Ok i always said i would never temp laughing2.gif But suddenly i am interested, i am skipping this month so it would be for next cycle etc...

But what i want to know is why is it so good? Last month i charted CM/CP etc..

Can you tell if you are pregnant because of temps etc... I've thought it may save me some of the guesswork that was involved with last cycle.

I'm curious too! Have just started so I can have something 'on paper' rather than trying to remember random dates I thought I might be O'ing.

Yes you can. If you have 18 post O high temps then you are more than likely PG, if you have 20 then you definately are. wink.gif

Charting while TTC is really helpful, especially if you have been doing it for a while and you start to get to know your own body and patterns better. You end up knowing basically when you are going to O, so you can BD, and then you get to know exactly when you O'd, which is helpful for testing dates, also for due dates, it's also helpful, if you are having problems ttc, so you can see what your hormones are doing. ie can see where your problems lie in your hormones with your chart.

Plus it's fun, and you get to be more in tune with your body, and can kind of 'watch' whats going on. It's also good as a contraception too. AND of course it gives you something to completely fixate on and obsess over wink.gif

Thanks for that Meg, that is what i thought. Oh and any tips on times to take the temps etc...
Onyx
Take your temp as soon as you wake up, but at the same time each morning.
If you use fertility friend, it gives you a buffer of 30 mins either side of that.
You can temp orally or vaginally.
Vaginally is more accurate.

You can usually tell if you are pregnant by your temps, usually they are quite high, and also steady (but not always the case). Your post O temps will be high for the first few days post O, and may go up and down for a few days, but usually by CD 14&15 you will be able to tell if AF is on it's way or if you are in with a chance. Once you start charting for a few months you will get to see what your temps are like, and what becomes normal for you.

Use a 2 decimal place thermometer. Its more accurate.

jorgo
but your charts will be a little wonky( not smooth looking) becuase our your thyroid thing biggrin.gif and
you'll be "cold" ( probably about 35.8 at low and 36 something at high ( unless your thyroid is well under control- which doesnt sound like it is) compared to non thyroid people

i'm a cold fish lol Dh coming home from midnight shift in winter and absoloutly an ice cube to touch is still warmer then me under a doona and in the warm house lol
Divine53
Thanks Onyx and Jorgo wink.gif biggrin.gif
