Hi everyone! I did a search and I found a couple of posts relating to people out there wearing orthotics. Thank goodness! I feel like I'm the only one that has to wear them!!!!

So, where do you find your shoes? The only shoes I have been able to find cost between $200 and $400 and that's out of my price range I'm afraid . I'm lucky I work from home so I've stuck with sneakers until now but I'm getting sick of them! I'd love to have a cute pair of shoes (or 2) that are just as comfortable as my sneakers and don't cost more than $150 so that I can buy at least a pair a year.

Anyone with me? And any advice on where I can find these elusive shoes????

Can you go to a physio who can make orthotics for you, to put inside your shoes and then you can buy what ever shoes you can afford and just transfer the orthotic to the shoe.

I wear orthotics and I have found this years range of boots great in winter at least, i just take my orthotics with me and try on a whole range of flat boots and generally I can find at least one pair that works. Generally looks for shoes with no (or very small) heel and either a strap or closed in over the top of the shoe

Ziera (Kumfs) has the biggest range but quite expensive, ie, most around $229 this year. I have managed to pick up a few pairs on ebay though, ie, I think that often people with funny feet will buy a pair of shoes and then not find them comfortable so re-sell them.

Rockport also has shoes with removable insoles so you can put orthotics in. If you are in Sydney, they have a factory outlet in Alexandria. Otherwise wait for a sale.

I also bought some really cute Josef Ziebel shoes on sale in David Jones last week. Cost me $129 (normally about $200, I think).

Clarks are also good. I am lucky that I can fit into kids sizes so all my winter boots are Clarks kids boots (pay around $50 a pair for them). I also bought some adult Clarks Mary Janes last week (also at the DJs sale) but don't find them as comfortable as the kids Clarks I have.

Homy Ped is another cheaper one but I think they use pretty cheap leather so I don't find them very comfortable. I did manage to pick up a couple of pairs of Homy Peds with removable insoles for my MIL at the Homy Ped factory outlet in Redfern the other week for $29 a pair!

Sandals are usually my biggest problem, ie, can really only go with Zieras/Kumfs for those and it p*sses me off having to pay $200 for sandals and not being able to wear thongs at all.

Kerns and Naot make great shoes but are pricey - I'd suggest trying some on so you know what you want then keep an eye out for sales or track them down on line.

Do Naot have removable insoles though, Rubybelle? I used to love the Naot sandals that I bought in Israel. They were similar to Birkenstocks though, ie, mould to feet rather than have removable insoles.

Oh and OP, if you let me know what size you are, I can also keep an eye out when I am trawling the internet for shoes for myself (provided you are not a 37 as well! ). We orthotics wearers need to stick together.
