Hi everyone,

My boy/girl twins will be one on saturday. My daughter has no teeth yet, she has all the teething signs since 4 months but still no teeth. My son got his two bottom teeth when he was 6 months but thats it and he also has all the teething signs but no more teeth. I'm getting frustrated that they act like they are teething and I say looks like we might get some teeth next week but nothing. Its annoying because I cant give them alot of foods they should be eating at this age. has anyone alse had late teethers or do I need to take them to a doctor. thanks, all advice will be appreciated.

Hi Tina,
Hannah didn't get her first tooth until 13 months, even though she seemed to be "teething" for months before hand. I had actually wondered at 12 months whether she was going to get teeth at all!

If you are concerned, perhaps mention it to your Child and Maternal Health Nurse. However, I don't think it's unusual for some babies to teeth late, particularly if there is a family history of it. I'm sure her teeth will eventually appear!

Hi Tina,

I also have late bloomers when it comes to teeth!
Like your daughter, my DS Riley had all the teething signs from 4 m onths on & didn't sprout his first tooth until 12 months & even at the age of 2 he was still yet to get a few of his teeth - whereas Jackson had about 6 teeth by the time he was 6 months old & had all his teeth by the time he was about 14 months.

I have a similar situation here with Ella & Liam - Liam has one tooth that has only just come through & Ella has had 3 teeth for quite some time now.

Even though your bubs don't have any teeth yet, you will be surprised what foods they can eat - which is pretty much anything that a baby with teeth at that age would eat. They can easily chew meat & chicken that is tender - I was feeding Riley exactly the same as what Jackson was eating at the age of 1. As Jo suggested check with your MCHN if you are concerned - she might be able to give you her opinion of what food you may still want to avoid, but from memory there wassn't anything Riley couldn't eat when all he had was those gums !!

Hi, I wouldn't worry either. my two were completely different in the teeth dept Olivia got her 1st at 6 months Amber not until 9 months then didn't get any more for a little while after. They now have exactly the same amount both getting 2 year old molars.

My health nurse said she had seen first teeth come through from 4 months upto 17 months,

Like Jane said you'll be suprised how much they can eat with their strong little gums!

Cheers Rebecca

My nurse told me that it could be up to 14 mths for the first tooth arrives.
We have just started our girls on normal food and they seen to cope ok.
