growth (measurements) has slowed right down (the same one which had abnormal flows before).

Looks like weekly monitoring again and it could mean delivering earlier (im 31 wks now).

Has this happened to any of you in your pregnancies?

I am not stressing about it too much because im over 31 weeks but still a little worried...How do I know they are ready to come out?!

Hi Ali ~ Just wanted to send you hugs and reassure you that the opinion and advice you get from your Ob is what is going to best for Mum and Babies. Can they give you an approximate weight difference yet? 31 weeks is great and taking it easy will also help...Throughout my whole pregnancy we had 500-800grms difference with Brooklen being the biggest but Fraternal, so obviously very different to your situation. I was closely monitored and then when the difference was at the biggest I was booked in for c-section and that worked out to be 37 weeks. Sending you hugs and weekly visits is extra monitoring and procautions. Great to hear that you have installed faith in the ob and are not stressing too much!

Alison,

Got your SMS yesterday. Hang in there I am sure everything will be ok. You are in good hands at RPA and the Drs will be keeping a close eye on you. Just remember that if you feel anything out of the ordinary to call them, no matter what.

Can they give you an approx. size of each bub yet? When is your next scan?

Keep us updated and big hugs from me.

Cheers
Angela

Hi Ali,
Kylie had her 32 week scan a bit over a week ago and it was discovered that one of the twins had started to slow down in regards to growth. It was estimated that one twin was 200 grams heavier than the other. Initially this concerned us some what, however, after discussions with our Ob, he informed us it was not abnormal and that they will just keep a close eye on them in the coming weeks. He also informed us that by being over the 30 week mark, he has no problems in delivering them early with a very high sucess rate. This certainly put our minds at ease. Like Haylie our twins are fraternal but I hope this helps.
Regards,
Scott

hi Ali
just wanted to comment on your situation. I had identical twin boys (mono) and one of them had a 2 vessel umbilical cord so was always showing up abnormal on the doppler. He was initially much smaller (at one stage it was 500-800grams). He slowly but surely started catching up in weight and by the time they were born at 38 weeks the boys weights were 2.550 and 2.635.
I hope it all works out well for you

Hi I hope & pray that things work out all o.k for you and your bundles.

I had regualr u/s due to the boys being IVF. I was told all through-out my pregnancy that there was only approx. 200gr difference between the boys. But there was a big diff in there birth weight Twin 1 (Korbin) was 2145gr and Twin 2 (Jarrod) was 2910gr so there was a 765gr difference. Korbin stopped growing at approx. 30 to 32 weeks and they didn't pick up on it with all the u/s i had. So im glad that they have picked up things with you at this stage. And at least you are at 31 wks Hoping things goes as smoothly as possible for as long as possible. original.gif

Hi Ali
Well done for getting so far in your pregnancy without any dramas. I had a similar problem at 32 weeks & there was approx 300gms difference in size between my girls. I was expecting mz monochorionic twins too (or so I thought...) and was having fortnightly monitoring to check for TTTS.
A week later all was fine, Jessica had regained the 300gms and they were born at 37+1 weeks weighing 2.440kg & 2.430kgs!
Funnily enough, it also turns out they are fraternal and were born with 2 fused placentas, so you never know?!
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy original.gif

Thanks so much everyone for all the positive comments!

I guess I am just worrying too much...sometimes I feel like shouting "Just GROW goddamit!!" I look at the ultrasound report all the time and think "if only Connor would just move onto the centile range..."

There is such a difference between the twins - the larger one (which is 23% larger) always moves and has hiccups. Where as the smaller one doesnt move much at all, no hiccups.. Maybe its cos the larger one is busy eating all the 'food'!! LOL!!

All I can think of at this stage is getting everything ready incase they do come early so that keeps my mind off things a little.

thanks again everyone...
