HI All

Me again

I am looking at breast pumps now & am curious as to which ones you recommend to buy, as hiring seems quite expensive. I was wanting something with a double collection kit & also electric.

I have come across a few on the net & was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on any of them, namely

- Nurture 111 Double breast pump
- Ameda purely yours double breast pump
- Medela mini electric breast pump kit

Thanks again

Cheers, Lilymurray

No_idea!
[color=Teal]I was thinking about buying an electric breast pump when I was pregnant, but I'm really glad I ended up hiring one from our local chemist instead. It didn't cost much at all, and I had trouble breastfeeding, so it only got used for 3 weeks. I was really thankfull that I hadn't gone to the expense of buying one. wink.gif

Maybe hire one first and see how you go with breast feeding, then if it's working for you, you can buy one?!?! Just a thought.

Hi Lily, glad to see your are going well. Hope you are feeling ok too... I used a double electric pump in hospital which was really quick and easy to use although you do feel like a cow on a milking machine... But whatever works hey!!

I only used manual pump at home but have a couple of friends who had premmies and couldn't feed so hired the hospital grade ones from the chemist as they really seem to be more efficient.

Perhaps Nee might be the expert on this topic??

Avent, Avent, Avent. I had a Tommee Tippee one but the avent isis is so easy to use plus got more milk out than the TT.

They sell them in the Trading room so keep an eye out their or they retail for around $99 which is well worth it in my opinion. I prefer the Avent to the electric ones too. original.gif

My hospital used the Ameda - I hired one (my twins spent 3 weeks in hospital - born at 36 weeks) of the hospital grade ones, and then bought an Ameda Purely Yours. I ended up not being able to breastfeed them, but they had breastmilk in some way and form nearly every day until they were 12 weeks old. I just sold mine - worth nearly $500 - including the machine, ebm bags, and double hygienikit (times two) for $150.

I'll second what Nee said. I agree that the Medela electric pump was the best for me & really regret taking it back when I did.

Definitely the Medela electric and the Avent manual. I used both in the early days of breastfeeding. I would hire the electric to start with and see how you go, before outlaying a huge cost. If it ends up a long term prospect then maybe you can buy one s/hand.
