Hi Everybody!

Wizz sorry to hear about the risk factor, it must be reassuring how thorough they are being though...

I'm not sure when my last post was so hopefully I don't repeat myself.

Hi Peaches - look forward to your update xx

Purple - 2 little stretch marks either side of the belly button is often all people get (yes I've done ALOT of research) so fingers crossed for you. Someone asked what oil I've been using - LM Naturals Stretch Mark Oil for Pregnant Women and I liked it so much I have now bought the one for mothers that you use post delivery. I was hard to find at a decent price but if anyone is interested best I can find at the moment is at the Tara Health Centre (online or the store is in WA).

Ready and Ellorilee thinking of you and hoping you find distractions to pass the time before testing.

Star your pics are beautiful wub.gif

Thurgie, are you managing to keep the bub a secret or are you so sick that everyone either knows or has guessed by now?

lils - that's not public! I was so waiting for a humilating shopping centre or public transport story laugh.gif Still it is awful spewing anywhere, glad your instructor was so lovely about it.

Rachberry - glad things are giong great after a shakey start.

Well 6 days to go for me apparently - I am sure I am going to go over though, bub is just so high! 3rd day at home and its a little boring, so much so that I went and bought myself a playstation game roll2.gif
I went to play it but its updating or something!

I had some practice spasms last night, I think they were related to diarrhoea (sorry TMI) but I was having waves of pain for 3 hours, I was very confident all along that they weren't contractions as they began too painful and were quite high (must have something to do with everything being so squashed I think) but OMG they hurt - good prep I guess unsure.gif

I am getting new carpet in the bedrooms tomorrow which will be nice but better put some plastic between my side of the bed and the ensuite me thinks!

Really would like to hear some news from Binxi! And Kristl is almost a week over her EDD too.

Hope everyone is well.
Charley+James' mum
Had my first antenatel appointment today and discussed about the 2 vessel cord, the doctor didn't seem to worried which I guess is a good thing. Basically she said most are born healthy and my risks for chromosomal abnormalities are incredibly low so they will check it out more at my 20 week scan.

However because of previous blood clots they want me to take warfarin/blood thinning tablets for 6 weeks after delivery cause that's when there is a higher risk of clots. Good thing is tho they are not going to make me have blood thinning injections during the pregnancy which is great, they are just going to monitor me and if I have any signs of clots they wil give me ultrasounds etc and then put me on the injections from then on.

Have to book in for my 20week scan which I'm planking to get in on the 12th of may when I will be 20 weeks exactly. They want me to wait til then so bub is bigger and it is easier for them to do a more involved scan due to the 2 vessel cord. Will be finding out gender then too. I would love a girl

Tara27
Hi everyone,

Sorry for the long time between posts I have been reading but have been so tired lately I haven't had the energy to reply wacko.gif

WBMA - Glad the doc wasn't too concerned about the 2 vessel cord, hope all goes well at your next scan. Good pick up on the maternity jeans too!

Pumpkin - Can't believe you are bored at home after only 3 days! Although I love pottering and doing stuff around the house so I could probably occupy myself for quite some time tongue.gif . Hope you don't go too far over and bubs is here before you know it!

Alethaki - Glad today is a better day for you. I guess the first few weeks are both you and bubs getting to know each other...I'm sure you will have it be on top of it all in no time.

Peaches - Hope all went well at your OB appointment...I can't believe you only have 8 weeks to go.. how exciting!! four fifths of the way through! biggrin.gif

Thurgie - Hope all went well with your scan also can't wait to hear about it

Purple - Only 2 stretch marks is a good effort! Although I know we would all like to be as lucky as Pumpkin and avoid them altogether! wink.gif . Also, love the image of you waddling off to your lunch date hehe roll2.gif roll2.gif

Star - Love your scan pics..how amazing are the 4d pictures wub.gif . Glad all the measurements were good too

Wizzlet - Sorry to hear that they have now classified you as high risk, although it sounds like they have everything under control and all going well you can still go for the birth you want which is great. Sounds like you feel a lot more comfortable with it all now you have a better understanding so that is a good thing also. Boo to the no sex..but if it means you get a healthy full term little Maddie then it is a no brainer that it is worth it yyes.gif

Magichour - Yay for holidays! ddance.gif Sorry to hear you are still suffering with the MS, but as someone else said, only 4 weeks to go till you hit that magical 12 week mark and then hopefully it will ease for you hands.gif

Roz - Sorry you are having such a hard time with the clomid. Hopefully you will see those 2 lines this month and won't need to worry about next cycle at all!

Small T - Congrats on the engagement, what fabulous news biggrin.gif . As for the name, I would just put my foot down and say no...and I agree with one of the others..you are pushing it out so you should use that as a bargaining chip roll2.gif

Mrs Brady - Hope you get your positive opk after Friday when your DH is home! hands.gif

AFM - We had our first trimester scan last week at 13 weeks exactly and all measurements were looking good. I couldn't believe the difference in development of the baby from our last peek at bubs at 9w3d at the OB's office!! We got some great pics so I will upload those to the FB page (have no idea how to do that here!). Then got our results of the NT test and they came back low risk so really happy with that. Have booked in for the 20 week scan on the 13th May, so not too long to wait original.gif . I am waiting for the 2nd trimester energy boost but it hasn't happened yet! I am still feeling pretty exhausted most of the time but other than that I feel good.

A couple of thread questions for the preggy ladies -

  • Are you having / have you had the flu shot? My OB recommends it but I am totally in 2 minds as to whether to have it or not...would love to hear your opinions.
  • What creams / oils is everyone using for stretch marks?
  • When to start conditioning nipples? (Lol) A friend of mine has just had a bub and has told me that I should be conditioning my nipples already but I had never heard of such a thing until she mentioned it to me! roll2.gif Help!
Hope everyone is well...and a big hello to everyone I have missed!
StAr80
Thanks for all the lovely comments about the scan pic, I am in love too wub.gif

WBMA, good news that the two vessels is not a problem for your ob! Good they are keeping an eye on bub and you though! Starting the countdown for the 20 weeks scan!

Pumpkinbum, thanks for the info on the alphabet poster. I love the color of it will be one of the colors we are planning to use in our nursery! Also thanks for the info on the stretchmark oil. I am now using Weleda, which I love but it stays a bit oily after application so I was keeping my eye our for another natural brand that is less oily after application.

aleithaki, good to hear you are having a better day today! And you can delete your signature by clicking on your name in the left navigation menu and then under your signature you choose 'edit my signature' and then you can delete it.

lils, I can imagine you were a bit embarrased about it! Good your instructor was so nice about it!

Purple, we also have a 4d scan pic from our 12 weeks scan but there it still looks like an alien and not really like a baby as with this one. Strange you were told you they often don't work out before 28 weeks!
I'll keep my fingers crossed the stretch marks stay away for the remaining weeks!

Magic hour, sorry to hear you're still feeling sick! Hopefully it won't stay with you for that long anymore!

MrsB, like to follow your OPK journey! And hopefully they will get darker soon!

Wizzlet, sorry to hear you are now high risk but good they are keeping such a close eye on you and not taking any risk! I'll keep my fingers crossed the rest of the pregnancy will progress nicely without any more problems and you can deliver Maddie in the birth centre! Also sorry to hear about the things you have to give up!
I didn't expect they would use the 4d scan with either this one or the 12 weeks one as I always though you had to pay for getting such a scan. But needless to say I am very happy about them!

Thurgie, how did your scan go today?

Peaches, you really make me laugh with your post at redicilous times! And baking scones at night???!!! roll2.gif Maybe you should consider shift work to keep yourself busy when you can't sleep wink.gif
Can't believe you are alreayd 32 weeks! It seems like yesterday you got your BFP!

SmallT, congratulations with your engagement! That is so exciting and romantic! And WOW, Las Vegas, that would be cool (although I would miss my family too much to do such thing, which was also our reason to get married back in the Netherlands so all our family and friends could attend).

Roz, sorry you are having a hard time with Clomid. Good luck with holding out testing though! Ready, good you are waiting to test too! I am keeping my fingers crossed for the both of you this month!

livview, good news about your GTT results!!

Rach, good to hear things are going all well now! Enjoy your little family!!

Seasideshells, your weddingplans sound good! Do you have a German background? I love the idea to have both sides represented!

Hi Tara, we posted on the same time. Good to hear your scan went good as well and good news about the NT results!

Flu shot, Do you mean a normal flu shot or the vaccin against swine flu?
I never had a flu shot in my life and my GP and MF haven't mentioned it. Personally I thought a flu shot is only necessary if you are already a high medical risk but if it makes you feel more comfortable I would do it!

Stretchmark oil I am using Weleda pregnancy oil and I love the smell of it and works good so far. It stays a bit oily after application so that is the only downside.

conditioning nipples, not sure about that one. But I have seen some nipple creams in pharmasist so if they are dry perhpas it is not such a bad idea (?)
Wizzlet
Tara - Conditioning the nipples?!! What the??? I am assuming she means moisturising them? If that is the case, I have been using Bio Oil and Sorbelene cream, head to toe daily (morning and night, I use sorb in the morning, oil at night) in the hope I can avoid stretch marks (hasn't happened... mad.gif two massive ones have appeared along where my knickers would ordinarily come up to, in the last few weeks as I have grown a lot in that time). So I rub my boobs over, along with tummy, thighs and bum.... Great to hear your scan went well and all is looking good.

Purple - laugh.gif I waddle everywhere too these days! One of my (non-pregnant) friends said to me yesterday 'Jes, you even have the pregnant walk happening!'... Thanks!!! How to make a beached whale feel less whale like!

WBMA - I agree that it is a good thing if the OB isn't too concerned at this stage and especially if more babies are born healthy than not, that is reassuring too.

Pumpkin - A playstation game!!!! Is that your plan to get you through labour?? tongue.gif DH and I joke that we are going to play monopoly... We figure the baby will be born before one of us wins (or is prepared to go admit they are out of the game!!).

Aleithaki - Pleased to hear today has been a better day. grin.gif

Lils - You poor thing!!! As someone who had a few public displays of upchuck reflexes, you have my sympathy!
Charley+James' mum
Tara -

Flu shot; my GP recommended I get one when I was ttc to cover me for a while. So mines over and done with.

Strechmarks; I have heard bio oil is good. Might get myself some soon. I haven't got any strechmarks yet but my whole stomach was covered in them when pregnant with my son so maybe my stomachs stretched enough from last time lol or I will just get them in the exact places I had them before

Nipples; never heard of conditioning them. Might look into that

Thanks for the responses to my questions girls!

I thought 'conditioning of the nipples' sounded hilarious too...so glad I am not the only one that had never heard of this!! roll2.gif Maybe I shall do some googling.....

My friend said that by doing this you are preparing the nipples for BF and if you start doing it early enough it can help prevent bleeding / cracked nipples. She recommended a cream called Lanisoh (sp?) I think.

Star - I am talking about the flu shot, but I am pretty sure that the vaccine contains a swine flu strain this year as well so it covers you for both. I don't really like the idea of getting the vaccine when I'm pregnant but I know it can be nasty if you get the flu while pregnant so not sure which way to go.

As for stretch marks I don't have any yet touch wood! I already had a bottle of bio oil so have been using that and also a Palmers Cocoa Butter stretch mark cream sample when I remember but just wondered how you guys have found the products you've been using.
Thurgie
Hi ladies, my scan went well yesterday, everything looks great and our little man is very active. Dr did make a comment on what big lips he has and how his limbs are measuring extra long (DH and I both very tall). He did some pretty funny things during the scan and we have some great photos and we even got a dvd (I had no idea we were getting all this stuff so it was very exciting) I'm going to try post a pic here on EB, ive never done it before so I hope it works.

Sorry don't know if that worked or not. If it didnt can someone please tell me how to post a pic!!!!

Pumpkinbum - Oh yes everyone knows we are pregnant now seeing im nearly 21 weeks its getting hard to hide. I havent been sick at all since about 11 weeks so ive been lucky there too.

Tara - I have been using Palmers oil on my belly and just been rubbing vitamin E on my chest and nipples (but I did that before falling pregnant too.)

Hello to everyone else waves.gif Still no news on Binxi????
purple_daisy
Morning ladies

Oh lils I'm sorry to hear about the public sickness experience. I am so pleased the instructor was good about it. I completely feel your pain as I threw up on a crowded peak hour bus and it was mortifying blush.gif I have avoided buses as much as possible ever since. Were there other pg ladies in your class who would understand and could help you?

Pumpkin enjoy the new carpet. I recommend going to your local reject shop/$2 shop because we got a good quality tarp for $3 that protects the carpet on my side of the bed up to the ensuite. We just lay a towel on top so my feet don't slip or get cold when I get up at night.

WBMA I'm so pleased the doc felt most SUA bubs are healthy, can't wait to hear how your 20 week scan will go and what you are having bbluestork.gif ppinkstork.gif

Thurgie hooray for such a good scan result! I will PM you info on posting pics.

Questions:

Flu shot - I haven't had mine and decided not to. I know that many pregnant women get them but I am just playing it uber-safe and will look to get it done after the baby is born.

Stretch marks - a doctor told me that no oil or cream in the world will stop you getting stretch marks if your skin is destined to get them (there are so many women with success stories using particular creams though, so am beginning to doubt this). Apparently vitamin E/aloe vera creams aid the skin's elasticity which will help any stretch marks to heal quicker. So I have a big bottle of aloe vera moisturiser that I have started to use on my tummy and hips. As I mentioned the other day I have recently developed two 2cm long stretch marks near my belly button but I'm hoping the moisturiser will help me get rid of them quickly after the birth.

Nipples oomg.gif nno2.gif I was advised by a midwife to avoid putting harsh soaps on them in the final weeks which might dry them out but otherwise I just leave them alone grin.gif
~lils~
Pumpkinbum - okay, so it wasn’t that public, but it was public enough for me!! After 25 weeks of nausea I thought the only consolation was it hadnt been bad enough to chuck in public!! laughing2.gif I think the worst bit was having to sit out the rest of the class and not do anything while everything returned to normal before they would let me drive home! Hope you manage to find some things to occupy your time with so you dont go too stir crazy waiting for bub to arrive!!

Purple_daisy - thanks, although I think your experience would have been a million times worse!! The class is pretty much all older men and women, but they were all understanding about it. Lucky i had a towel with me so that contained everything...

WBMA - glad to hear that the issue with the cord doesn’t sound too bad and they are keeping a close eye on things. Only 5 weeks to go til your next scan!

Thurgie - sorry the pic didn’t work for me sad.gif You need to load it onto a photobucket or picasa site first - if using photobucket there is generally a thing on the page that gives you the code for links to include it in a message board so you can copy it directly, but it should basically be [ img ] http://…(website for pic)[ /img ] And hopefully that will work! Good to hear your scan was so wonderful though! Looking forward to seeing a pic biggrin.gif

Tara - yay for a good scan result! Saw your pics on FB too - they are gorgeous biggrin.gif

Flu shot - I had it before we went overseas, so right before I fell. Was very unsure about getting but the doc strongly recommended it though. Really hoping i dont need another one coming into winter but i think i'm covered.

On conditioning the nipples - I have been reading a breastfeeding book (that used to belong to my mum so it’s a bit old but found it the other day when cleaning up and thought it would be interesting to read!) - it has a section on this during pregnancy - says its not necessary, just might be helpful. It recommends after you have a shower and have dried off, gently rolling the nipple between your fingers just to get used to it being handled. One of the main issues is having inverted nipples so it tells you how to check for that as it is useful to know beforehand as you might need nipple shields. Also tells you how to express if you want to towards the end of the pregnancy. I have really sensitive nipples so have been trying it out occassionally. Also, it recommends not using and creams or soaps on your nipples as it can dry them out and prevent the natural oils they produce from working. If anything it says to use pure wool fat (?! Well it was written in the 80's…I'm guessing the Lanisoh cream people recommend is the modern day equivalent) or olive oil! On that note, while checking them out last night - sorry for TMI but I have already been able to express some colostrum! Its kinda weird. But it says it can happen from about now…

LenaK
Wizzlet: Sorry to hear you've been stamped with that high risk stamp, although thats great news that you still can have the birth centre. I know exactly how you feel though - that risk is constantly hanging over your head sad.gif It does sound like everything is well managed though and I have to agree with Tara - no sex is a bummer but ultimately what wouldn't you do to get a healthy full term baby? I've lost my sex drive completely - I like the idea of it and I miss it but it's just not working for me. ddown.gif Poor DH.

Pumpkin: 6 days! Woohoo! Apparently it's quite common for babies (especially first) not to drop until right before labour. Glad to hear you are keeping yourself entertained though :-)

WBMA: Good to hear you don't have to have injections. I hope all stays well between now and that the 20wk scan reveals no problems.

Tara: Really glad your scan came back all well!

Flu shot, I've never had a flu shot ever. I've also never had the flu. My GP mentioned it in my pre-conception check up, but she basically said if I was young, fit, healthy and not susceptible to getting the flu then I really didn't need it (and she's quite pro-vac!)
Stretchmarks I am using Bio-oil - every morning after my shower. 35 weeks and no stretch marks yet.... (fingers crossed)
Conditioning nipples: I haven't heard of conditioning nipples prior to birth.... Like Purple Daisy I was been told to avoid soaps as they tend to dry the nipples out, especially in the last four weeks of pregnancy and after birth. My midwife also said especially when establishing breastfeeding it was best to avoid any soaps/creams/lotions etc that would affect the smell of your breast. There are two forms of nipple cream recommended for dry/sore/cracked nipples - Lanisoh and Marcalan (spelling?). I bought the Lanisoh on recommendation from a friend, but was told I didn't need it unless/until your nipples do start hurting.

Thurgie: Another good scan - great news!

Purple Daisy: My midwife told me the same thing about stretch marks - she also said if my mum got them then I probably would too. My mum did get them but she used pure Vitamin E is for healing them though. You can buy the vitamin E capsules and prick them with a pin then rub the oil on the mark. You can barely tell mum has them now and she said they were quite nasty after my youngest brother.

Lils: Your adventure doesn't sound very nice at all! Hope its the first and last time that happens. My nausea has come back with a vengeance this last few weeks. It's a little harder to manage this time around though because all the foods I used in the first 12 weeks are high in carbs so I'm not allowed to snack on them now! sigh. The things we do huh wink.gif Re colostrum - It is weird huh. I got it about the same time and was completely enthralled for a few days.
Binxi
Well I'm finally back on here to tell our story! Sorry it's taken so long to update you all.

Audrey Mae was welcomed into this world on 29/3/11 @ 8.59am at a not so little 9lb!

I had my bloody show on Monday about 11am and was having mild contractions all day. About 5pm I thought I should ring the hospital just to let them know we would be coming in at some stage but wanted to stay home as long as possible. They suggested I come in to do a trace and confirm I was in labour and if everything was okay, I could go home (I live a 5 min drive from the hospital). We went in and my contractions ramped up to close to 5 mins apart but only lasting 45 seconds so they said I could go home if I wanted.

When we went home my contractions sped up to about 2-3 minutes apart but they still weren't very long. The pain at this point was still just annoying rather than really ouchie. At 9 we headed back to the hospital because of how close they were. When we rang back to see if we should come in all they would say was "oh, if you want to you can" where I wanted to be told either Yes or Fine to stay home if you want.

When I got to hospital I was 4cm dilated but membranes still intact. I was pretty happy chilling out in the recliner for most of the labour. I was nauseous and threw up a couple of times but other than that felt pretty good. Pain level was still like bad period pain.

At 1am I asked for another internal and they confirmed I was 8cm dilated. I was over the pain at this point and I had some pethidine. It wasn't that it was unbearable, I was just sick of it and really just wanted something else to hurt for a while. I was tired at this point too and the pethidine allowed me to doze until about 4am. Poor DH felt a bit useless because I kept telling him to go to sleep because I didn't actually need anything and wanted him to be rested for when I did need him. They also ruptured my membranes at this point. They noticed that Audrey had done a poo but as it didn’t look fresh they decided I didn’t need continuous monitoring and would just check her regularly with the Doppler. While the peth allowed me to nap, it seemed to slow everything down as I wasn't ready to push until 6.30 in the morning.

I remember them telling me that when it was time to start pushing your contractions start coming constantly but I never had that. When it was pushing time, they slowed right down to over 5 minutes apart so I lost a lot of ground in between contractions. I don't think I realised how close I was getting to getting her locked into place around the "s-bend" every contraction otherwise I probably would have been able to push a bit harder. Once she was locked into place the pressure on my tail bone was immense. I really thought it was about to break! Everytime I pushed it was so intense that I just couldn’t do it. They brought the doctor in who gave me a local anaesthetic to help me deal with the pain. They were talking about doing an episiotomy and using vaccum extraction and I really just didn’t care. A little part of me was hoping if I was lazy they’d just use the vacuum (I know you still have to push but I was just exhausted). I’d even lie and say I wasn’t having a contraction so I wouldn’t have to push- despite the fact they could see my stomach tense up anyway! Once I’d had the local the doctor got set to doing some serious peri massage to help stretch it out.

About two pushes after the local went in Audrey just flew out of me- head, shoulders and all. It turned out that she had her hand wrapped around her head which made her shoulder dig into my tail bone extra badly. I had a couple of grazes and a labial tear that required a couple of stitches but my perineum survived intact which I was very grateful for.

She was put straight on to my chest and DH cut the cord. She weighed in at a healthy 9 pounds, 51cm long with a HC of 37.5cm (plus arm!).

Binxi!!
CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of gorgeous Audrey Mae!!! Hope you are all settling in really well and enjoying your first weeks together.

That is a pretty damn good birth story if you ask me (apart from little Audrey deciding she wants to be a dancer and have her arm above her head! Cheeky girl original.gif)
So glad that all went well for you and that you have your gorgeous not so little girl in your arms now. Good job on the lack of stitches too:).

Gorgeous scan pics girls they all just make me melt!

Tara your Q's:
Flu Shot: No I'm not getting it and OB had a talk to me bout it and said that "No. Thanks" was pretty much what all his preggy ladies say. I will get it after.
Oils and creams: Bio Oil and body butter. Shea stretchmark cream and yummy Body Shop butter.
Nipples: I have heard lots of different opinions on the nipple cream debate. People say (and my midwives too) do not moisturise your nipples because they need to get tough for breastfeeding. If you moisturise they will be too soft and they will crack and bleed. Also no nipple stimulation after 30 weeks because it can actually bring on labour ...... that's the theory. Lots of different opinions out there. Also a nice little handy theory is, women with olive or dark skin have a less chance of bleeding cracked nipples compared to fair skinned women only because the skin on the nipples is thicker apparently. I have been asking around and apparently it could be correct! My MW said that that was what she found too. It's all verrrrry interesting.

I will be back for a proper Lil Peach OB update tonight original.gif. (Apparently Lil Peach is more like Big/Giant Peach!!) ffear.gif ffear.gif ffear.gif

Thank you for sharing your birth story - sounded like a pretty full on time but worth it in the end original.gif

Also regarding the flu shot. I'm off to the Dr's to have mine next week - I've had it for the last couple of years (as has my DH) due to my DH's Cystic Fibrosis which can flare up really badly if he gets the flu. So it's best that I avoid it as well....but since I am early in the pregnancy I should be ok I reckon original.gif

Hi girls

Thought I would update you on what has been happening over here.
So I went for my ultrasound on Friday to check on my cervix and Lil Peach. Had my OB appointment yesterday and all is fantastic with my cervix which is fantastic news but new set back is baby is very big.
With all the measurements apparently he or she is in the 96th percentile and apparently they start to worry when you hit 90th percentile soooo as much as I was expecting a bigger baby I wasn't expecting a gigantic one lol.
Anyway my OB spoke to me about it and he said that he is happy for me to try to have a natural delivery as long as baby isn't breech. He did give me the option to book in a C-sec after 36 weeks but I really want to give natural a go and he is happy for me to. He is sending me off for another scan at 36 weeks to check on babys growth.
Next lovely little obstacle is that he said it could be genetic but he wanted me to do the Glucose test again to make sure I don't have GD and that is why Peach is so big but do the Glucose Tolerance Test just to make sure even thought my results came back low/no risk of GD last time with the 1 hour test.
After I went white at the idea of 3 blood tests in 2 hours (I have never had a problem with BT's until I got pg because now they really really hurt for some reason) he was so nice and let me do the test using the finger prick test with the on site nurse original.gif. This made me very happy. No bloods needed and the results are instant original.gif
So this morning came, did my first test (fasting test) and all was fine then drank the gross drink waited for 1 hour then the nurse did another test and I was 10.1 so I was OVER the cut off is 10!!! What!! I couldn't believe it. Waited till the last test an hour later and the result was 9.1!!! Cut off is 8.5 sad.gif so .6 over. My OB wasn't there today to go over the results but it is pretty obvious that I have GD sad.gif. I just find it a little unbelievable, I hardly eat anything and I can't believe my body is not coping with being pg. So disappointing but I will have to wait and see what my OB says tomorrow or Monday. With only less than 8 weeks to go and with all the other dramas we have had I really wanted a smooth finish to our pregnancy so we could enjoy it but now it doesn't look like it is going to happen. I know that having GD isn't the end of the world and it will be ok but I really wanted some relief from my body not co operating sad.gif.

I'm really sorry for the downer post girls but that is where we are at now.

purple_daisy
Congratulations Binxi - such a lovely name! I am so pleased to hear from you, thanks for sharing the birth story, I really enjoy reading people's experiences. Good on you for staying home so long and pushing her out hand-up and all! bbabyflip.gif

Thurgie - argh my stupid work computer won't let me access photobucket so can't know if the link works or not rant.gif

Peaches - my dear testing buddy, what a terrible shock for you after getting the all clear on the GD test last time. How scary that that can happen. OK so what happens now? If you start on a GD diet from today, will that slow the baby's growth enough for you to last till term and go the natural route? Or does GD make the c-section option more likely? Did they already give you info on the GD diet? Thank goodness they picked lil peach's size up now and not at 36 weeks when a c-section may have been the only option!

AFM can't believe how close to the top of the EDD list I am getting wow! I remember when I was right down the bottom but now I'm saying to people 'the baby is due next month' and it feels so close! I don't even feel that big yet, will have to post a pic this weekend. Having quite a number of stitch-type pains in my side this morning, suspect it is my skin stretching out. Otherwise just looking forward to the weekend!

Congratulations Binxi on the safe arrival of little Audrey Mae! ppinkstork.gif wub.gif babygirl.gif
Thanks for sharing your birth story, sounds like you did a wonderful job. Hope you are enjoying the special time getting to know your little girl. bbabyflip.gif

Peaches - you poor thing finding out you have GD on top of all you've gone through! At least there isnt too long to go, but i hope they can make it clear what you will need to do to try and stop lil peach growing so much! bbighug.gif
LenaK
Hi Peaches. I'm really sorry to hear about your GD diagnosis. I know exactly what you mean about being dissapointed in your body - I was too and I think it's perfectly normal to be upset.
Unfortunatly, it has nothing to do with how much you eat - but the good news is that it's often easily managable through diet so please dont stress. My readings were pretty much the same as yours and I am managing really well on diet. Plus - you only have eight weeks to go - which is awesome!
Your OB will probably get you to buy a glucose tester and monitor your sugars for a week or two. I am more than happy to help you with a meal plan and/or any info etc when you are ready - just PM me :-)

Congratulations Binxi on the arrival of little Audry Mae!! Thank you so much for sharing your birth story! Enjoy the time with your little girl.

Peaches - huge bbighug.gif for you!

Flu shot - My GP harped on about it when we started TTC but since seeing my Ob I haven't mentioned it and neither has she. I've never had the flu before so don't want to tempt fate. I probably won't bother.

evening ladies

peaches sorry to hear about your gb diagnosis, hopefully with only 8 weeks to go you can get it under control and be able to have a natural birth original.gif

afm - didn't take a picture today cause i couldn't even see anything so there was no way the camera would lol

hope everyone has a nice weekend...im going out for 2 first anniversary dinners mmmm..
J3NN1
Hi everyone

Congrats Binxi on the birth of Audrey!! I have to admit that the name is DH and I's favourite for a girl as well!!!
I love how classy it sounds and it isn't too common which is also good.

MrsBrady - when I do OPK's I get very obvious negatives (no 2nd line or barely there 2nd line) then BAM positive, and then usually the next day even more positive. So don't be disheartened that it doesn't look like its getting more positive.

Peaches - sorry to hear about your GD diagnosis....esp after what you have already been through.

Thurgie - gorgeous scan pic of your little boy.

Pumpkinbums and Lilis - those morning sickness stories are awful!!! I have a fear about public spewing haha. I think if/when the time comes I will be stealing those spew bags from work we give patients after their operations and carry that around with me in my pocket or bag!!

Ok girls, now please don't take offence but I just want to give you my thoughts on the flu shot as a nurse Tounge1.gif
Of course you can choose to ignore me and its our own bodies to do with what we want so yeah, anyways here I go: I am really amazed about the misinformation out there about the flu shot, (even amongst the fellow nurses I work with). Firstly the flu shot doesn't give you the flu, but it also doesn't protect you against catching colds which is what most people get the symptoms of. They have caught a common cold, but because they recently had a flu shot they blame it on that. Trust me, having the actual flu will make you bed ridden and probably placed in hospital, but everyone uses the word flu loosely, even to describe the common cold. The flu shot is perfectly safe to have while pregnant. The reason they recommend it, is really not so much to prevent you from getting sick....but to prevent your baby catching the flu or other people with little babies. Because the flu can be a death sentence for a little baby with no immunity. I had a colleague tell me she wasn't getting her flu shot (we get them for free at the hospital) because she doesn't like needles!! I could have slapped her....she works in a hospital!!!! its not about her!! It is about stopping her giving it too all those sick and elderly and young patients! Also regarding the swine flu, yes it is in the current flu vac. Another colleague's 19 year old daughter recently died from swine flu, she was in ICU for 10 months, and she was fit and healthy and it is devastating, she wrote a really moving article in the West Australian newspaper about how important the flu shot as she is very passionate about it.
Ahhhhh, sorry girls I know that all sounds really preachy and I normally am not like that......so take from all that what you will, but I just felt like it was my duty to inform.

ANYWAYS....AFM I am 3 or 4 DPO. Feeling secretly hopeful this cycle since I had the HSG done and that makes me more fertile then normal. I didn't use OPK's this month, but did have lots of ovulation pain from CD 11-14. And have had some strange pulling/stretching type cramps last few days...but this could still be a result of ovulation. Anyways hopefully I'll be preoccupied by moving house so won't obsess too much and not be too disappointed if it doesn't happen.

Have a great weekend everyone waves.gif

Hi ladies

Sorry I have been MIA, just super busy at work, have just got home (and don't usually work Saturdays).

Peaches - hope you get that GD undercontrol, no doubt it really sux bbighug.gif

Binxi - congratulations, that is fantastic news. I also love the name Audrey! hope you're having lots of fun getting to know each other.

Jenni - good luck, I have my fingers crossed for you

Sorry, my personals aren't great, as I can't remember everything I needed to reply to.

AFM = I started ovulation tracking this week at the IVF place, I've had three blood tests and 1 ultrasound, back on Monday for both again. I think O day should be nearing, so hopefully it helps us out!

Enjoy your weekends!
Charley+James' mum
Firstly a huge congratulations to Binxi on the arrival of her daughter.

Afm - yesterday I went to the baby and toddler show in Melbourne. It was a good day. I got myself a couple of bargains. I bought a mini monkey sling which came with a free nursing cover and a ergo cocoon swaddle wrap and a soft baby owl toy.
pumpkinbum
Peaches - that SUX! Does the 'just over' and fact that the results were from pinprick as opposed to full blood test leave any hope that the diagnosis could end up being be different?

Binxi - thanks for your birth update! You coped so well - great job xx I hope you and Audrey and DH are all settling in and getting to know one another as a family.

Glad you enjoyed the babyshow WBMA.

Letmebe - its good that you are on a plan and I too hope it helps you out.

J3NN - hope the 2WW flies by for you.

Lils - isnt the whole colostrum leakage freaky! I started noticing it really early (think around 15 weeks) which I thought was really strage as I have hardly had any increase in bust size - the tiny enlargement is due to weight gain as opposed to pregnancy I'm pretty sure. That 20kg has to be going somewhere I guess oomg.gif

AFM - baby dropped Thursday night - it was obvious to me on Friday morning as my stomach looked so different. DH couldn't see the change though rolleyes.gif I had an Ob appointment Friday lunch time and said I'm sure it dropped overnight - sure enough I was right - baby is 'well engaged' and should come any day now. Ob says should be next to nil chance of having to be induced ddance.gif

So its just a waiting game now - everything is packed and we are ready. DH is on school holidays which is great. We think we might have a due date baby! Hope so anyway as I'm not looking forward to 'going over' I'm not an impatient person but when you have limited mobility and nothing left to organise it is really boring and I'm sure we will get sick of people asking for updates! Its supposed to rain all week in Melbourne - so good week to be in hospital original.gif

Its a little like the 2WW I have been analysisng every movement and examining the toilet paper ssecret.gif

Last night baby was moving ALOT and I've had a fairly lazy one thus far so I googled movement pre-labour.

I've had no 'bloddy show' so I googled labour without show.

The baby does something near my bladder and it sends spasms into my vagina - yep googled.

Google brings up at least one person who experienced these in the hours before birth roll2.gif

Have to fill in time somehow!

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend - its been pretty quite in hear so I'm hoping this is because you ladies have been out and about having fun.
Tara27
Congratulations Binxi on the arrival of Audrey! wub.gif

Thanks also for sharing your birth story, sounds like you did so well!

Jenni - Thanks for the info re the flu shot, it is much appreciated. I am booked in to have mine this week, although I was still unsure as to whether I should have it or not and your info has helped me to decide. I usually have it each year as I am asthmatic, so I think for me I would be silly not to have it. Good luck to you for this cycle though, hope you have some success after your painful procedure..you deserve it!

WBMA - Glad you had a good time at the baby show and got some good buys. I thought it was good, but it wasnt as good as the one late last year at the Melb Convention Centre, there didn't seem to be as many stalls. I was still happy with my bambooty purchase though! wink.gif

Letmebe - Good luck to you for this cycle too will keep my fingers crossed for you

Peaches - Sorry to hear about your GD, although it is great news that all is good with your cervix. Bit of a bittersweet appointment for you though, you poor thing. Hope all goes ok with the OB when you see him, keep us posted. Thinking of you bbighug.gif

waves.gif to everyone else. Hope you have all had lovely weekends...can't believe it is almost over already cry1.gif
Stella_C
A huge congrats to Binxi on the arrival of Audrey - another fan of the name!! Your story was great - you did do so well. Hope everything is going well and you are in love with your beautiful daughter.

Peaches - oh no hun, sorry to hear that about the GD - and about the big peaches!! Im sure everything will be fine and you can manage it through your diet during the last 8 weeks. Thinking of you xx

Pumpkin - wow you are sounding like the poster pregnancy woman!! I cant wait to hear the news of whether its a boy or girl and whether he/she is right on time! I know what you mean about google - you can always find someone who has had what your having and it be good news. LOL. Sending you all the best of luck for the birth and will be ph34r.gif for your updates! xox

Hi to everyone else..

Not a lot going on here, waiting for AF to arrive probably in the morning as the pre-AF signs are right on time so another month bites the dust. We have a wedding down the south coast near Batemans Bay next weekend so looks like I'll be able to enjoy the free booze wacko.gif

Have a great week everyone
J3NN1
Wow its been quiet in here this weekend.

Sorry to hear AF is probably arriving Stella sad.gif that sucks. Have fun at the wedding!

Tara glad I could help make your decision wink.gif

Pumpkinbum any day now for you by the sounds of things!! How very exciting. I can't wait to hear how it all goes. Best of luck Hun!! bbabyflip.gif bbighug.gif ddance.gif

LETMEBE, Thanks for the luck, same to you as well. I really hope this tracking cycle helps you get that BFP.gif . All the best.

I've spent the day trying to start packing our house up, but it is SO HARD!!! I don't know where to begin...there is just so much stuff!! and on top of it my back is playing up again with pain on my right side radiating down my right leg cry1.gif I have a heat pack on it now. And as much as I don't want to obsess about this 2WW, I am! I have had cramps on and off everyday since ovulation, Im still over a week away before AF is due so Im positive its not AF cramps. No real other EPS though. wacko.gif

babygirl.gif Congratulations Binxi on the arrival of your baby girl Audrey Mae! babygirl.gif

Like many others I just love her name, it's so pretty! wub.gif
Thank you so much for sharing your birth story with us all and enjoy every minute with your little one original.gif

Pumpkinbum hope to hear very exciting news from you soon!!

Stella I'm sorry to hear that evil AF is on her way, good that you have a wedding to go to next weekend to take your mind off things a little bit - have a great time and enjoy a few glasses of wine, you deserve it bbighug.gif

Peaches I'm sorry to hear about the GD diagnosis, especially after your earlier scare. I hope that you are able to manage your sugars over the next few weeks - take care bbighug.gif

WBMA sounds like you did well at the baby show! Good to hear that everything is likely to be fine with bub's cord, keep us updated after your next scan.

Wizzlet I know that I spoke to you on FB, but sorry again to hear that your pregnancy has been classed as high risk at the moment, hope maybe it will be changed again before the birth, take care of yourself bbighug.gif

Jenni thanks for all the info on the flu shot, it's incredible how much misinformation is around, especially on vaccination. Thing with the internet as well is that you can find "evidence" to back up any point of view you want. My mum is a nurse too (actually a midwife now!) so I get my info from her!!
Good luck this cycle, hope you get your BFP - when will you be testing?

Mrs Brady hope the anniversary dinners were yummy!!

Thurgie Great scan pic!! Can't believe you are over halfway already!!

waves.gif to Roz, ready, bananagirlsmum, Lils, Livview, Tara & everyone else I've missed. Hope all the new mummies and new bubs are doing well too!!!

AFM thanks for all your kind words about our wedding plans!! I am so excited about it!! We went to a wedding expo today and got a few more ideas... I found a bridesmaid dress I really like & will be asking the girls to try it on very soon!! I think we're going to go for a deep lavender purple colour, if that makes sense!! It will be a spring wedding so we're going to try to incorporate a bit of a spring theme.
I can't remember who asked if I have German background because we're thinking of spelling the word "LIEBE" (love) out in those large letters on the cake table - I actually have Dutch background, but studied in Germany for a year while I was at uni. original.gif

Hi Girls

Just a super quick post from me as work has become insanely busy all of a sudden and I only have 12 days left here so might be in for a hectic couple of days.

Just wanted to say good luck to pumpkinbum, that is so exciting! I will look forward to reading your news when you have some original.gif

Stella I hope AF didn't arrive as expected, but if she did, let down your hair and enjoy the wedding!

AFM not much to report. Starting to feel quite tired and looking forward to mat leave, as I find that I'm getting more uncomfrtable when moving - ie bending causes stitch-like pain, standing causes back pain, too much sitting causes pelvic pain. I consider these all very small prices to pay, but it doesn't stop me looking forward to having our little one arrive!

Have a lovely day all!
readyandraring
I will start with a few personals.

Stella - It sucks that AF has arrived, I really hate that you are still waiting your turn. You are a patient woman and I hope next cycle is yours.

Pumpkin - I will be stalking for your news, so excited that bub has engaged!

Seaside shells - the dress colour sounds lovely, I never went to a wedding expo but I am guessing they provide lots of great ideas?

Purple daisy - when do you finish up work? You are amazing in that you have returned to work and kept going like you have, you deserve the break!

J3NN1 - you sound like you have a bit on your plate, hopefully the packing is going ok and AF stays away!

I am not sure if I congratulated Binxi!! what lovely news, I am so glad you had time to give us an update.

Peaches - I hope that your diet change at this stage of your pregnancy is not too hard, you really have had a hard time and I just hope the rest is smooth.

AFM - well AF arrived this morning right on schedule and she has been giving me hell in the days leading up. I was away for my DH's grandma's 80th so I felt like crap the whole time. It was a hard family get together as we were supposed to have a newborn and it was one of the events that DH and I were really looking forward to. Instead we watched the cousins wheel in their little babies and pop the prams in the corner so bubs could sleep and we dodged questions about when we would start a family.

Then we got a call from DH's friend on saturday to say that their second bub had arrived, we were so excited for them, we went and shopped yesterday morning for a gift to drop past the hospital since we were in the area. But when I went to walk into the hospital I couldn't do it. I could not breathe and I started sobbing, DH put me back in the car and just went in quickly himself. He told them I had woken with a cold and did not feel right about coming in. He thinks they might have guessed though.

I was so embarrassed that I reacted like that but I could not stop shaking afterwards and it was just all too much. Less than a month till our appointment at the hospital and we are not trying this month so that we can just wait for their advice, go on our holiday in May without any worries and try and relax.
~lils~
Ready - bbighug.gif I'm so sorry to hear AF turned up for you and for your stories over the weekend. You made me cry reading that, I just really feel for you hon and I don’t think you have anything to be ashamed about feeling the way you did - it is perfectly understandable in your situation. I hope that your DH looks after you and the next month til your appointment flies by so you can enjoy your holiday hhugs.gif

Stella - hhugs.gif to you too. Sorry to hear it sounds like AF is on her way… hope she surprises you and stays well away! If not, then at least you can enjoy yourself at the wedding!

MrsB
- congrats on the anniversary! Hope you got a +ve OPK over the weekend and were able to really enjoy your anniversary grin.gif

J3NNI - Fingres crossed for the 2WW for you, hope it goes really quickly and you get some good news soon!! The cramps sounds promising… hope you can find something to distract you for the next little while to keep your mind off things.

Pumpkin - I'm the opposite with my boobds - they got so big so quickly I'm pretty sure that’s where the majority of my weight gain in the first 4 months went! Yay for your baby being fully engaged!! Hope it comes along soon! Have fun googling all the possible pre-labour signs laughing2.gif

Purple_daisy - sorry to hear things are so busy at work for you, but 12 days to go - hurray!! How exciting biggrin.gif Hope they pass really quickly and you can look forward to some restful time before your baby comes.

AFM, well we ordered our pram, stroller, cot and change table on the weekend, so it finally feels like we are starting to get organised for this baby! Of course they didn’t have any of it except the stroller in stock, so we had to order it in and will have to wait a few weeks, but at least the decision is made and we don’t have to pay for it all right away! DH is getting his wisdom teeth removed tomorrow so its going to be an interesting week seeing how he goes with it all!

Hi All,

MrsBrady: Congratulations on your 1st wedding anniversary... we had ours on Sunday but really didnt do much to celebrate. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

lils: Bet you cant wait to have it all (cot, stroller etc) at home and set up!!
Readyandraring: bbighug.gif Sorry that AF turned up
Purple_Daisy: Hope the 12 days fly past so you can enjoy your maternity leave.

Seaside_Shells: love the choice of colours biggrin.gif

J3NN1: I end up doing a spreadsheet of what has to be done in each room and starting with the one that has the least items... otherwise I would be a procrastinator.

Stella: Hoping AF doesnt arrive.

Tara: How are you?

Pumpkinbum: With DD#1 and #2 I felt the last few days drag on but with #3 it was a OB apt at 9am @ 35 + 5 days, rushing home to pack bags etc and being admitted that night for an induction the next morning...hope the time goes quick for you.

Hi to Wannabemummyagain, bananagirlsmum, Wizzlet, MagicHour and all I have missed: Hope you are all well.

Good luck to those waiting to test!!

AFM: Just prodding along, have a lot going on so TTC (though is still happening) isnt the "main" event around here at the moment (which will hopefully allow for a less stressed cycle). Will see have FS apt Wednesday 20th so fx results are ok.

Regards

Roz
StAr80
First of all, a very big hug to ready, Mrs B and all the girls trying for so long now bbighug.gif Don't be ashamed of how other people babies and pregnancies make you feel because it is totally understandable! I guess I was 'lucky' that I didn't know a lot of people in Australia who were pregnant or had babies and the only friend who was pregnant got there through IVF after years of devastation. All my friends back in Holland were pregnant and had babies but I did not see them so I guess that made it easier! But it will be your time soon!

Roz, I'll keep my fingers crossed you have some good results at the fs and hopefully not thinking about TTC will be helpfull for you this month!

pumpkinbum, I love the soundtrack of Kill bill but that is about it, lol. DH on the other hand can't get enough of the movies! Enjoy watching! Good news about baby engaging and hopefully it will go quick for you!

Mrs B, Happy aniversary and I am keeping my fingers crossed you get that OPK soon!!

Lils, how exciting you ordered all those stuff! What pram did you end up buying (not sure if you mentioned it earlier?)

Purple daisy, sorry to hear you are feeling so uncofy hun!

seaside shells, it was me who asked about your background. Based on your last name I guessed it was Dutch but with your idea of 'Liebe' it looked like you had a German background. Why not concidering 'Liefde' instead of 'Liebe'?

Jenni, I hear you on the packing! We started packing too but it is so much work. Especially as I have so many assignments to do for uni as well so time is gettign very tight with all this! Take care of yourself with your back!

Stella, hopefully AF does not show up but if she does, you might as well have a good time at the wedding!

WBMA, good to hear you enjoyed the baby show and got some nice things!

Letmebe, How did your appointment go today? Keeping my fingers crossed O is just around the corner so you can catch that little egg!

Peaches, sorry to hear about your GD, hun! That really sucks! Hopefully you manage to keep it all nicely under control for the last 8 weeks so you can have a natrual birth!

Thurgie, love your scan pic, such a gorgeous little boy!

And last but not least a huge congratulations on the arrival of Audrey! Thank you for sharing your birth story, Binxi, and enjoy your time as a new family!!

AFM, Not much to mention. Bub is getting so active and kicks all day long. But luckily it still has a nice night and day ritm and keeps still at night. I am so hoping this will stay this way!
I went to the babyshow on Friday with a friend and we bought some nice things for bub and the nursery and did some more pram reasearch and test drove heaps. I now have a short list of my favourite ones and coming weekend DH and I are going to decide which one it will be. I am still fan of the mountain buggy but the main downside with that one is that the todler seat can't face me and I really would love one that could do this. I also like a 4 wheeler a bit more than 3 wheels but I don't like the small wheels all the 4 wheelers have on the front. I also like a pram where the seat is higher than most prams/stollers have so I am making it myself difficult as the pram also need air wheels and a good suspencion as we are not living in an innercity suburb and not everything is nice and smooth out here. I know some nice onces that have these a lot of these things but as they are not available in Australia I can't test drive them to see they really thick all the boxes. Oh well, hopefully one of the prams on my list will tick most of the boxes and we can decide quickly!
