I just thought I'd start a thread for us all to share any ebook bargains we have found along the way. Quite a few books are still fairly exxy, but every now and then you stumble across a good one for a good low price. I know there are a lot for 99c etc but I am talking about ones that you would expect would still be sold for a fair amount.
The one I wanted to share was Jodi Picoults latest - Sing you Home. I found it on the Kobo store for $9.99, and had a discount code for 25% off which meant I got the brand new release for $7.50
Anyone else care to share? And feel free to share a link

It's worth watching things like the Kobo store for specials, especially weekend discounts - not current, but in January or Feb I picked up all three Stieg Larsson books for around $14 total.

Excuse my ignorance, but is that demonoid.me? Is that legal? Does that site respect copyright?

I dunno if it's legal or if the site respects copyright. All I know is that you can get books off it.

Its a bit-torrent search engine site. Asking if what you get through those sites is legal is not unlike rolling a dice... in as much as if it rolls a 1-5 on a dice its legal.
Thats on a 100 sided dice by the way.

Oh, okay. I am a bargain hunter, but I think I'll stick to more legitimate sites. Call me uptight if you like!

I'm the same, I have friends that have hundreds of books they've offered to send for me for free but I can't do it, I'm happy to pay for my books.

You can get free books of legit sites like Baen, Gutenburg Project and even Kobo and even ones you have to pay for if you get one of their codes.
I have downloaded a few books through Demonoid.me and I haven't had cops banging down my door yet.

and you probably won't have the cops banging down your door, it's more of a personal belief to whether it's ok and right to get books that you should have paid for for free, regardless of whether or not you are caught for it.

Wow this thread turned into a bit of a battle about morals.
Back to the subject of books, I am trying to decide which place to buy books from for ipad. Should buy the ipad soon as well

Any other recommendations?

DH uses his ipad for reading and uses the kindle app mostly, he finds that the ibooks app is usually more expensive

Oh I love having royalties handed over to people who can't be a*sed to buy a book legally.
It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Along with a lot of the authors I know we think you are scum when you download illegally.
Baen are fabulous for free downloads but they are legal.

Quit ya whining. I have only gotten 4 books off demonoid and I get books off Kobo, Smashwords, ManyBooks, Nobel, Omnilit and Girlebooks. The majority of the books I do have I have paid for and some I have used coupons to get which makes them free.

Try the Kobo or Borders app. I like their layout and the kobo site has well priced books.
