I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with baby number 4. We have 3 princesses and we have started thinking about boys and girls names.....

If this one is another girl we would like to have the 2 grandmothers names as her middle names.....as the names are Jennifer and Margaret it seems too long.......

Any ideas of a middle name that combines the 2 names???

~Mintie~
The only one I can think of is Jemma, even though it would have an extra M I think it could work.
NotGirly
Why not just call her Jennifer Margaret?
davally
I think Jemma would be a lovely combination. I cannot think of any others that are nice.

BTW, can I just say what a wonderful and sweet idea, a beautiful way to honour the grandmothers hheart.gif

Jennigret? Margiffer? Hehe.

Sorry I have no idea. Do the grandmothers perhaps share a popular middle name of the time like Ann??
cinnabubble
Renesme?
kpingitquiet
Jemma would be gorgeous! Jennet would be another way to go. http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Jennet Or maybe a name like Marije? http://www.babynamer.com/marije
Gudrun
That's a hard one. I can only think of names that use letters from both:

Jasma
Megan
Myfanwy
Jasmine
Margery
NotGirly
Jemma is nice, I must say, and it goes well with your other children's names. But I don't mind Jennifer Margaret at all!

I would try and avoid making something up/making spelling up if at all possible...
imamumto3
I like Jemma,

I cant think of anything else
Wizzlet
Maggie-Jane

Margot - Jane

Not quite what you had in mind perhaps, but it gives bubs her own twist on it.

I do like the PP suggestion of Jemma though.

I'm not a fan of name smooshing. To me, hearing the name 'Jemma' has absolutely nothing to do with a woman named Margaret. Giving a child a completely different name doesn't honour anyone. Why not just give the baby the two middle names of Jennifer and Margaret?
missfrizzle
What about Maggie Jennifer?

Yes, just give her two middle names. I have two middle names and I turned out okay.
ingrid74
Jemima

Tend to agree though. Name smushing tends to lose the original names. Just use 2 middle names

I totally agree.

I wouldn't mix the names up - IMO if you want to name them in honour of the grandparents then they actually need to have the same names. My daughter has two middles names 'Sofia Margaret' after both her grandmothers so I guess I am biased.
RedsGirl
My Mum is Margaret and if this bub is a girl her MN will be Pearl after Mum (Margaret means Pearl).

Margaret has quite a few diminuitives, would you consider any of these as FN with Jennifer as MN?

Just as an aside, I just learnt that Jennifer is derived from Guinevere, cool!!! Jennifer means smooth and fair so not much help there.

roll2.gif When I saw the title of this thread, I actually thought it was going to be about renesme!

I vote for Jemma.

I think Molly is short for Margaret. how would Jennifer Molly work, do you think? Or something like Margot Jennifer. Otherwise, i don't see a problem with Jennifer Margaret or Margaret Jennifer particularly if you don't have a long last name.
Luvbngamum
Genna would also combine the two names.

as the names are Jennifer and Margaret it seems too long.......

Too long for what? I have two middle names (also named after my grandmothers) and my DD has two (named after her great grandmothers). It's not like we have to write them down everyday. I'd honour the grandmothers with their full names.

I actually picked DD's great grandmothers middle names. Any chance of that for you?

Renesme?

hahahahahah *sigh*

i think as long as her first name is short eg Zoe, grace, mia, jill somethign like that
then having 2 middle names of that length would be fine
if you choose one as a first name then you have the whole which MIL do you annoy lol

although i like jemma as a name to me also it has nothing to do with the other two names

but if we are adding suggestions of squoosh names....

.... Margine ( can anyone tell i watched big love last night>?)
or even Margene
or Marjene
Gudrun
I like Redsgirl's idea too but I guess you probably already have FN ideas.

Daisy Jennifer
Gretel Jennifer

Guinevere Pearl would be a stunning name too (with NN Ginny) but it wouldn't go with your others.

Aw, you beat me to it. biggrin.gif

Just give the baby two middle names. Much better than smooshing perfectly fine names into a Uneek mess.

I totally agree. My DD has 2 middle names after her grandmothers, its not like you write down your middle names every day.
Nut
I don't see an issue with Jennifer Margaret. They are middle names and not something that will be used all the time. Of course if you plan to use the whole full name when angry you might find it a mouthful if you use a name like... Stephanie...

STEPHANIE JENNIFER MARGARET (insert surname). But Jemma is OK if you want to blend.
Choufleur
I'd just give your daughter 2 middle names
LeeLeeBeeBee
Thanks for all of your responses. I have now decided if this baby is a girl she will have the 2 names as her middle name, as a few of you pointed out that meshing the names wouldnt mean a great deal to honor her grandmothers.

At the moment if she is a girl her name will be

Indie Jennifer Margaret

And if a boy

Archie Reece

22 weeks and we will know for sure! Thanks Ladies for all of your imput!

Good choice!
naomi_j86
I don't mind mashed names*, and if you know where they came from, then of course they honour the grandmothers.
(As long as they are names that work, are real and not unique!)

I was going to suggest Janet, Mara or Greta.

My friend did it with the names Tina and Ann and came up with Tianna (Tee-arn-uh).

Glad you have come to a decision though original.gif
