Hi everyone,
Just an update with what's happening with us. I've had a lot of itching with urticaria; hives caused by me becoming allergic to the babies' genetic material. The Dr has increased my dose of cortico-steroid tablets and I'm using cortico-steroid cream and it's finally pretty much under control. I still have a little bit of itching, but the last two nights, I've been able to sleep, for the first time in a fortnight. It's such a relief. I'm taking anti-histamine tablets 3 times a day which are cauusing me to feel drowsy, which is okay if I have a babysitter for DD.
DD is turning 2 in 3 weeks and is starting to resist her day sleep and is trying to assert herself a lot more. She can probably sense that things are a bit different at the moment.
I've had a few phone messages from friends and family that I haven't returned the same day, and they've jumped to the assumption that I'm in hospital and rung each other up. One friend rang 2 different hospitals, convinced I'd given birth.

Yesterday, I had my 36 week scan and the babies are both about 2.5 kg. The presenting twin is still breech, as has been the case at all the scans. I'd actually thought that I'd felt the baby turn and that I could feel the baby's hiccups down low, but obviously not, so I can unpack my TENS machine as I'll be having a c-sect. I see the ob on Mon morning, I'm guessing she'll book me in for 2 weeks time.
Cheers,
Libby

Hi Libby

Sounds like things are going well with the itching under control - and the babies' weights are looking great. Just a tip about the phone calls - you could change your message to say you haven't had the babies yet but may not call back that day - might stop the frantic phone calls? Or you could just keep them guessing LOL.

Hey great that the babies are doing well and that you have the itching under control!!!!!
Don't be to sure about that c/s both my boys were breech right through the pregnancy up until the last scan just as they were willing me into theatre (38.5 weeks) knew they had turned about two days earlier. So it can happen!!!!
I still had a c/s because I was at a little country town hospital and all the doctors reccommended it as they were all there ready and if I laboured naturally and needed a emergency c/s they couldn't guarentee getting there in time!!!!
That was the choice I made by begging them to deliver me at that hospital and not going to a larger one..

Good luck hope everything keeps going well!!! Not long to keep them in now!!!!!!

Hi Libby ~ I am so glad to hear that you have some relief at the moment (enough to get some rest anyway). Rally all the troops together now to help with your DD and that way you can take the tablets you need and still have peice of mind that she is cared for. You are doing a great job.....keep up the good work and don't worry about not returning people's calls straight away - we still cant manage that now!! *LOL* Your friends will soon realise, and they will get used to it - mine just come over rather than text or phone....What Great sizes your babies are! Hayden was 2.55 born at 37 weeks so great job...

Looking forward to hearing more progress stories. As wems said dont unpack that bag too early! LOL
Stay well!

Thanks Maree, Wems and Haylie. I had my ob appt this morning and we've booked a c-sect for Thurs week, 16/6 when I'll be 37wks+6 days. The ob isn't planning any more scans, as the babies haven't changed position the whole time. I guess if I felt massive movement that felt like a turn I'd request a scan to check.
Although I really wanted to deliver vaginally, now that the c-sect date has been set, it is a bit easier mentally to visualise what's going to happen and to prepare, as even if I go into labour before then, the process will be the same.
Thanks for your support,
Libby
