I thought it would be interesting to hear when everyone began to get a tummy with their multiples and when you were out of 'normal' clothes!
At only 8 weeks and losing weight from M/S I am of course still in normal clothes but I have heard some multiple mums say they showed rather early! Did you?

Hey Cat
It's difficult to say. I remember noticing my shirts were tight around my tummy at 7 weeks. Initially it looked like I just had a pudgy tummy. By the 7 wk mark was when one of the girls at work first asked if I was preg. By the 12 wk mark I was in maternity clothing & those at work who hadn't asked if I was preg, had just assumed I was or were asking around everybody else if I was preg.
I too gained no weight in the first trimester at all. I was very worried about it cause I was sick all the time. I have gained weight now & only really started gaining from 13 weeks onward.
Cheers, Lilymurray

We found out it was twins at the 18 week scan, although I had a really strong feeling before then that it was - gp only ever heard one heart beat. But I do remember him saying at about 8 weeks that I was big for dates, even though the m/s was doing me in.

So I'd started popping out a little from then on. By the time I got to about 20 weeks, I was as big as what I was at full term with my first baby.

Hi catnat
Funny, as I was just talking about this today (again) with some friends :-) I did not start showing until around 16 weeks, and even then I did not really look pregnant with twins until about 26 weeks. People kept telling me I was too small, and I actually became parnoid that my babies were not growing properly! My ob/gyn measured and said all was well- and my two boys now have me looking like I am about to give birth any day!
Cheers

At around the 12 weeks mark. It was my 2nd pregnancy & everyone said you pop out earlier with the 2nd. Yeah, right!!!

My twins were my first (as you can see in my sig ;p ) and I didn't get very big at all with them....I didn't show until about 20 weeks. (that is "show" not put on weight around tummy.)
LOOK AWAY NOW .....TMI coming up

Am being brave and sticking my tummy shots in here

This was at 32 weeks and the girls were born that week weighing 1.5kg each. (please excuse the stretchies

Nobody would believe me when I told them I was having twins..."You can't possibly have two in there!!!" was the general reply...even the midwives at the hospital when the girls were born couldn't believe they both fit in my tummy...it must have been mighty tight in there! and my tummy went away very quickly too. Just lucky I guess. I did start to pop out by about 12 weeks, a little earlier than with my first baby. But it was babies.

I was bloated from the IVF still and it just never dissappeared. I was lucky and my MS was that I had to eat eat eat - non stop! So maybe that's why! I was in maternity by 12 weeks.
Congratulations it is such a wonderful journey. I remember feeling a bit lonley though as you have so many questions and it is so different than a singleton pregnancy!Unfortunately - NO EB back then!
Good luck and enjoy every minute!

Well, I was well and truly showing by the twelve week mark. There was no hiding the fact that I was pregnant, but that was with a triplet pregnancy.

Well, I've never had a flat tummy so it was a case of "is she or isn't she?" at first. But at around 15 weeks I think some people could tell without asking. Three days before my girls were born (33+ weeks) I went to a friend's wedding. One of the other guests asked how overdue I was :gasp: - but I was big.
Ana.
Edited to add: Amanda - I have stretch marks just like yours! ;p

When I first fell pregnant, I couldn't wait to get a big tummy and then all of a sudden before I knew it, I had quite a big bump by about 10 weeks - I looked like I was around 5-6 months pregnant. I remember when leaving work (I was 5 months), people used to chat to me in the lift and say things like "you must be ready to pop" and after a while, I got sick of having to explain that I actually had 4 months to go, so I would just agree with them, to save myself the story!

The first thing that grew was my chest. I went up 2 cup sizes by the time I was 6 weeks. At about 12 weeks (still didn't know it was twins), I needed to get slightly longer shirts and was more comfortable in elastic waists but didn't look pregnant (just well fed - hang on, maybe that was it?). ;p Can't remember when I broke out the maternity wear. In the early weeks most people didn't believe I was having twins but by 28 weeks people thought I was due any day. I have a photo of me at 34 weeks (they were born at 35+1) with my two year old niece standing under the 'verandah' that was my belly. By that stage, even the maternity wear was no good!
Enjoy - and take photos even if you think you look awful. I wouldn't let anyone take any (except that one family photo) because I thought I looked hideous but I really regret it now.

I wore my normal clothes (with buttons undone towards the end) until about 20 weeks. At 20 weeks I was complaining about not feeling well at a work function and another woman told me I'd feel better when I got to 12 weeks! She couldn't believe I was 20 weeks with twins. But I am fairly tall and wasn't skinny to start with! However I soon made up for that and by the third trimester looked (and felt) like a ship in full sail. We took photos the night before I was induced at 37 weeks and frankly they scare even me!

Hi Cat - I really started to look pregnant at 22 weeks and I wore the same pants through my whole pregnancy only started to wear the maternity tops for the last few weeks. It was 40+ degrees in Kalgoorlie so I wore singlet tops (stretchie ones) for the last bit, just to be comfortable.
I was like the other girls, no one could believe I had two babies in there, but when I popped out in the last 4 weeks I looked unconfortable!
The best part is not feeling fat - but getting a hard firm, round belly to rub and admire LOL

I popped at about 14 weeks with the twins, but I had people seriously questioning me throughout the next 21 weeks whether I was certain it was twins. I looked no more pregnant than with a singleton.
Mind you this time I popped at 10.5 weeks and there is DEFINITELY only one in there so who knows LOL!

I've been wondering the same thing Cat! I'm only 9wks but already have a distinct firm tummy bulge that's obvious to pretty much everyone.... my DH thinks it's hillarious and rubs it every night and says goodnight to the babies

I've been concerned it's way too early to show!
I've been very lucky and haven't vomited like you, so have been eating like an absolute *pig* (helps my MS) but I haven't really put any weight on yet, maybe 1kg. I'm a little scared about how big I'll get in the coming months

Amanda - good on you for putting your pic there! I think it's great

Hi everyone
I started showing at 8wks as my clothes were getting tight and I started wearing Mat cloths at 10wks. I was clevered at hiding my bump until the last 8 wks as I had no choice in clothes. as I was huge at 33 wks the size of a full term singleton and I am a big person too. I don't have that many stretch marks as I used lots of cream through my pg.

Rosie.....I also used a lot of cream to prevent stretchies ....it is just the luck of the draw unfortunately...either you have the type of skin to get them or you don't.
I put cream and special stretch mark oil on EVERY night of my pg.....fat lot of good it did LOL

After having IVF my tummy was pretty "bulged" from over stimulated ovaries, so I started to show very early on. It is nice now to finally fit back into normal clothes

Mind you sitting here having eaten a bag of maltesers isn't going to keep it that way for long

hey i will just find some pics and put them on to show me when i was preggers. i was in maternity clothes at 12 weeks - i was quite a fitness fanatic when i fell pregnant, so when i found out at 6 weeks the doctor made me stop exercising. So i found that the weight just piled on!!
Ok heres me at Wk 17 - by this stage i had only put on 4kg but my stomach had increased by 15cm already!!

Here's me at 22 weeks - between 17 and 22 weeks is when i really popped out

28 weeks

35 weeks

39 weeks in hospital just before i was induced..

Bye!

Thankyou ladies for that. It is great to hear about others tummies and especially to see the photos. We are doing tummy photos right through and have already started! Here is one of the first ones (I am DEFINITELY not putting up the top up ones as I already have heaps of stretchies from pre-pregnancy. The joys of being fair.

Catnat - don't worry i have tons of stretchmarks.. i did everything that i was told - used about 10 different creams etc but didn't work - i have the disadvantage like you of being fair - but it is all worth it!!
Belinda - i tell you by the time i had my two little guys i was so huge that i can imagine you were the same, i couldn't get out of the couch, roll over in bed or get out of the car. My DP had to help me to get dressed - it was just so hard to do everything!! I can't believe my boys are only 14 weeks old and i am back to my old size nearly (only 5kg to go - yay), and i can't believe my belly was ever that big!!
To all you pregnant ladies make sure you take tons of pics because it really is amazing!!
Bye

Rachie: The difference between you at 35 weeks and 39 weeks just blew me away!!! I am going home to take heaps of pics tonight. It is so hard to believe what the human body can do.
I will now look at swollen body parts after injury in a totally new light!!!

Holy Moley RachieD!
Look at you! You looked brilliant! I have emailed your pix to my DH - who is taking weekly photos of me and is already fascinated (mostly by the boobs though).
I am 16 weeks now and I think i have "popped" a bit but noone else does. I have taken to walking around clutching back and tummy in an attempt to indicate to everyone that i am actually pregnant - not had a boob job as everyone seems to think.
I too have gone up two cup sizes in the bust but whilst I can see a definitely pregnant shape to my tum, no one else will admit that they can tell. Except DH when i have been sleeping on my left side and the bump shifts to the left!
I went maternity shopping on the weekend as only my gym gear (hooray for lycra!) fits now - fortunately work is casual. None of my normal pants button up at the waist any more. The lady in the shop didn't realise i was shopping for myself...I guess it's because i am pretty tall and lanky so people who don't know me don't realise that the "pot belly" is not normal for me!
DH also says i should enjoy it while i can as i will probably be complaining when i can't see my feet any more :-)
Cheers,
Kate
