Hello All,

Just a quick one - and i suspect that it is a "how long is a piece of string" question:

What is the general consensus on weight gain during twin pregnancies? I read in the "Twins" book (fabulous book!) that 25 kilos is not uncommon - holy moly!

I have gained 4 or 5 kilos in the past 5 weeks though (10 weeks -15 weeks) and am freaking out. Is this excessive???? I'm worried that it might mean there is something wrong (I don't THINK I am eating too much!)

Thanks,

Kate

Hi Kate

Don't freak out TOO much. I looked and felt huge, but only put on 17kgs (at 35 weeks when they arrived). You certainly notice every extra kilo by the end but it doesn't last too long and its worth it! The good news is that breastfeeding twins is the best weight loss program I've ever tried!! Your OB will keep an eye on you and let you know if its too much. By the way, if its the numbers you hate don't worry - by the end you won't be able to see the scale anyway so if you don't want to know tell the OB not to tell you!! wink.gif

There was a thread a while ago about weight gain:

As long as you're eating well don't get too worried about what you weigh - I ended up all babies and lost 17kg (all my pregnancy gain) in 10 days - lucky me but unluckily it didn't last!!

dont worry too much about your weight. just eat well and stay healthy. I put on 15.5 kgs. it goes away really fast. And breastfeeding makes it really difficult to keep it on... My girls are 2 and i'm still smaller than I was before I had them..

Must be all that running around!!!
