Hi All,

just after some others' practice, at what age do you stop using those anti slip mats in the bath tub, and/or what other options are there? DH just asked when we were going to stop using them, and I said I thought it was too soon/dangerous for our DD1 just yet (age 4).

Thanks in advance

I stopped using them at around 12 months and have had no problems since! Maybe try taking them out and see how she goes?

I never used them. i use to sit in the room with him till he was about 3 then I would duck in every couple of minutes... He makes enough racket in the bath that i'd know if something went wrong!!! But My friend stopped using them at about 12 months...

We stopped when she was 3 1/2 as we moved and i threw the old one out!
In saying that our new bath has a textured surface so it isn't needed and she isn't a shower fan....

I have a 3 year old and 1 year old, it will be staying in for a while yet. If I'm having a bath I leave it in so it's a bit more cushiony on the bottom too.

We still use one (at almost 4). She probably doesn't really need it though, it is more out of habit.

I hadn't thought about stopping, but reading the replies above I think that DD1 (4yo) would be ok without it. I do like it for reassurance though, (e.g. when standing up getting in and out of the bath), and DD2 will definitely need it for a long time (more active), so we'll keep using one for the forseable future.

We have strips of textured anti-slip stuff stuck in our bath. I find them less annoying than the mats. DS is 4 and hates showers, otherwise I would probably still use one for the shower.

I have a 1yo DS who stands and walks around in the bath so we'll be using one for a long time yet. DD prefers showers now, she is 3.5yo and again I have no plans of getting rid of it. She is pretty careful but I will never forget when she was much younger and she fell over on the hard shower tiles twice within one day on her little backside...oh the tears...

I still use a shower mat. My DD is 4 and would be fine without one, however I shower her and her brother (2) together, so will keep it for the time being original.gif

I think it makes it safer for everyone, so when I have a bath again I will be using a mat or the little gripping thingys.
